This study investigates the relationship between vitamin D levels and liver cirrhosis severity, a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality. Chronic liver diseases, stemming from conditions such as hepatitis, alcohol use, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, autoimmune diseases, and cryptogenic disorders, disrupt vitamin D metabolism, as the liver converts dietary and skin-derived vitamin D into 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D), the primary circulating form. The cross-sectional study conducted at the Department of General Medicine of BLDE (DU) Shri.

Castleman's disease (CD) is characterised by benign lymphoepithelial proliferation and is a peculiar form of angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia rather than a neoplasm or a hamartoma. CD is broadly classified as unicentric CD (UCD) and multicentric CD. In the unicentric variant, patients have localised disease affecting only a single lymph node or a group of adjacent nodes in a single region, which clinically presents as an enlarging mass without any other significant symptoms.

Modulation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway may aid in discovering new medications for the effective management of pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH). Given the therapeutic potential of Mucuna pruriens in several diseases, the present study aimed to analyze interactions of different bioactive compounds of Mucuna pruriens plant seeds with Wnt/β-catenin pathway targeting its various components like Wnt 3a, Frizzled 1, LRP 5/6, β-catenin, Disheveled, cyclin D1 by in silico analysis. The proposed work is based on computational analysis including ADME/T properties, by a Swiss ADME server.

Inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and lipid metabolism are all significantly influenced by the liver X receptor alpha (LXR-α) gene. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the liver X receptor alpha gene may result in the altered function of the gene, making the individual susceptible to DKD.

Vitiligo is an acquired depigmenting disorder due to the destructive loss of melanocytes, clinically presenting as hypopigmented or depigmented macules and/or patches. Many theories have been proposed to explain its etiopathogenesis among which cell-mediated immunity is one of the crucial links. Estimation of vitiligo activity and extent in a patient is important in tailoring an optimal treatment regimen.

Background Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a result of the interplay between genetic and environmental risk factors. A unique cytokine macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), expressed by inflammatory cells, acts via a cluster of differentiation 74 (CD74) and a cluster of differentiation 44 (CD44) receptors, leading to the recruitment of mononuclear neutrophils and lymphocytes. This cascade results in exaggerated inflammation and atherosclerosis.

Introduction Neutrophils that are at rest exhibit very low expression of CD64, the high-affinity immunoglobulin fragment crystallizable γ receptor I, which is also found in monocytes. Neutrophils that have been exposed to endotoxins or are infected express more CD64. Objectives The aim of this study was to assess the CD64 biomarker expression on neutrophils using the flow cytometry method and its comparison with total leukocyte count, C-reactive protein (CRP) level, and blood culture sensitivity test in the diagnosis of sepsis in adults.
