Introduction: Follicle development is a critical process in the female reproductive system, with significant implications for fertility and reproductive health. Germinal vesicle (GV) oocytes are primary oocytes that are arrested in the dictyate stage, also known as the diplotene stage of meiotic prophase I. Metaphase II (MII) is the stage at which the oocyte is typically retrieved for assisted reproductive technologies such as fertilization (IVF).

Antibiotics Research and Re-evaluation Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province, Sichuan Industrial Institute of Antibiotics, School of Pharmacy Chengdu University Chengdu China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The vaginal microbiome significantly impacts reproductive health, especially in relation to infertility and in vitro fertilization (IVF) success, as evidenced by a study involving 1411 individuals.
  • - Findings indicate that a moderate abundance of specific microbes is linked to higher pregnancy rates, while both low and high abundances are associated with poorer outcomes; specifically, a moderate presence (~80%) yielded better results compared to higher abundances (>90%).
  • - Analysis reveals that nonpregnant women have more antibiotic-resistance genes, suggesting potential differences in vaginal microbiomes linked to infertility, which could lead to improved IVF strategies.

Objective: To investigate the predictors of clinical pregnancy and live birth rate in patients with recurrent embryo implantation failure (RIF) treated with fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) technique.

Method: This retrospective cohort study was conducted in Jinjiang District Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, China. Patients were recruited who were enrolled at this hospital between November 1, 2019 and August 31, 2022, and who met the following criteria: a frozen embryo transfer (FET) at day 5 or 6 blastocyst stage was performed and the number of transfer cycles was not less than two.

Background: Like the coronavirus disease 2019, the hepatitis B virus is also wreaking havoc worldwide, which has infected over 2 billion people globally. Using an experimental animal model, our previous research observed that the hepatitis B virus genes integrated into human spermatozoa can replicate and express after being transmitted to embryos. However, as of now, this phenomenon has not been confirmed in clinical data from patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists wanted to see how electro-acupuncture (a special type of acupuncture with electricity) affects blood flow in women who have problems getting pregnant.
  • *They studied 80 women, dividing them into two groups: one got the acupuncture treatment, while the other did not receive any treatment.
  • *The results showed that the acupuncture group had better blood flow to their uterus and ovaries, but there were no big differences in getting pregnant between the two groups.

Acupuncture and Tuina School, Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chengdu, Sichuan, PR China; Department of Reproductive Immunology, Sichuan Jinxin Xi'nan Women's and Children's Hospital, Chengdu, Sichuan, PR China. Electronic address:

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the endometrial receptivity array (ERA), endometrial immune profiling, and a combination of both in improving the pregnancy outcomes for multiple implantation failure patients. According to patients' willingness, 1429 women who incurred at least two or more consecutive implantation failures in IVF/ICSI treatment opted for frozen embryo transfer and were divided into four groups: 'No test', 'Immune Profiling', 'ERA' and 'ERA+ Immune Profiling'. Women in three test groups underwent timed endometrial biopsy for ERA, immune profiling, a combination of both.

Transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation benefits postoperative pain relief of oocyte retrieval: A randomized controlled trial.

J Integr Med

January 2024

Acupuncture and Tuina School, Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chengdu 610000, Sichuan Province, China; Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, Sichuan Jinxin Xi'nan Women's and Children's Hospital, Chengdu 610000, Sichuan Province, China. Electronic address:

Background: Transvaginal oocyte retrieval is frequently followed by adverse events related to anesthesia and the procedure. Some research showed that transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) can relieve intraoperative pain and postoperative nausea.

Objective: This study examined whether TEAS can alleviate pain and relieve adverse symptoms after oocyte retrieval.

Neuroimaging studies have demonstrated the association of the cognitive control network (CCN) with the maintenance of chronic pain. However, whether and how dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), a key region within the CCN, is altered in menstrual pain is unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate alterations in the DLPFC functional connectivity network in patients with primary dysmenorrhea (PDM).

Cebpa is a master transcription factor gene for adipogenesis. However, the mechanisms of enhancer-promoter chromatin interactions controlling Cebpa transcriptional regulation during adipogenic differentiation remain largely unknown. To reveal how the three-dimensional structure of Cebpa changes during adipogenesis, we generated high-resolution chromatin interactions of Cebpa in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes and 3T3-L1 adipocytes using circularized chromosome conformation capture sequencing (4C-seq).
