Impact of Social Media Use on Segmentation of Dining out Behavior Among Younger Generations: A Case Study in South Korea.

Foods

December 2024

Center for Converging Humanities, Kyung Hee University, 26 Kyungheedae-ro, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul 02447, Republic of Korea.

This study examined how eating out behavior and variety-seeking tendency in food choice (VARSEEK) differ depending on social network service (SNS) use and recommended information utilization (SURU), focusing on Korean generation Z youth. To this end, participants were categorized as high, middle, or low based on their SURU score; eating out behavior, as well as VARSEEK, were then compared across the three groups. The results indicated that higher SURU scores were associated with a higher frequency of cooking, a higher frequency of eating out, a higher average cost of eating out per person, and a greater tendency to perceive oneself as gourmet.

In this study, a transient viscosity adjustment method using a coaxial nozzle was explored to fabricate nanofibers from non-spinnable -poly(hydroxyamide) (-PHA). Unlike conventional electrospinning methods that often require additives to induce fiber formation, this approach relies on a sheath-core configuration, introducing tetrahydrofuran (THF) to the sheath to temporarily adjust solution viscosity. The diffusion of THF into the core -PHA solution resulted in momentary solidification at the interface, promoting nanofiber formation without compromising polymer solubility.

Objectives: This study aimed to analyse the 2010-2018 cohort data of the National Health Insurance Service to examine the association between applying sealants in the first molars of children and their early dental impairment.

Methods: Based on the two-level mixed effect model (individual four teeth), the study participants were divided into two groups: those with sealants on all four first molars and those without sealants to determine the association between sealants and early impairment. We analysed teeth that had undergone extraction or canal filling to determine early impairment.

Father-child attachment on children's screen time: mediating role of ego resilience.

BMC Pediatr

October 2024

College of Nursing, ShinHan University, 30, Beolmadeul-ro 40beon-gil, Dongducheon-si, 11340, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea.

Background: Children spend a significant amount of time engaging in sedentary behaviors, defined as activities that do not increase energy expenditure significantly above resting levels, such as watching TV and playing PC/video games. Increased screen time is a significant public health concern because children are in a developmental stage where lifestyle behaviors predict various health outcomes in adulthood and beyond. This study explores the links between parent-child attachment, ego resilience, and children's screen time.

This study aimed to assess the impact of different resistance training (RT) loads and repetition on muscle damage, intramuscular anabolic signaling, and maximal muscle strength (MMS) in weightlifters. Eighteen male weightlifters were randomly assigned to 8 weeks of supervised RT regimes: high-load, low-repetition (HL), low-load, high-repetition (LH), and combination of HL and LH (COMBI). All groups exhibited a significant increase in skeletal muscle mass (SMM) and growth hormone levels, which ultimately contributed to improvement in MMS as indicated by 1-repetition maximum in the back squat and back muscle strength.

Carbon aerogel is a promising material in various applications, such as water treatment, insulators, catalysts, and sensors, due to its porosity, low density, conductivity, and good chemical stability. In this study, an inexpensive carbon aerogel was prepared through lyophilization and post-pyrolysis using waste paper. However, carbon aerogel, in the form of short belts, is randomly entangled without a crosslinking agent and has weak mechanical properties, thus limiting its applications, which would otherwise be various.
