Objective: This study was aimed to assess the effect of unilateral common carotid artery occlusion on brain pathophysiology in rats pretreated with subchronic hypoxia.
Materials And Methods: Rats (200 ± 20 g) were randomized into three groups: Group 1 served as sham, Group 2 were normoxic (21% O and 79% N), and Group 3 were hypoxia preconditioned (10% O and 90% N) for 21 days before left common carotid artery occlusion (LCCAO). The LCCAO was done for 75 min followed by reperfusion for 12 h.

Toxic metals, including excessive levels of essential metals tend to change biological structures and systems into either reversible or irreversible conformations, leading to the derangement of organ functions or ultimate death. Nickel, a known heavy metal is found at very low levels in the environment. Nickel is available in all soil types and meteorites and also erupts from volcanic emissions.

India faces a dual burden of increasing obesity and persistent underweight as it experiences the nutrition transition-the dietary and lifestyle changes that accompany globalization, economic development, and technological change. Yet, the nutrition transition is not solely a top-down process; rather, global forces converge with local practices at multiple levels of the social ecology. The family environment, a key site for the transmission of local customs and norms, remains largely unexplored in India.

The term fibro-osseous lesion encompasses a spectrum of disorders ranging from inflammatory to neoplastic that microscopically exhibit a connective tissue matrix containing formless trabeculae of compact bone. Characteristically, they are located over healthy bone, from which they are abruptly differentiated. The majority of the lesions arise from the maxillofacial region; the occurrence of a lesion in the external auditory canal (EAC) being extremely rare as is in our case.

Chondroid lipoma is a rare variant of lipoma and often confused with chondroid tumours such as soft tissue chondroma, extraskeletal chondrosarcoma and myxoid chondrosarcoma. It consists of two components - adipose tissue and cartilaginous tissue. Differentiating chondroid lipoma from its malignant variant such as extraskeletal chondrosarcoma and myxoid chondrosarcoma is necessary as the treatment modality is more intense and aggressive for latter.
