Background: Identifying and preserving the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) is of paramount importance during thyroid surgeries. Iatrogenic injuries to RLN (RLNI) are considered one of the most serious and feared complications of thyroidectomies. Surgically, there are four routes/approaches (lateral, inferior, superior, and medial) for localizing and identifying the RLN.

Tonsillectomy is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedure in otolaryngology especially in children. Extra-Rhino Cerebral Manifestations of Mucormycosis in Head and Neck Region: An Insight.

Mucormycosis is a potentially life-threatening fungal infection with a high mortality rate. The difficulty and delay in diagnosis due to its rarity usually results in a poor prognosis. Most common site in head and neck region is the nose and paranasal sinuses.

A contemporary overview on the enigma of managing recalcitrant or intractable post-operative otorrhoea following middle-ear surgery: perspectives, principles and practices.

Background: A common problem in otological surgeries is the persistence of ear discharge in a patient who has undergone middle-ear reconstructive surgery, despite an intact graft. There is a dearth of knowledge in the literature on treatment strategies in such post-operative cases of recalcitrant otorrhoea.

Method: This was a retrospective observational descriptive study conducted on 45 patients who fitted the criteria for recalcitrant post-operative otorrhoea.

Sinonasal Mucormycosis: A to Z.

Mucormycosis caused by one of the members of Mucoraceae family, is one of the most rapidly spreading and fatal fungal infection occurring mostly in Diabetic or Immunocompromised patients especially in developing countries. 26 patients suffering from sinonasal mucormycosis admitted in SGRRIM&HS, Dehradun from January 2013 to January 2017 are discussed. Diagnosis of mucormycosis was established on strong clinical suspicion with presence of grayish black crusting on nasal endoscopy which is confirmed by histopathology examination.

Management of Unstable Middle Turbinate in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery.

To propose a simple technique for preservation, medialization and stabilization of the middle turbinate through a planned medial synechiae formation using suction electrocautery between middle turbinate and nasal septum. Study design is Case series. 150 cases of chronic rhino sinusitis who underwent ESS were selected and stabilization of the middle turbinate through a planned medial synechiae formation using suction electrocautery was done as last step and results studied.

Complications of Paediatric Cochlear Implantation in the Population of Uttarakhand.

Cochlear implants surgery is now routinely done at this center. Complications which have been experienced in cochlear implant surgery at our center are discussed, as a detailed knowledge about the complications and their early anticipation can save an expensive device and most importantly patients morbidity. To discuss the complications of the paediatric cochlear implantation in the population of Uttarakhand.

A Perspective of Clinical Behaviour and Management of Deep Neck Space Infections (DNSI): The Clinical Conundrum.

The diagnosis and management of deep neck space infections remain a challenging task for otolaryngologists. A retrospective observational analysis of 137 cases of deep neck infections at a tertiary care centre was reviewed. We present 137 treated cases of DNSIs in a retrospective 5 years clinical study conducted in the department of otolaryngology at a tertiary care center from January 2012 to December 2016.
