A porous carbon/FeO nanocomposite (PC/FeO nanocomposite) was prepared through the pyrolysis of peanut shells as biowaste with ferrous ferric oxide to give a new magnetically recoverable catalyst. In the designed nanocomposite, magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles are properly distributed on the surface and cavities of porous carbon obtained from biomass. Increasing the active surface and magnetic recovery capability results in catalytic synergy, thereby promoting the reaction with an appropriate catalytic effect.

Conducting C-C cross-coupling reactions under convenient and mild conditions remains extremely challenging in traditional organic synthesis. In this study, ZnCoO@g-CN@Cu exhibited extraordinary photocatalytic performance as a new visible light harvesting heterogeneous copper-based photocatalyst in cyanation and Mizoroki-Heck visible-light-driven cross-coupling reactions at room temperature and in air. Surprisingly, by this method, the cyanation and Mizoroki-Heck cross-coupling reactions of various iodo-, bromo- and also the challenging chloroarenes with respectively K[Fe(CN)]·3HO and olefins produced promising results in a sustainable and mild media.

Thereafter, it was successfully applied as a new easily magnetically separable and reusable heterogeneous nanocatalyst for the Buchwald-Hartwig C-N bond formation reaction in DMF at 110 °C. Using this method, various kinds of nitrogen heterocycles, such as imidazoles, 2-methyl-1-imidazole, benzimidazole, indole, and 10-phenothiazine as well as aliphatic secondary amines such as piperidine, piperazine, morpholine, dimethylamine, and diethylamine, were reacted with aryl halide compounds, and the desired products were obtained with good to excellent yields.

The goal of this research was to assess the free (FLC) and microencapsulated (MLC) survivability using sodium alginate and mucilage (PMM), as a second layer to produce probiotic aloe vera jelly dessert (AVJD). To determine bead characteristics, the aspect ratio of the bead, survival in 72°C, and cold storage were assessed as well as for AVJD, survivability of probiotics in simulated gastrointestinal condition (SGIC), and storage time. The results showed that all the beads are spherical (aspect ratio = 1.

The aim of this study was to develop a new active coating of layer-by-layer (LbL) structure composed of alginate (as polyanions) and chitosan (as a polycation) containing sulfated polysaccharide (fucoidan) from , to protect rainbow trout fillets during refrigerated storage. Chitosan and alginate do not combine with each other as a homogeneous solution, so they are suitable for multilayer coatings. The results demonstrated that coating samples with chitosan and fucoidan significantly improved the quality of fish fillets and extended their shelf life from 6 to 16 days.

In this study, we conveniently prepared a novel robust heterogeneous magnetic nanocatalyst using a FeO@SiO core/shell stabilized by gallic acid. The catalyst was completely characterized by various physicochemical techniques, including infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), potentiometric titration, energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), zeta potential analysis, and BET. The potential ability of the newly developed sulfonated nanocatalyst was then exploited in the multicomponent synthesis of acridine-1,8-dione derivatives by considering the green chemistry matrix and under mild conditions.

Cardiovascular disease is prevalent globally and is the most common complication of metabolic syndrome (MetS). Previous studies have suggested that curcumin and probiotics may improve the lipid profile, so we aimed to investigate the effects of the edible powder enriched with these substances on lipid profile level and atherogenic indices such as Atherogenic Coefficient (AC), Castelli Risk Index-I (CRI-I), Castelli Risk Index-II (CRI-II), and Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP). In the present parallel randomized double-blinded placebo-controlled clinical trial, 124 people with MetS with overweight or obesity were randomly allocated to 4 groups and were followed up for 8 weeks.

This paper evaluates the electronic effects of molecular substituents on the stereoselectivity of the umpolung Staudinger catalytic reaction. This is especially important because experimental studies on constructing the β-lactam ring, a core structure of most antibiotics, through catalyzed Staudinger reactions have been massively progressing over the last century. Yet, there is a necessity for an in-depth understanding of the reaction mechanisms to help chemists, working on the well-established discoveries, improve these to optimize the stereoselectivity and yield of synthetic methods.
