Background: The objectives of this study were to assess the safety and efficacy of drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) as neoadjuvant therapy before liver transplantation (LT) for advanced-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and to analyze the prognostic factors.
Aim: To determine whether DEB-TACE before LT is superior to LT for advanced-stage HCC.
Methods: A total of 99 individuals diagnosed with advanced HCC were studied retrospectively.

Obesity is a global health concern and independent risk factor for cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, evidence on the causal links between obesity and HCC is limited and inconclusive. This study aimed to investigate the causal relationship between obesity-related traits and HCC risk and explore underlying mechanisms using bioinformatics approaches.

CD38 antigen is a glycoprotein that found on the surface of several immune cells, and this property makes its monoclonal antibodies have the effect of targeted elimination of immune cells. Therefore, the CD38 monoclonal antibody (such as daratumumab, Isatuximab) becomes a new treatment option for membranous nephropathy, lupus nephritis, renal transplantation, and other refractory kidney diseases. This review summarizes the application of CD38 monoclonal antibodies in different kidney diseases and highlights future prospects.

Background: Elevated preoperative γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels or reduced serum albumin levels have been established as negative prognostic factors for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and various other tumors. Nonetheless, the prognostic significance of the GGT to serum albumin ratio (GAR) in liver transplantation (LT) therapy for HCC is still not well-defined.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 141 HCC patients who underwent LT at Shulan (Hangzhou) Hospital from June 2017 to November 2020.

The population of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients along with relevant advanced liver disease is projected to continue growing, because currently no medications are approved for treatment. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is believed a novel and promising therapeutic approach based on the concept of the gut-liver axis in liver disease. There has been an increase in the number of pre-clinical and clinical studies evaluating FMT in NAFLD treatment, however, existing findings diverge on its effects.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been identified to be dysregulated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and implicated in the progression of this cancer. Here, this work aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of circ_0082374 on NSCLC progression. Levels of circ_0082374, miR-491-5p, GPX4 (glutathione peroxidase 4) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins were examined by quantitative real-time PCR or western blotting, respectively.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a common blood cancer primarily affecting the bone marrow and blood cells, which is prevalent among adults. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to play a crucial role in the development and progression of AML. LBX2-AS1 is a recently discovered lncRNA that has been linked to the pathogenesis and progression of several types of cancer.

Diminished or lost Major Histocompatibility Complex class I (MHC-I) expression is frequently observed in tumors, which obstructs the immune recognition of tumor cells by cytotoxic T cells. Restoring MHC-I expression by promoting its transcription and improving protein stability have been promising strategies for reestablishing anti-tumor immune responses. Here, through cell-based screening models, we found that cediranib significantly upregulated MHC-I expression in tumor cells.

Objectives: Dual-phenotype hepatocellular carcinoma (DPHCC) is a rare subtype of hepatocellular carcinoma characterized by high invasiveness and a poor prognosis. The study aimed to compare clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of DPHCC with that of non-DPHCC and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), exploring the most valuable features for diagnosing DPHCC.
Methods: A total of 208 cases of primary liver cancer, comprising 27 DPHCC, 113 non-DPHCC, and 68 ICC, who undergone gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI, were enrolled in this study.

Research on liver aging has become prominent and has attracted considerable interest in uncovering the mechanism and therapeutic targets of aging to expand lifespan. In addition, multi-omics studies are widely used to perform further mechanistic investigations on liver aging. In this review, we illustrate the changes that occur with aging in the liver, present the current models of liver aging, and emphasize existing multi-omics studies on liver aging.

CD103 DC is crucial for antitumor immune response. As a promising local therapy on cancers, nanosecond pulsed electric field (nsPEF) has been widely reported to stimulate anti-tumor immune response, but the underlying relationship between intratumoral CD103 DC and nsPEF treatment remains enigmatic. Here, we focused on the behavior of CD103 DC in response to nsPEF treatment and explored the underlying mechanism.
