Objective: We aimed to evaluate the feasibility of a one-day two-fraction Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) for brain metastases.

Cases And Methods: Ten cases with ten brain metastases (four cases of lung adenocarcinoma, one small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC), two renal cell carcinoma, one breast cancer, one esophageal carcinoma, and one bile duct carcinoma) were treated by one-day two-fraction (with an interval of more than six hours) GKRS under rigid skull frame fixation. Of the ten brain metastases, five lesions were in the frontal lobe, one in temporal, one in occipital, and three in the cerebellar hemisphere.

Objective: To analyze the clinical behavior of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) of the uterine cervix, we conducted a multicenter, retrospective study of 193 patients.

Methods: We evaluated the prognosis of NETs according to the new International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) staging system, compared the clinical response to different chemotherapy regimens, and compared different histological subtypes of NETS.

Results: Diagnoses of the subjects were atypical carcinoid tumor (ACT, n = 37), small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (SCNEC, n = 126), large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC, n = 22), and NET, not elsewhere classified (n = 8), according to central pathological review.

Patients with breast cancer desire to avoid chemotherapy-induced alopecia because it induces mental stress during treatment. Scalp cooling can suppress chemotherapy-induced alopecia without increasing the risk of scalp metastasis; however, in certain cases, alopecia cannot be prevented. Glasdegib, an oral Hedgehog pathway inhibitor, has been associated with significantly improved survival when combined with low-dose cytarabine in patients with untreated acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who were unsuitable for intensive chemotherapy, when compared with low-dose cytarabine alone. BRIGHT AML 1019 (NCT03416179) comprises two independently powered Phase III, randomized (1:1), double-blind global trials evaluating oral glasdegib 100 mg once daily or placebo plus one of two standard chemotherapy regimens in adults with untreated AML. The intensive trial combines glasdegib/placebo with cytarabine and daunorubicin (7 + 3), while the nonintensive trial combines glasdegib/placebo with azacitidine.

Background: Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a complication of liver cirrhosis and can result in neuropsychological and neuromuscular dysfunctions in patients. Rifaximin, an antibiotic, has been reported to decrease the occurrence of overt HE and also improve cognitive function in studies from Europe and the United States of America. There is not enough evidence of the relationship between the long-term use of rifaximin and its clinical effects in the Japanese.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy, safety, and tolerability profiles of pegylated liposomal doxorubicin and carboplatin (PLDC) with those of gemcitabine and carboplatin (GC) for the treatment of patients with platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian cancer.

Methods: Ovarian cancer patients with recurrence > 6 months after first-line platinum and taxane-based therapies were randomly assigned to PLDC [pegylated liposomal doxorubicin 30 mg/m plus carboplatin area under the curve (AUC) 5 mg/mL/min on day 1] every 4 weeks or GC (gemcitabine 1000 mg/m on days 1 and 8 plus carboplatin AUC 4 mg/mL/min on day 1) every 3 weeks for at least 6 cycles. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival, and overall response rate, overall survival, toxicity, and dose administration were secondary endpoints.

Background: There have been debates about the association between the administration of glucocorticoids and the development of acute pancreatitis, since many anecdotal cases of this adverse event were affected either by concomitant diseases (such as systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE) that may develop acute pancreatitis without glucocorticoid treatment or by co-administered drugs with high risk for the event. The aim of the present study was to explore whether disproportionally elevated signals of developing acute pancreatitis may be detected in patients receiving glucocorticoids as compared those receiving other drugs.

Methods: We retrieved spontaneously reported cases of acute pancreatitis and clinically related adverse events (target events) from the US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) using 18 preferred terms (PTs).
