Background: Critical cerebrospinal fluid hypovolemia (CCSFH) is a rare postcraniotomy condition in patients with acute supratentorial brain injury, often mistaken for intracranial hypertension. This article aims to enhance awareness of CCSFH by describing its clinical and radiological characteristics.

Methods: Between January 2019 and November 2023, 330 consecutive patients with acute critical brain injury underwent supratentorial craniotomy.

Background: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a common pulmonary manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with a poor prognosis. However, the role of blood biomarkers in RA-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is ill-defined. We aim to evaluate the role of YKL-40 and Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) in the diagnosis and severity evaluation of RA-ILD.

Association between life's essential 8 and periodontitis: a study based on NHANES 2009-2014.

Background: This research aims to investigate the relationship between Life's Essentials 8 (LE8), the American Heart Association's latest indicator, and periodontitis. The purpose is to provide guidance on preventative measures.

Methods: Data for our investigation were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2009-2014, with a total of 8,784 participants eligible.

KAT7 enhances the proliferation and metastasis of head and neck squamous carcinoma by promoting the acetylation level of LDHA.

Lysine acetyltransferase 7 (KAT7), a histone acetyltransferase, has recently been identified as an oncoprotein and has been implicated in the development of various malignancies. However, its specific role in head and neck squamous carcinoma (HNSCC) has not been fully elucidated. Our study revealed that high expression of KAT7 in HNSCC patients is associated with poor survival prognosis and silencing KAT7 inhibits the Warburg effect, leading to reduced proliferation, invasion, and metastatic potential of HNSCC.

The association between non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) and prevalence of periodontitis among US adults: a cross-sectional NHANES study.

The non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) is a recently developed lipid parameter, but there is currently a lack of research exploring its relationship with periodontitis. This study aims to identify the potential association between NHHR and periodontitis. The association between NHHR and periodontitis were examined through univariate and multivariate weighted logistic regression utilizing the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 2009 to 2014.

Different lumbar fusion techniques for lumbar spinal stenosis: a Bayesian network meta-analysis.

Objective: To comprehensively compare and assess the effects of different lumbar fusion techniques in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS).

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases were systematically searched up to December 24, 2022 in this network meta-analysis. Outcomes were pain (pain, low back pain, and leg pain), Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), complications, reoperation, and fusion.

Role of PPARG in Chemosensitivity-Regulating Network for Hypopharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

PPARG has been reported to promote chemosensitivity in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HSCC). However, few studies tested its significance in the texture of a complex molecular network regulating chemosensitivity in HSCC. Here, we first employed RNA expression data analysis and literature data mining to uncover candidate genes related to HSCC chemosensitivity.

Background: This study aimed to compare the clinical efficacy of microplate trans-carpometacarpal joint fixation and non-trans-carpometacarpal joint fixation in treating fractures and dislocation or subluxation of the base of the fourth and fifth metacarpal bones.

Method: From 2015 to 2021, 100 cases of metacarpal basal fractures with dislocation or subluxation were randomly divided into the trans-carpometacarpal joint fixation group (group A) and non-trans-carpometacarpal joint fixation group (group B). Group A (n = 50) comprised 44 males and 6 females, with an average age of 28.

Orthogeriatric co-managements lower early mortality in long-lived elderly hip fracture: a post-hoc analysis of a prospective study.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of orthogeriatric co-management care in long-lived elderly hip fracture patients (age ≥ 90).

Methods: Secondary analysis was conducted in long-lived hip fracture patients between 2018 to 2019 in 6 hospitals in Beijing, China. Patients were divided into the orthogeriatric co-management group (CM group) and traditional consultation mode group (TC group) depending on the management mode.

The Consistency Between the Preoperative 3D-Reconstructed Meckel's Cave and the Intraoperative Balloon Results in Percutaneous Balloon Compression.

Objective: To predict the volume and shape of the balloon before PBC by reconstructing the Meckel's cave (MC) and establishing a volumetric measurement model, supporting preoperative preparation and intraoperative decisions.

Methods: The clinical data of 31 patients with good therapeutic effects who underwent PBC are retrospectively collected, including preoperative MRI, the volume of contrast agent injected into the balloon, and intraoperative lateral X-ray images. The MC on the affected side of the 31 patients is reconstructed based on MRI using 3D Slicer, while the volume of the MC is calculated to compare with the volume of contrast agent.

Serum CHI3L1 as a biomarker of interstitial lung disease in rheumatoid arthritis.

Background: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a relatively prevalent extra-articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and contributes to significant morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to analyze the association between chitinase-3 like-protein-1(CHI3L1) and the presence of RA-ILD.

Methods: A total of 239 RA patients fulfilling the American Rheumatism Association (ACR) 1987 revised criteria were enrolled and subclassified as RA-ILD and RA-nILD based on the results of high-resolution computed tomography scans (HRCT) of the chest.

In vitro assessment included wound-healing assay, western blotting, and alizarin red staining after co-culture of the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and induced macrophages.

To investigate the relationship between refractive status and ocular biometric parameters in preschool children in Shunyi District, Beijing. This cross-sectional study employed a random cluster sampling method to measure the ocular axial length (AL), corneal curvature(CR), anterior chamber depth, and horizontal corneal diameter (WTW) using an optical biometer in 3-6-year-old children from 11 kindergartens in Shunyi District, Beijing. The ratio of AL to corneal curvature radius (AL/CR) was calculated.

Camrelizumab as a novel third or post-third-line treatment strategy in small cell lung cancer: a retrospective study of 12 patients.

Background: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) constitutes 15% of all lung cancer cases, with a comparatively low survival rate. [Clinicopathological features and prognosis of kidney injury in patients after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation].

To summarize the clinicopathological features and prognosis of kidney injury after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), to provide basis for preventing its occurrence and development. By using a retrospective cohort study method, we collected the clinical and renal biopsy pathological data of all the patients who hospitalized in the Department of Nephrology of Peking University First Hospital from June 2011 to June 2021 with renal injury after HSCT and underwent renal biopsy, and prognosis was followed up by telephone. The clinical laboratory characteristics, renal pathology and prognosis, and their association were analyzed.
