Polysaccharides are one of the major bioactive components in chrysanthemum teas. In order to understand well the chemical structures and bioactivities of polysaccharides from different chrysanthemum teas (JHPs) collected in China, the physicochemical characteristics, antioxidant activity, and antiglycation activity of polysaccharides extracted from different chrysanthemum teas, including , , 'Huangju', 'Gongju', and 'Hangbaiju', were investigated. The results showed that the contents of total uronic acids and total phenolics in JHPs ranged from (28.

Despite previous studies on exploring the environmental effects of titanium dioxide nanoparticles particle (nTiO) on plants, the detailed impacts of nTiO on the antioxidant system and photosynthesis of plants is still not well understood. This study was aimed at investigating the physiological and biochemical responses to nTiO by oxidative damage, Ti bioaccumulation, cell death, and photosynthesis in wheat. The results showed that 5.

Activated carbon@FeO composites with good electromagnetic wave absorption performances in the low frequency range were synthesized the hydrothermal method. The crystal structure, microstructure, magnetization properties, frequency-dependent electromagnetic properties and microwave absorption properties of the as-prepared composites were characterized XRD, VSM, SEM, TEM and VNA, respectively. The results indicated that the electromagnetic wave absorption performance of the composites can be adjusted through the addition of activated carbon.

Two 3-4 hetero-metal pentanuclear complexes with the formula {[CrLnL(OH)(HO)]EtNH} [Ln=Tb (), Dy (); HL=pivalic acid, EtN=triethylamine] have been produced. The metal core of each cluster is made up of a trigonal bipyramid with three Ln ions (plane) and two Cr ions (above and below) held together by six -OH bridges. Also reported with this series is the diamagnetic Cr-Y analogue ().

One hundred mice were randomly divided into five groups. The mice in one group were injected with physiological saline as the normal control group. The mice in the other four groups were injected with physiological saline, sulfated Chuanminshen violaceum polysaccharides (SCVP), Chuanminshen violaceum polysaccharide (CVP) and astragalus polysaccharide (AP) once daily for 7 d and then with cyclophosphamide (CY) in the last 3 d.

Somites are embryonic precursors that give rise to the axial skeleton and skeletal muscles and form the segmental vertebrate body plan. Somitogenesis is controlled by the "segmentation clock", which contains multiple oscillator genes that must be tightly regulated at both the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels for proper clock function. However, how the segmentation clock governs the formation of the somites at post-transcriptional level, remains unclear.

The anti-inflammatory activity of the essential oil from C. longepaniculatum was evaluated by three experimental models including the dimethyl benzene-induced ear edema in mice, the carrageenan-induced paw edema in rat and the acetic acid-induced vascular permeability in mice. The influence of the essential oil on histological changes and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), histamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) production associated with carrageenan-induced rat paw edema was also investigated.

Essential oil has performed a variety of indirect services used as insect/pest repellent. The present study investigated the acute and subchronic toxicity of eucalyptus oil emulsion in water (EOE). In addition, we conduct safety pharmacology evaluation of EOE to supplement the toxicity tests and provide a basis for a comprehensive understanding of the toxicity of EOE.

γ-terpineol inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in human liver cancer BEL-7402 cells in vitro.

Int J Clin Exp Pathol

July 2015

Key Lab of Aromatic Plant Resources Exploitation and Utilization in Sichuan Higher Education, Yibin College Yibin, Sichuan, China.

To investigate the effect of γ-terpineol on cell proliferation and apoptosis of human hepatoma BEL-7402 cells to elucidate its molecular mechanism. Here, BEL-7402 cells were treated with various concentrations (40, 80, 160, 320 and 640 μg/ml) of γ-terpineol for 48 h, cell proliferation was determined by 3-(4,5-dimethyl-thiazolyl-2)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromides (MTT) assay. Cell colony inhibition was determined by soft agar assay.

Preparation of specific anti-Helicobacter pylori yolk antibodies and their antibacterial effects.

Int J Clin Exp Pathol

July 2015

Department of Microbiology, West China of Preclinical and Forensic Medicine, Sichuan University Chengdu 610041, China.

Objective: To study immunization procedures and preparation methods of specific IgY antibodies (IgY-Hp, IgY-IB) produced by hens immunized with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) bacterial antigen and recombinant Hp specific antigen IB, detect the inhibition effects on Hp growth and Hp urease activity, and study the effects of oral administration for treating Hp infection.

Methods: By using recombinant cholera toxin subunit B (rCTB) as an adjuvant, hens received intramuscular injection immunization for continuous 7 times at an interval of 14 days. Then, the eggs were collected; IgY was purified.

The combined subchronic effects of exposure to lead acetate and cadmium chloride on apoptosis protein expression were detected in the liver and kidney of rats to investigate the hazards of environmentally relevant, low-dose exposure to these compounds. The TUNEL assay showed that there were increased numbers of apoptotic cells. Immunohistochemical tests showed increased numbers of positive cells under Bax and caspase-3 protein detection and decreased Bcl-2 protein.
