Article Synopsis
  • - The study analyzed the impact of using an aspirin-free strategy versus dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in patients undergoing coronary intervention while on oral anticoagulation (OAC).
  • - Among nearly 6,000 patients, the outcomes showed no significant difference in major bleeding events between the two strategies, regardless of OAC use.
  • - However, there was a slightly higher risk of cardiovascular events with the aspirin-free approach in patients taking OAC, suggesting potential concerns about this strategy's safety in high-risk groups.

Purpose: We evaluated the efficacy and safety of antiemetic therapy with olanzapine, a neurokinin-1 receptor antagonist (RA), a 5-hydroxytryptamine-3 (5-HT) RA, and dexamethasone for preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients receiving carboplatin-containing chemotherapy.

Patients And Methods: Chemotherapy-naïve patients scheduled to receive carboplatin (AUC ≥5) were randomly assigned to receive either olanzapine 5 mg once daily (olanzapine group) or placebo (placebo group) in combination with aprepitant, a 5-HT RA, and dexamethasone. The primary end point was the complete response (CR; no vomiting and no rescue therapy) rate in the overall phase (0-120 hours).

Postpartum depression (PPD) is a serious mental health issue among women after childbirth, and screening systems that incorporate questionnaires have been utilized to screen for PPD. These questionnaires are sensitive but less specific, and the additional use of objective measures could be helpful. The present study aimed to verify the usefulness of a measure of autonomic function, heart rate variability (HRV), which has been reported to be dysregulated in people with depression.

Numerous COVID-19 diagnostic imaging Artificial Intelligence (AI) studies exist. However, none of their models were of potential clinical use, primarily owing to methodological defects and the lack of implementation considerations for inference. In this study, all development processes of the deep-learning models are performed based on strict criteria of the "KAIZEN checklist", which is proposed based on previous AI development guidelines to overcome the deficiencies mentioned above.

(1) Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection is often followed by various complications, which can cause disturbances in daily life after recovery from the infectious state, although etiological mechanisms are not fully elucidated. Previous studies have indicated that autonomic dysregulation is an underlying factor, and it is of interest to clarify whether autonomic dysregulation is also present in the asymptomatic subjects after COVID-19 infection (post-COVID-19) for early detection of post-COVID-19 complications. (2) Methods: In the present study, autonomic activity was assessed using heart rate variability (HRV) analysis in the workers who recovered from mild COVID-19 infection ( = 39).
