Objectives: Acupuncture is a promising therapy for amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). Growing evidence suggest that alterations in the microbiota-gut-brain (MGB) axis contribute to the development and progression of aMCI. However, little is known about whether and how acupuncture change the MGB axis of aMCI individuals.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the increasing relationship between physical activity (PA) and the rising incidence of anxiety and depression in modern society, aiming to highlight research trends and guide future studies.
  • - An analysis of 1,591 studies showed consistent growth in research regarding PA's effects on anxiety and depression, with significant contributions from the USA, Harvard University, and the journal of affective disorders.
  • - The findings suggest that clinicians should encourage mind-body exercises for mood improvement, while future research should focus on specific populations, the impacts of mind-body exercises, and the role of adult neurogenesis in anxiety and depression.

Background: Previously, we have demonstrated that Apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) could inhibit the secretion of Hepatitis B virus (HBV), suggesting that stimulation of ApoA-I may block particle production. In the present study, we evaluated the anti-HBV effect of RVX-208, a small-molecule stimulator of ApoA-I gene expression.

Methods: RVX-208 was used to treat HepG2.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has been clinically proved to have prominent advantages in the treatment of early gastrointestinal cancers over traditional surgery, including less trauma, fewer complications, a quicker recovery and lower costs. During the procedure of ESD, appropriate and multifunctional submucosal injected materials (SIMs) as submucosal cushions play an important role, however, even with many advances in design strategies of SIMs over the past decades, the performance of the submucosal cushions with postoperative management function seems to be still unsatisfactory. In this review, we gave a brief historical recount about the clinical development of SIMs, then some common applications of hydrogels used as SIMs in ESD were summarized, while an account of the universal challenges during ESD procedure was also outlined.

Purpose: There is little information regarding the overall survival (OS) predictive ability of the combination of tumor burden score (TBS), α-fetoprotein (AFP), and albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) grade for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here, we aimed to develop a model including TBS, AFP, and ALBI grade to predict HCC patient OS following liver resection.

Methods: Patients (N = 1556) from six centers were randomly divided 1:1 into training and validation sets.

Yan'an Key Laboratory of Microbial Drug Innovation and Transformation, School of Basic Medicine, Yan'an University, Yan'an, Shaanxi, China.

Excessive free radicals and iron death lead to oxidative damage, which is one of the main causes of aging and diseases. In this field of antioxidation, developing new, safe, and efficient antioxidants is the main research focus. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are natural antioxidants with good antioxidant activity and can regulate gastrointestinal microecological balance and immunity.

Biosafety risk assessment and risk control of clinical laboratory in designated hospitals for treating COVID-19 in Chongqing, China.

Am J Infect Control

September 2022

Department of Clinical Laboratory Medicine, Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China; Department of Clinical Laboratory Medicine, Sanya Women and Children's Hospital Managed by Shanghai Children's Medical Center, Hainan, China. Electronic address:

Background: If a nucleic acid preservation solution containing viral inactivators is used, the biosafety risk in the process of detecting the nucleic acid of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) will be low. Patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 are sent to designated hospitals for treatment in China, except for detecting nucleic acid of SARS-CoV-2, other laboratory tests such as bacterial culture may also be carried out while the patients are being treated. However, in addition to nucleic acid testing, biosafety risks in the testing of these items for patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) might be ignored.

Age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass and function, termed sarcopenia, could impair the quality of life in the elderly. The mechanisms involved in skeletal muscle aging are intricate and largely unknown. However, more and more evidence demonstrated that mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis also play an important role in skeletal muscle aging.

Background: Double kissing (DK) crush approach for patients with coronary bifurcation lesions, particularly localized at distal left main or lesions with increased complexity, is associated with significant reduction in clinical events when compared with provisional stenting. Recently, randomized clinical trial has demonstrated the net clinical benefits by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided implantation of drug-eluting stent in all-comers. However, the improvement in clinical outcome after DK crush treatment guided by IVUS over angiography guidance for patients with complex bifurcation lesions have never been studied in a randomized fashion.
