Objectives: Acupuncture is a promising therapy for amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). Growing evidence suggest that alterations in the microbiota-gut-brain (MGB) axis contribute to the development and progression of aMCI. However, little is known about whether and how acupuncture change the MGB axis of aMCI individuals.

Association of the Number of Concurrent Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors with Textbook Outcomes Following Liver Resection for Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Multicenter Study.

Background: There is little information regarding the impact of the number of concurrent metabolic syndrome (MetS) risk factors on the textbook outcomes (TO) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following liver resection.

Patients And Methods: Data from patients who underwent liver resection between 2015 and 2023 in a multicenter database were retrospectively reviewed (N = 3156). According to the guidelines, MetS risk factors include obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia.

[Application and Effect of Patient Portal System in the Remote Management of Chronic Diseases for Older Adults With Coronary Heart Disease].

Objective: To investigate the application of personal health record (PHR) and chronic disease management platform established on the basis of patient portal system (PPS) in managing older adults with coronary heart disease and to examine the effect on patients' self-care ability, coping mode, and quality of life.

Methods: A total of 532 elderly patients with coronary heart disease were included in the study. All the participants enrolled were admitted to a tertiary-care hospital between January 2019 and June 2021.

The efficacy and safety of fexuprazan in treating erosive esophagitis: a phase III, randomized, double-blind, multicenter study.

Background And Aim: Fexuprazan is a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB). This study aimed to explore the noninferior efficacy and safety of fexuprazan to esomeprazole in treating erosive esophagitis (EE).

Methods: This was a phase III, randomized, double-blind multicenter study.

Background: Previously, we have demonstrated that Apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) could inhibit the secretion of Hepatitis B virus (HBV), suggesting that stimulation of ApoA-I may block particle production. In the present study, we evaluated the anti-HBV effect of RVX-208, a small-molecule stimulator of ApoA-I gene expression.

A review of hydrogels used in endoscopic submucosal dissection for intraoperative submucosal cushions and postoperative management.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has been clinically proved to have prominent advantages in the treatment of early gastrointestinal cancers over traditional surgery, including less trauma, fewer complications, a quicker recovery and lower costs. During the procedure of ESD, appropriate and multifunctional submucosal injected materials (SIMs) as submucosal cushions play an important role, however, even with many advances in design strategies of SIMs over the past decades, the performance of the submucosal cushions with postoperative management function seems to be still unsatisfactory. In this review, we gave a brief historical recount about the clinical development of SIMs, then some common applications of hydrogels used as SIMs in ESD were summarized, while an account of the universal challenges during ESD procedure was also outlined.

Background: Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) is a pre-dementia condition associated with declined cognitive function dominated by memory impairment. The occurrence of aMCI is associated with the gut-brain axis. Previous studies have shown cognitive improvements in MCI after acupuncture treatment.

Purpose: There is little information regarding the overall survival (OS) predictive ability of the combination of tumor burden score (TBS), α-fetoprotein (AFP), and albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) grade for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here, we aimed to develop a model including TBS, AFP, and ALBI grade to predict HCC patient OS following liver resection.

Background: Microbial contamination of external-use ultrasound probes is a serious and overlooked issue. We assessed the effects of different methods of disinfecting medical external-use ultrasound probes.

Methods: On-site disinfection experiments were conducted at 10 hospitals; the tips and sides of external-use ultrasound probes were sampled before and after disinfection, and 3 disinfection methods were assessed (use of a new ultraviolet [UV] ultrasound probe disinfector, wiping with ordinary paper towels or cleaning with disinfectant wipes).

Three-Pedicle Reduction Mammaplasty Technique in the Treatment of Greater Breast Hypertrophy Patients With or Without Breast Cancer: Surgical and Patient-reported outcomes.

Background: Reduction mammoplasty (RM) is an important procedure in the management of symptomatic greater breast hypertrophy with or without early-stage breast cancer. We aim to introduce a new procedure: the three-pedicle reduction mammaplasty technique.

Methods: A prospectively maintained database was reviewed, and two prospectively registered clinical studies were included of all breast hypertrophy patients with or without breast cancer who underwent three-pedicle RM with inverted T incision at West China Hospital or the Fourth People's Hospital of Sichuan Province from 2018 to 2022.

The role of radiotherapy in HER2+ early-stage breast cancer patients after breast-conserving surgery.

Background: Due to radioresistance, some HER2+ patients may gain limited benefit from radiotherapy (RT) after breast-conserving surgery (BCS). This study aimed to develop an individualized nomogram to identify early-stage HER2+ patients who could omit RT after BCS.

Methods: The data of HER2+ patients with T0-2N0M0 breast cancer after BCS between 2010 and 2015 were extracted from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER).

Uncertain resection of highest mediastinal lymph node positive among pN2 non-small cell lung cancer patients: survival analysis of postoperative radiotherapy and driver gene mutations.

Background And Purpose: The role of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) in uncertain resection of pN2 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with highest mediastinal lymph node positive has not been determined. We aim to evaluate the effect of PORT and driver gene mutation status (DGMS) on survival in such patients.

Methods: 140 selected patients were grouped according to whether they received PORT and their DGMS.

Background: Endoscopic nipple- or skin-sparing mastectomy (E-N/SSM) and endoscopic latissimus dorsi muscle flap (E-LDMF) harvest have been operational difficulties over decades. The aim of this study was to describe the preliminary outcomes of our novel surgical technique, which allows the performance of E-N/SSM and E-LDMF harvest for immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) through a single cosmetic axillary incision for breast cancer patients.

Methods: This prospective study included 20 breast cancer patients who underwent E-N/SSM and E-LDMF harvesting through a single axillary incision in our hospital from September 2020 to June 2022.

Biosafety risk assessment and risk control of clinical laboratory in designated hospitals for treating COVID-19 in Chongqing, China.

Background: If a nucleic acid preservation solution containing viral inactivators is used, the biosafety risk in the process of detecting the nucleic acid of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) will be low. Patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 are sent to designated hospitals for treatment in China, except for detecting nucleic acid of SARS-CoV-2, other laboratory tests such as bacterial culture may also be carried out while the patients are being treated. However, in addition to nucleic acid testing, biosafety risks in the testing of these items for patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) might be ignored.

The mechanisms involved in skeletal muscle aging are intricate and largely unknown. However, more and more evidence demonstrated that mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis also play an important role in skeletal muscle aging.

[Effects of different doses of glucocorticoids on minimally invasive procedures in pain patients with type 2 diabetes].

To investigate the effects of different doses of glucocorticoids on minimally invasive procedures in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and optimize the clinical pathways of minimally invasive procedures. The clinical data of 284 patients with T2DM who received minially invasive procedures from the Department of Pain Medicine, West China Hospital, Sichuan University from May 2017 to May 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were divided into two groups according to the main diagnostic types: spine-related group (=148) and herpes zoster group (=136).

Preliminary Study on the Safety and Efficacy of One-Stop Treatment of Percutaneous LAAO Combined with Coronary Intervention for Higher Risk of Bleeding in Patients with AF Complicated with CHD.

Aims: To explore the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of 1-stop treatment of percutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) combined with coronary intervention for patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) complicated with coronary heart disease (CHD).

Methods And Results: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 6 patients with AF combined with CHD admitted from Zhuhai People's Hospital from April 2017 to June 2018. After the operation, all patients were treated with aspirin (100 mg qd) and clopidogrel (75 mg qd) for 1 year, which is considered long-term use of aspirin/clopidogrel.

Though typical dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors (DNETs) are located in the cerebral cortex, an atypical DNET could occur in the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle and broadly involve the ependyma. Awareness of this atypical form of DNET is of value for the wright diagnosis and management of atypical DNETs.

Methods: The relationship between USP41 and lung cancer was determined by analyzing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). A549 and H1299 cell lines were transfected with short hairpin RNA against USP41 (shUSP41 group) or negative control (shCon group).

Comparison of intravascular ultrasound-guided with angiography-guided double kissing crush stenting for patients with complex coronary bifurcation lesions: Rationale and design of a prospective, randomized, and multicenter DKCRUSH VIII trial.

Background: Double kissing (DK) crush approach for patients with coronary bifurcation lesions, particularly localized at distal left main or lesions with increased complexity, is associated with significant reduction in clinical events when compared with provisional stenting. Recently, randomized clinical trial has demonstrated the net clinical benefits by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided implantation of drug-eluting stent in all-comers. However, the improvement in clinical outcome after DK crush treatment guided by IVUS over angiography guidance for patients with complex bifurcation lesions have never been studied in a randomized fashion.

In Vitro Activity of Imipenem/Relebactam Against Enterobacteriaceae Isolates Obtained from Intra-abdominal, Respiratory Tract, and Urinary Tract Infections in China: Study for Monitoring Antimicrobial Resistance Trends (SMART), 2015-2018.

Background: Considering the increasing incidence of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in China, this study aimed to establish the in vitro effectiveness of imipenem/relebactam (IMI/REL) on clinical Enterobacteriaceae isolates derived from intra-abdominal infections (IAIs), respiratory tract infections (RTIs), and urinary tract infections (UTIs) in China between 2015 and 2018.

Methods: In total, 8781 Enterobacteriaceae isolates from IAI, RTI, and UTI samples were collected from 22 hospitals across 7 geographic regions of China. Susceptibility to antimicrobial drugs was tested using the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute broth microdilution and breakpoints, and IMI/REL activity was assessed using United States Food and Drug Administration guidelines.
