Introduction: Alleviating postoperative pain from developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) surgery is beneficial for paediatric patients. The most commonly used anaesthetic approach currently is general anaesthesia combined with regional nerve blocks. Existing research primarily focuses on studies comparing regional nerve blocks with placebo controls, or studies comparing two different regional nerve blocking techniques.

Background: For L5/S1 extraforaminal disc herniation, how to efficiently expose the herniated nucleus pulposus and reduce facet joint damage remain to be explored.

Methods: Lumbar discectomy was performed using a full-endoscopic transsacral approach, in which sacral ala and extraforaminal ligament were partially resected to expose the L5/S1 intervertebral disc. Methylene blue was used for disc staining, and the herniated nucleus pulposus was excised through the annular tear.

The present study examined the effect of two dietary regimens with elevated salt concentrations (4% and 8% salt) on hemorheological functions of SD rats, and explored the underlying mechanisms mainly through microbiome-metabolome analysis. An 8% HSD substantially altered the hemorheological parameters, and compromised intestinal barrier integrity and reduced the short-chain fatty acid levels. The microbiome-metabolome analysis revealed that 49 genus-specific microorganisms and 156 metabolites showed a consistent trend after exposure to both 4% and 8% HSDs.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Chengdu Women's and Children's Central Hospital, School of Medicine, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu 611731, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze the clinical infection characteristics and antibiotic resistance of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) in Chengdu, China, from 2019 to 2021, to aid in effective clinical drug use.
  • A total of 203 GBS strains were collected, primarily from obstetrics and neonatology wards, with significant GBS colonization found in pregnant women and high morbidity in infected neonates.
  • The findings revealed that while no resistance to penicillin or ampicillin was detected, over 50% of the GBS strains showed resistance to tetracycline and clindamycin, highlighting potential concerns for treatment options.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of Shuanglongjiegu pill (SLJGP) on the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and explore its mechanism based on miR-217/RUNX2 axis. Results found that drug-containing serum of SLJGP promoted BMSCs viability with a dose-dependent effect. Under osteogenic differentiation conditions, SLJGP promoted the expression of ALP, OPN, BMP2, RUNX2, and the osteogenic differentiation ability of BMSCs.

Application of real-time shear wave elastography to Achilles tendon hardness evaluation in older adults.

World J Clin Cases

September 2024

Department of Functional Examination, Sichuan Province Orthopedic Hospital, Chengdu 610041, Sichuan Province, China.

Background: Real-time shear wave elastography (SWE) is a non-invasive imaging technique used to measure tissue stiffness by generating and tracking shear waves in real time. This advanced ultrasound-based method provides quantitative information regarding tissue elasticity, offering valuable insights into the mechanical properties of biological tissues. However, the application of real-time SWE in the musculoskeletal system and sports medicine has not been extensively studied.

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a chronic musculoskeletal disorder characterized by pain and functional impairment. Blood flow restriction (BFR) with low-load resistance training (LLRT) demonstrates a similar improvement in clinical outcomes to high-load resistance training (HLRT) in treating KOA. It has not been established whether intermittent blood flow restriction (iBFR) with LLRT can lead to clinical outcomes that are comparable to those produced by continuous blood flow restriction (cBFR) with LLRT and HLRT.

Applying virtual sample generation and ensemble modeling for improving the spectral diagnosis of cancer.

Spectrochim Acta A Mol Biomol Spectrosc

October 2024

Key Lab of Process Analysis and Control of Sichuan Universities, Yibin University, Yibin, Sichuan 644000, China.

Cancer diagnosis plays a key role in facilitating treatment and improving survival rates of patients. The combination of near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy with data-driven algorithms offers a rapid and cost-effective approach for such a task. Due to the limitations of objective cases, the number of tumor samples is usually smaller, and the resulting dataset exhibit the issues of class imbalance, which has a more serious impact on the performance of diagnostic models.
