Water polluted by pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) and water-borne pathogens urgently need to develop eco-friendly and advanced water treatment techniques. This paper evaluates the potential of using calcium peroxide (CaO), a safe and biocompatible oxidant both PhACs (thiamphenicol, florfenicol, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, and primidone) and pathogens (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus) in water. This paper evaluates the potential of using calcium peroxide (CaO) as a safe and biocompatible oxidant to remove both PhACs (thiamphenicol, florfenicol, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, and primidone) and pathogens (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus) in water.

Phase-Contrast Magnetic Resonance Angiography (PC-MRA) is a potential way of cerebrovascular imaging, which can suppress non-vascular tissue while presenting vessels. But PC-MRA will bring much noise and is easy to result in partially broken vessels. Usually, deep learning is an effective way to quantify vessels.

Drug-loaded pH-responsive nanoparticles are potential drug carriers in nanotherapeutics delivery because they can remain stable in normal tissues but can disassemble and release drug molecules in tumors. In this study, the mechanisms of self-assembly and disassembly were investigated by analyzing the characteristics of three kinds of biomimetic peptides with different components and sequences. The structural parameters and energy changes during self-assembly and disassembly were calculated by molecular dynamics simulation.

As a very attractive clean energy, hydrogen has a high energy density and great potential to achieve zero pollution emission. Therefore, the preparation of hydrogen evolution electrocatalysts with excellent performance is an urgent task to ameliorate the global energy shortage and environmental pollution. Here, a trace amount of NiP coupled with CoMoP nanosheets (NCMP) was synthesized by the one-step hydrothermal method and low-temperature phosphidation.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neuro-developmental disorder that affects the social abilities of patients. Studies have shown that a small number of abnormal functional connections (FCs) exist in the cerebral hemisphere of ASD patients. The identification of these abnormal FCs provides a biological ground for the diagnosis of ASD.

Volatile fatty acids (VFAs) have great potential as cheap raw materials in microbial oil synthesis and reducing the cost of substrates is essential for the development of microbial oil biosynthesis. In this study, the food waste hydrolysate and synthetic VFAs media were both used as substrate to synthesis microbial oil. The optimal short-chain VFAs ratio for microbial oil synthesis is 20:5:5 and increasing the proportion of propionic acid is the key to obtaining odd fatty acids.

TiO nanohelices (NHs) have attracted extensive attention owing to their high aspect ratio, excellent flexibility, elasticity, and optical properties, which endow promising performances in a vast range of vital fields, such as optics, electronics, and micro/nanodevices. However, preparing rigid TiO nanowires (TiO NWs) into spatially anisotropic helical structures remains a challenge. Here, a pressure-induced hydrothermal strategy was designed to assemble individual TiO NWs into a DNA-like helical structure, in which a Teflon block was placed in an autoclave liner to regulate system pressure and simulate a cell-rich environment.

Microbial activities can change the properties of biofilm/metal interfaces to accelerate or decelerate the corrosion of metals in a given environment. Microbiologically influenced corrosion inhibition (MICI) is the inhibition of corrosion that is directly or indirectly induced by microbial action. Compared with conventional methods for protection from corrosion, MICI is environmentally friendly and an emerging approach for the prevention and treatment of (bio)corrosion.

With the development of 3C (chromosome conformation capture) and its derivative technology Hi-C (High-throughput chromosome conformation capture) research, the study of the spatial structure of the genomic sequence in the nucleus helps researchers understand the functions of biological processes such as gene transcription, replication, repair, and regulation. In this paper, we first introduce the research background and purpose of Hi-C data visualization analysis. After that, we discuss the Hi-C data analysis methods from genome 3D structure, A/B compartment, TADs (topologically associated domain), and loop detection.

This paper studies the problem of path tracking of Autonomous Ground Vehicles (AGVs) in the presence of sideslip angles. An observer is designed to estimate both the sideslip angle and the vehicle yaw rate, based on which an observer-based controller is established such that the closed-loop system is stable and the vehicle follows a desired path accurately. In particular, the nonlinear vehicle dynamics model is reformulated as a Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) system, and a finite frequency H criteria is satisfied such that the disturbances are attenuated effectively, the parameter-dependent gain matrices are calculated simultaneously by solving a convex optimization problem.

The influence of NaCl concentration on microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) of Q235 carbon steel by the halophilic archaeon Natronorubrum tibetense was investigated by immersion tests and electrochemical measurements. An increase in NaCl concentration from 0 g/mL to 0.1 g/mL promoted the anodic dissolution of carbon steel and accelerated its corrosion, but MIC did not occur.

Potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) are currently being investigated as a potential alternative to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) because of the natural abundance of K resources. Presently, it is crucial yet challenging to explore suitable anode materials for stable K-storage. Herein, a novel robust CoP-carbon composite with highly dispersed CoP nanoparticles (NPs) immobilized in natural cellulose nanofiber network (CNF)-derived carbon (denoted as CoP@CNFC) is synthesized chemical bonding through a facile hydrothermal and subsequent phosphidation approach.

Compared with single fault, the occurrence and composition of coupling faults have more uncertainties and diversities, which make fault classification a challenging topic in academic research and industrial application areas. In this paper, the classification problems of coupling faults are addressed from a new perspective, which will provide diagnostic decisions for online operators to take immediate remedial measures to bring the abnormal operation back to an incontrol state. Specifically, the main innovations are: (1) a semisupervised classification scheme for coupling faults is first proposed, which combines adaptive classification with multi-task feature selection; (2) number of classifications can be learned adaptively and automatically; (3) common and specific features among single and the associated coupling faults can be captured, which are crucial for improving classification performance.

Low-energy minima structures for (CaCO), ≤ 28, are predicted using bottom-up genetic algorithms in conjunction with density functional theory electronic structure calculations, in comparison with the frozen and relaxed top-down clusters generated by cuts from the calcite, vaterite, and aragonite crystal structures. Similarities in structural motifs for the bottom-up and relaxed top-down are revealed using a fragment recognition technique. Fragment energy decomposition analysis shows that the bottom-up and relaxed top-down clusters belong to two classes of amorphous clusters with distinct intracluster energy distributions, despite their structural similarity.
