Background: Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MI/R) injury is the main cause of death worldwide and poses a significant threat to cardiac health. Ginsenoside Rg1 has been shown to have inhibitory effects on inflammatory activation, oxidative stress, and cardiac injury, suggesting that Rg1 may have therapeutic effects on MI/R injury. However, the mechanism remains to be further studied.

Objectives: Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) represents a type of common malignant tumor originating in the digestive tract. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified to engage in regulating the initiation and development of COAD. LncRNA LINC02253 has been reported abnormal expressed in COAD, but the underlying mechanism has not been discussed so far.

Background And Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome is one of the most common types of endocrine and metabolic diseases in women of reproductive age that needs to be screened early and assessed non-invasively. The objective of the current study was to develop prediction models for polycystic ovary syndrome based on data of tongue and pulse using machine learning techniques.
Methods: A dataset of 285 polycystic ovary syndrome patients and 201 healthy women were investigated to identify the significant tongue and pulse parameters for predicting polycystic ovary syndrome.

As a global zoonotic disease, fascioliasis is a serious threat to human and animal health and animal husbandry development. The complexity of the classification and identification of Lymnaeidae, the intermediate host of , notably the emergence of its sibling species, leads to misunderstanding of geographical distribution and transmission potential of . This review introduces the classification of flukes of the family Fasciolidae, describes the geographical distribution of and and discusses the co-evolution of and Lymnaeidae host snails, and the effects of human activities and ruminant migration on global spread and transmission of .

Objective: To evaluate the effect of Modified Shenqi Dihuang Decoction (MSDD) on human hormone-sensitive LNCaP prostate cancer cells and its action mechanism.
Methods: LNCaP prostate cancer cells were treated with MSDD, followed by detection of the proliferation and apoptosis of the cells by MTT assay and flow cytometry respectively and measurement of glucose uptake and lactate production by glucose uptake assay and colorimetry respectively. The expressions of the apoptosis-related proteins Bcl-2, Bax and cleaved-caspase-3, glycolysis-related proteins HK2, GLUT1, PKM2 and LDHA, and PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway-related proteins in the LNCaP cells were determined by Western blot.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Modified Shenqi Dihuang Decoction (MSDD) on bone metastasis of hormone-sensitive PCa after castration.
Methods: Seventy-six hormone-sensitive PCa patients with bone metastasis were randomly divided into a control and an MSDD group of an equal number, the former treated by maximal androgen blockade (MAB) and the latter with MSDD in addition to MAB, both for 6 months. Comparisons were made between the two groups of patients in their TCM symptom scores, quality of life (QOL) scores and the incidence rates of castration resistance, bone metastasis and adverse events.

Objective: To investigate the effect of varicocelectomy (VCE) combined with medication of Qilin Pills (QLP) in the treatment of varicocele (VC)-associated male infertility.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data on 180 cases of VC-associated male infertility treated in our hospitals between October 2017 and March 2019, 67 by VCE ( the control group) and 113 by VCE in combination with 6-month medication of QLP after operation (the VCE+QLP group). We obtained the semen parameters from the patients before and at 1, 2, 3 and 6 months after surgery, measured their sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) before and at 6 months after operation, and recorded the rate of pregnancy at months postoperatively.

Objective: As some evidence has demonstrated the role of microRNA-221 (miR-221) on coronary heart disease (CHD), the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of miR-221-3p on CHD via regulating NLRP3/ASC/pro-caspase-1 inflammasome pathway.
Methods: Sixty CHD patients and 60 healthy controls were collected to detect the expression of miR-221-3p, NLRP3, ASC, pro-caspase-1 in peripheral blood and the contents of related factors in serum. The rats model of CHD was injected with miR-221-3p agomir or miR-221-3p antagomir to explore its functions in miR-221-3p, NLRP3, ASC and pro-caspase-1 expression, electrocardiogram data, cardiomyocytes apoptosis, myocardial injury, inflammatory reaction and oxidative stress of CHD rats.

Objective: To observe the anti-stress effect of acupuncture-assisted anesthesia in patients undergoing pulmonary lobectomy.
Methods: A randomized, controlled, single-blind clinical trial was conducted in the present study. A total of 48 patients undergoing pulmonary lobectomy were randomized into regular general anesthesia (RGA), general anesthesia combined with 2 Hz electroacupuncture (EA) (GA+2 Hz-EA), general anesthesia combined with 2 Hz/100 Hz EA (GA+2 Hz/100 Hz-EA), and GA + 100 Hz-EA groups (n=12).

The present paper studies gene regulation in kidney deficiency syndromes from the simple Nephrotic Syndrome and with the principle of positive-negative regulation to control the change-over of yin-yang, the modern molecular biological techniques can be used, such as gene chip, representational difference analysis (RDA) and gene sequence analysis, so as to investigate the inner relationship between the genes and kidney deficiency syndromes and prove the effect given by these genes on the pathophysiological status of change-over of yin-yang in kidney deficiency syndromes. This philosophical approach and method can also be adopted for studies of the related genes in other TCM syndromes.
