To use metagenomic sequencing to compare the differences in intestinal microbiota species and metabolic pathways in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis with or without ascites and further explore the correlation between the differential microbiota and clinical indicators and metabolic pathways. 20 hepatitis B cirrhosis cases [10 without ascites (HBLC-WOA), 10 with ascites (HBLC-WA), and 5 healthy controls (HC)] were selected from the previously studied 16S rRNA samples. Metagenome sequencing was performed on the intestinal microbiota samples.

Context: Our previous studies indicated that Yiguanjian decoction (YGJ) has an anti-hepatic-fibrosis effect and could regulate macrophage status.
Objective: To elucidate the mechanism of YGJ in regulating macrophages.
Materials And Methods: Liver cirrhosis was induced by CCl for 12 weeks combined with 2-acetylaminofluorene (2-AAF) for the last 4 weeks in male Wistar rats.

Objective:: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is the most common degenerative disease of the joints caused by articular cartilage injury, degeneration of joint edges and hyperplasia of subchondral bone. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of clinical therapy of platelet-rich plasma vs hyaluronic acid injections in patients with KOA.
Methods:: We systematically investigated Pubmed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library for all related articles published through May 2020.

Histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) plays a vital role in chondrocyte hypertrophy and bone formation. To investigate the function of HDAC4 in postnatal skeletal development, the present study developed lineage‑specific HDAC4‑knockout mice [collagen type 2α1 (Col2α1)‑Cre, HDAC4d/d mice] by crossing transgenic mice expressing Cre recombinase. Thus, a specific ablation of HDAC4 was performed in Col2α1‑expressing mice cells.

Background: Inflammation plays an important role in polycystic kidney disease (PKD). Cordyceps sinensis, a prized -Chinese medicinal herb, exerts anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory and anti-metastatic effects and benefits patients with kidney diseases. The aim of this study was to test the efficacy of FTY720, an immunosuppressant derived from C.

The role of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) in chronic kidney disease (CKD) is unclear. Through inhibition of type I protein arginine methyltransferases (PRMTs), a novel strategy, we aimed to determine the effect of ADMA on renal fibrosis and explore its underlying working mechanisms. After sham or unilateral ureter ligation (UUO) operation, 20-25 g male c57 mice were treated with vehicle or PT1001B, an inhibitor of type I PRMTs, for 13 d.

Portal hypertension (PHT) is an important consequence of liver cirrhosis, which can lead to complications that adversely affect a patient's quality of life and survival, such as upper gastrointestinal bleeding, ascites, and portosystemic encephalopathy. In recent years, advances in molecular biology have led to major discoveries in the pathological processes of PHT, including the signaling pathways that may be involved: PI3K-AKT-mTOR, RhoA/Rho-kinase, JAK2/STAT3, and farnesoid X receptor. However, the pathogenesis of PHT is complex and there are numerous pathways involved.

Notch signaling has been demonstrated to be involved in ductular reactions and fibrosis. Previous studies have shown that Huang Qi Decoction (HQD) can prevent the progression of cholestatic liver fibrosis (CLF). However, whether HQD affects the Notch signaling pathway is unclear.
