To date, pagetoid spread-the proliferation of pagetoid cells in intraepidermal lesions, as observed in secondary extramammary Paget's disease-has not been reported in squamous epithelium derived from the extension of head and neck carcinomas. Herein, we report a case of pagetoid squamous cell proliferation associated with a primary intraosseous carcinoma (PIOC) arising in the periapical lesion of the maxilla, a finding not reported previously. A 60-year-old man presented with prostate adenocarcinoma and bilateral pubic bone, ilium bone, and sacral bone metastases.

Objectives: To investigate the relationship between physical activity and depressive symptoms in stroke survivors.
Design: A cross-sectional study utilizing National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2007-2018 data, employing propensity score matching to control for confounders.
Patients: 1,140 stroke survivors from NHANES, assessing depressive symptoms through the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) conducted via family interview or a mobile examination centre examination.

We aimed to investigate whether a linear relationship exists between swimming velocity and vertical body position for each stroke phase in front crawl, and to determine whether there are differences in the velocity effect among the stroke phases. Eleven male swimmers performed a 15 m front crawl at various swimming velocities. The whole-body centre of mass (CoM) was estimated from individual digital human models using inverse kinematics.

Purpose: To reveal problems of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for diagnosing gastric-type mucin-positive (GMPLs) and gastric-type mucin-negative (GMNLs) cervical lesions.
Methods: We selected 172 patients suspected to have lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia; their pelvic MR images were categorised into the training (n = 132) and validation (n = 40) groups. The images of the validation group were read twice by three pairs of six readers to reveal the accuracy, area under the curve (AUC), and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC).

A CpG oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG-ODN), iSN40, was originally identified as promoting the mineralization and differentiation of osteoblasts, independent of Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9). Since CpG ODNs are often recognized by TLR9 and inhibit osteoclastogenesis, this study investigated the TLR9 dependence and anti-osteoclastogenic effect of iSN40 to validate its potential as an osteoporosis drug. The murine monocyte/macrophage cell line RAW264.

A lower salt intake is an effective management strategy for hypertension and ultimately stroke. However, this strategy compromises the taste of food. To overcome this, a taste manipulation strategey using electronic taste simulation (ETS) has been established, but this has only been studied in healthy individuals.

Introduction: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by deficits in social interaction and communication, along with restricted and repetitive behaviors. Both genetic and environmental factors contribute to ASD, with prenatal exposure to valproic acid (VPA) and nicotine being linked to increased risk. Impaired adult hippocampal neurogenesis, particularly in the ventral region, is thought to play a role in the social deficits observed in ASD.

Although steatotic liver onset after natural menopause has been reported, evidence on the clinical course and treatment options for steatotic liver after surgical menopause is scarce. A 34-year-old woman with a history of severe obesity presented to our department with liver dysfunction following total hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy. Her serum estradiol level was notably low at 22 pg/mL, and a liver biopsy revealed significant fatty degeneration, lobular inflammation, hepatocyte ballooning, and stage F1 fibrosis.

Background And Aim: Post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) after major hepatopancreatoduodenectomy (HPD) is a challenge to overcome. However, the appropriate target proportion of the future liver remnant (pFLR) to prevent severe PHLF in major HPD remains uncertain. This study aimed to determine the minimum pFLR required for safe major HPD.

In an aging society, there is a growing interest in functional foods that offer anti-aging benefits. Food-derived bioactive compounds such as carotenoids and polyphenols can enhance skin elasticity and delay aging. However, the mechanisms by which these orally ingested compounds directly impact the skin are not fully understood.

High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

This study reports on an extremely rare case of non-traumatic atlantoaxial rotatory fixation (AARF) in an adult. Although there are numerous reports on traumatic AARF in adults, those on non-traumatic AARFs are limited. We present the case of a 25-year-old woman who developed neck pain with a limited range of motion (ROM) that began upon waking without any particular inducement.

Lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE) is a bioactive lipid mediator involved in diverse cellular functions. In this study, we investigated the effects of three LPE species, 1-palmitoyl LPE (16:0 LPE), 1-stearoyl LPE (18:0 LPE), and 1-oleoyl LPE (18:1 LPE) on pre-osteoblast MC3T3-E1 cells. All LPE species stimulated cell proliferation and activated the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2.

We present a new type of elementoboration reaction, the thioboration of terminal alkynes. This method enables highly controllable regio-/stereo-/chemoselective - and -thioboration on demand, affording synthetically versatile and densely functionalized vinyl boron/vinyl sulfide derivatives in a straightforward manner without the need for a transition-metal catalyst.

Purpose: The color of Papanicolaou-stained specimens is a crucial feature in cytology diagnosis. However, the quantification of color using digital images is challenging due to the variations in the staining process and characteristics of imaging equipment. The dye amount estimation of stained specimens is helpful for quantitatively interpreting the color based on a physical model.

Unlabelled: The phenotypes of chili pepper () fruit are sometimes characterized by having either smooth or wrinkled surfaces, both of which are commercially important. However, as the inheritance patterns and responsible loci have not yet been identified, it is difficult to control fruit surface traits in conventional chili pepper breeding. To obtain new insights into these aspects, we attempted to clarify the genetic regulation mechanisms responsible for the wrinkled surface of fruit from the Japanese chili pepper 'Shishito' (.

Eltrombopag is used with first-line immunosuppressive therapy for adult aplastic anemia, although its practical utility in childhood remains unclear. We retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of pediatric patients who received eltrombopag in Japan. Of the 27 eligible patients, 23 (85%) were previously treated, and 15 (56%) had severe or very-severe disease.

Fuel cells have become increasingly important in recent years because of their high energy efficiency and low environmental impact. However, key challenges remain in the widespread adoption of fuel-cell vehicles, including reducing Pt usage in catalysts and improving their durability. In this study, a high-performance Pt@carbon-dot-film core-shell catalyst was successfully synthesized using a nonequilibrium reaction field, , solution plasma (SP) process, by adjusting the electrolyte pH.
