The current narrative review was planned to elucidate the interplay between acupuncture, a cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the modulation of cellular mechanisms via Forkhead box O transcription factors, focussing on autophagy and cellular senescence. Autophagy, essential for cellular health, and cellular senescence, associated with aging and age-related diseases, are both significantly influenced by Forkhead box O transcription factors among other regulatory factors and pathways. These factors, known to diminish with age, play a pivotal role in promoting longevity.

This narrative review was planned to explore the efficacy of plasma-rich protein in musculoskeletal injuries, emphasising its impact on inflammatory markers, growth factors and the healing process. Musculoskeletal disorders pose a significant global health concern, with the plasmarich protein therapy emerging as a promising rehabilitative technique due to its potential to enhance healing. The therapy utilises the patients' cells to stimulate growth, repair tissues, and modulate inflammation, offering a shift towards patient-friendly, non-hospitalised treatment.

Laparoscopic simultaneous inguinal hernia repair and appendectomy in children: A multicenter study.

J Pediatr Surg

August 2022

Department of Pediatric Surgery, Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. Electronic address:

Background: Inguinal hernias (IHs) are sometimes encountered incidentally in children during laparoscopic appendectomy. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and outcomes of laparoscopic simultaneous inguinal hernia repair and appendectomy in children.

Methods: A multicentric study was performed in patients with AA and concurrent IH who received laparoscopic simultaneous inguinal hernia repair and appendectomy (study group), compared with patients who underwent two-stage laparoscopic procedures (control group) between September 2012 and January 2020.

Idiopathic enlargement of the right atrium (IERA) is a rare cardiac anomaly, and only sporadic cases have been reported. Little is known about its clinical relevance, and inconsistencies in medical and surgical management remain among different settings. In this paper, we systematically reviewed the published cases of the IERA in terms of clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management.

Development and validation of an UPLC-MS/MS method for the quantification of irinotecan, SN-38 and SN-38 glucuronide in plasma, urine, feces, liver and kidney: Application to a pharmacokinetic study of irinotecan in rats.

J Chromatogr B Analyt Technol Biomed Life Sci

March 2016

Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Houston, 1441 Moursund Street, Houston, TX 77030, USA. Electronic address:

The objective of this research is to develop and validate a sensitive and reproducible UPLC-MS/MS method to quantify irinotecan, its active metabolite SN-38 and SN-38 glucuronide (phase II metabolite of SN-38) simultaneously in different bio-matrices (plasma, urine, feces), tissues (liver and kidney) and to use the method to investigate its pharmacokinetic behavior in rats. Irinotecan, SN-38 and SN-38 glucuronide has been resolved and separated by C18 column using acetonitrile and 0.1% formic acid in water used as the mobile phases.

A mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) surface modified with poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) electrospun fibrous scaffold for bone regeneration was prepared by dip-coating a PLGA electrospun fibrous scaffold into MBG precursor solution. Different surface structures and properties were acquired by different coating times. Surface morphology, chemical composition, microstructure, pore size distribution, and hydrophilicity of the PLGA-MBG scaffold were characterized.
