Predictors of Functional Outcomes of Nonoperatively Treated Extra-articular Distal End Radius Fractures in Older Individuals: A Prospective Clinical Study.

Background: Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are some of the most common injuries suffered by the elderly; however, there are varied opinions on management. As there is limited research on patient factors affecting functional outcomes in conservatively managed patients with DRFs, this study aimed to find predictive factors for functional outcomes in such patients.

Methods: Patients with DRFs satisfying the inclusion criteria were managed with closed reduction and slab followed by cast application.

Systematic video analysis of shoulder dislocations in professional male football (soccer): Injury mechanisms, situational and kinematic patterns.

Purpose: Shoulder dislocations in professional football are severe injuries with an increasing incidence and considerable layoff times. Unlike other football injuries, the mechanisms leading to shoulder dislocations are not well understood, which limits the development of targeted preventive measures. Thus, the aims of this study were: (1) to analyse injury mechanisms of shoulder dislocations in professional football, (2) to evaluate situational and (3) to assess kinematic patterns by performing a systematic video analysis.

Cirrhosis associated with increased complications and healthcare utilization following total shoulder arthroplasty.

Introduction: Cirrhosis is a known risk factor for morbidity and mortality following surgical procedures and has been associated with increased complications, hospital length of stay (LOS), and cost of admission following total joint arthroplasty. However, a paucity of literature exists evaluating the effect of cirrhosis on postoperative outcomes following total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the short-term outcomes following elective primary TSA in patients with cirrhosis compared to matched controls.

The double plate technique combined with the cable technique for treating sternoclavicular joint dislocation: a case report.

Background: Sternoclavicular joint dislocation (SJD) is rare, and joint instability after dislocation easily leads to deformity, pain, and limitations in performing activities, often requiring surgical treatment. Currently, there is no ideal internal fixation method for SJD.

Case Presentation: We report the case of a 38-year-old female patient with anterior dislocation of the right sternoclavicular joint (SJ) caused by a car accident who underwent open reduction and internal fixation using the double plate technique combined with the cable technique.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of hypothyroidism on 90-day medical complications as well as 2-year implant related complications and revision rates following TSA.

Methods: This retrospective database analysis evaluated patients who underwent TSA between October 1, 2015, and March 9, 2022.

Functional Outcomes of the Management of Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation With a Clavicle Hook Plate: A Retrospective Study.
