Objective In this study, we aimed to investigate the prognostic value of postoperative lymph node ratio (LNR)in locally advanced gastric cancer (GC) patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Methods LNR was calculated as the ratio of positive LNs to the total LNs removed. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted to estimate the cut-off value of LNR for recurrence.

Background: Despite implementation of a controlled diet, children with classical galactosemia (CG) may develop a variety of developmental and cognitive problems. In this study, we examined the early developmental status of, as well as the neurological and neuroradiological findings for, children with CG.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 46 galactosemia patients who were followed between 2003 and 2017.

Aims: This study compared the early-term outcomes of mechanical ventilation (MV)/surfactant treatment with nasal-continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS).
Materials And Methods: Data from newborns born between ≥24 and ≤32 weeks of gestation, hospitalized at our newborn intensive care unit, and diagnosed with RDS between January 2009 and February 2012 were analyzed.
Results: Of 193 newborns with RDS who were enrolled in the study, 113 were treated with nCPAP and 80 with MV at a level of 57.

Background: Recently, total laparoscopic pancreatectomy has been performed at many centres as an alternative to open surgery. In this study, we aimed to present the difficulties that we have encountered in converting from classic open pancreaticoduodenectomy to total laparoscopic pancreatectomy.
Materials And Methods: Between December 2012 and January 2014, we had 100 open pancreaticoduodenectomies.

Background: Developed for the treatment of deformity correction, computer-assisted circular external fixators in recent years have also been used for fracture fixation. In this study, we aimed to present the efficacy of computer-assisted circular external fixator use in open long bone fractures with our new technique.
Methods: Between February 2013 and June 2014, 14 patients (mean age 24.

• Hydrometrocolpos is a rare congenital malformation of the female in neonate. • CA 19-9 and CA 125 are widely used as tumor markers, however several benign conditions are also known to increase levels. • Here we report a newborn with hydrometrocolpos due to distal vaginal atresia and elevated serum CA 19-9 and CA 125 levels.

Nasal edema and volume changes are unavoidable processes during the healing period after rhinoplasty. Various applications were reported regarding the prevention of early edema; however, the literature shows no study focused on the course of the nasal edema and volume changes up-to-date. We aimed to study the nasal volume changes during the first year of postoperative healing period and to form a recovery and volume change diagram with the obtained data.

Various reconstruction techniques, using the remaining lip or the adjacent cheek tissue, have been described for the repair of lower lip defects. With these techniques, microstomia, commissural distortion, functional insufficiency, and sensorial loss might be observed. The authors describe a technique of lower lip reconstruction with preservation of neuromuscular tissue as a single-stage procedure.

In this study authors aim to produce carbon foams with controllable pore size and distribution with high ratio of open porosity and to determine the cytotoxicity, and the bio-compatibility of the carbon foams by controlled experiments on the Dawley rats. Carbon foams are produced from Mitsubishi AR pitch at different pressures, temperatures, pressure release times, and additives for the purpose of using it as a bone implant material. Carbon foams with controllable range of pore sizes and distribution by using temperatures between 283 and 300 degrees C, pressures between 38 and 78 bar, and pressure release times between 5 and 600 s.

The Wright needle is a widely used instrument for insertion of fascia lata or a synthetic material during frontalis suspension surgery; however, difficulties in handling this instrument are frequently encountered by many surgeons. We describe an 18-gauge needle with a 4/0 monofilament polypropylene suture as an alternative to the Wright needle for placement of the sling material in frontalis suspension surgery. Less slippage and easier control of the needle's direction and depth of tissue penetration result in more accurate placement of the material and a reduction in damage to the surrounding tissues.

Purpose: To analyze implant infection in patients with porous orbital implants.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 212 patients with one of five types of porous orbital implants (bone-derived hydroxyapatite [HA], coralline HA, synthetic HA, porous polyethylene, and aluminium oxide) was conducted. Reasons for surgery, type of surgery, type of implant, peg system used, time of pegging, problems before and after pegging, treatment, and follow-up duration were recorded for all patients, along with additional data including time of onset of infection, microorganism cultured, antibiotics used, patient response to antibiotic therapy, additional interventions, and final status for patients with infection.
