In this article, we advance a new group testing model [Formula: see text] with multiple inhibitor sets and error-tolerant and propose decoding algorithms for it to identify all its positives by using [Formula: see text]-disjunct matrix. The decoding complexity for it is [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text]. Moreover, we extend this new group testing to threshold group testing and give the threshold group testing model [Formula: see text] with multiple inhibitor sets and error-tolerant.

Chinese Academy of Sciences Key Laboratory of Agricultural Water Resources/Hebei Province Key Laboratory of Water saving Agriculture, Center for Agricultural Resources Research, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shijiazhuang 050021, China.

In high water table level area, saline water irrigation in crucial drought periods has been confirmed to have a positive effect to increase crop yield while it may cause soil salt accumulation to have a potential negative effect on next season crop growth. It was supposed that eliminating or reducing this kind of negative effect could ensure a sustainable increase of crop yield under saline water irrigation. Field experiments were completed in a 2year period in Nandagang district in coastal area of Hebei Province.

In the present work, mesoporous NiCo2O4 hollow nanocubes are synthesized using a "coordinating etching & precipitating" (CEP) route. The hollow nanocubes are characterized using SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS and BET methods. The hollow nanocubes have a uniform morphology of 300-500 nm, a high surface area of 134.

Mid-Mesozoic kalligrammatid lacewings (Neuroptera) entered the fossil record 165 million years ago (Ma) and disappeared 45 Ma later. Extant papilionoid butterflies (Lepidoptera) probably originated 80-70 Ma, long after kalligrammatids became extinct. Although poor preservation of kalligrammatid fossils previously prevented their detailed morphological and ecological characterization, we examine new, well-preserved, kalligrammatid fossils from Middle Jurassic and Early Cretaceous sites in northeastern China to unravel a surprising array of similar morphological and ecological features in these two, unrelated clades.

College of Chemistry and Material Science, Hebei Normal University, Shijiazhuang 050016, PR China.

Er(3+)-singly doped and Er(3+)/Yb(3+)-codoped 50SiO2-(50-x)BaF2-xZnF2(SBZx) oxyfluoride glasses are prepared and the optical properties of Er(3+)-singly doped glasses are investigated by using the Judd-Ofelt theory. Bright green and red upconversion luminescence of Er(3+)/Yb(3+)-codoped glasses is obtained under 980nm excitation. Furthermore, factors affecting this phenomenon such as glass composition, doping concentration of Er(3+) and Yb(3+) ions, and pump power are discussed in details.

The Key Laboratory of Marine Hydrocarbon Resources and Environment Geology, Ministry of Land and Resources, China, 62 South Fuzhou Road, Qingdao 266071, PR China; Qingdao Institute of Marine Geology, Qingdao 266071, China, 62 South Fuzhou Road, Qingdao 266071, PR China.

A systematic study was conducted on the distribution characteristics of heavy metals and on associated influencing factors in sediments off the southern coast of the Shandong Peninsula, China, based on the results of a heavy metals analysis on 157 surface sediment samples from coastal waters of the study area and on 46 samples from surrounding rivers flowing into the sea. An environmental quality assessment of heavy metals was performed using the Nemerow index. The results show that the distribution characteristics of sediment heavy metals in coastal waters outside of Qingdao can be divided into three classes: (1) Class I - Cr, Cu and Zn, with high-value areas extending from the northeast to the southwest in a banded or tongue-like pattern; (2) Class II - As, Cd and Pb, with high-value areas mainly distributed off the southeastern coast of Mt.

Optical properties of Ho(3+)-doped SiO2-BaF2-ZnF2 glasses have been investigated on the basis of the Judd-Ofelt theory. Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters, radiative transition probabilities, fluorescence branching ratios and radiative lifetimes have been calculated for different glass compositions. Upconversion emissions were observed in Ho(3+)/Yb(3+)-codoped SiO2-BaF2-ZnF2 glasses under 980nm excitation.

An effective hybrid cuckoo search algorithm (CS) with improved shuffled frog-leaping algorithm (ISFLA) is put forward for solving 0-1 knapsack problem. First of all, with the framework of SFLA, an improved frog-leap operator is designed with the effect of the global optimal information on the frog leaping and information exchange between frog individuals combined with genetic mutation with a small probability. Subsequently, in order to improve the convergence speed and enhance the exploitation ability, a novel CS model is proposed with considering the specific advantages of Lévy flights and frog-leap operator.

Graphs and matroids weighted in a bounded incline algebra.

ScientificWorldJournal

School of Science, Hebei University of Science and Technology, Shijiazhuang 050018, China.

Firstly, for a graph weighted in a bounded incline algebra (or called a dioid), a longest path problem (LPP, for short) is presented, which can be considered the uniform approach to the famous shortest path problem, the widest path problem, and the most reliable path problem. The solutions for LPP and related algorithms are given. Secondly, for a matroid weighted in a linear matroid, the maximum independent set problem is studied.

The present study investigated the relationship between N-acyl-homoserine lactone (AHL)-based quorum sensing (QS) and the physico-chemical properties of aerobic granules. Stable mature granules were observed in SBR2 and SBR3 with average diameters of 0.96, and 1.

In this study, porcine kidney acylase, as N-acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs)-degradation enzyme, was employed for the first time to directly investigate the role of AHLs in the structure stability of aerobic granules. Results clearly showed that inactivation of AHLs by AHLs-acylase could weaken the stability of aerobic granule. In the presence of AHLs-acylase, AHLs were degraded by hydrolyzing the amide linkage, which resulted in aerobic granular attachment potential and activity of AHLs-based quorum sensing significantly reduced.

Cuckoo search (CS) is a new robust swarm intelligence method that is based on the brood parasitism of some cuckoo species. In this paper, an improved hybrid encoding cuckoo search algorithm (ICS) with greedy strategy is put forward for solving 0-1 knapsack problems. First of all, for solving binary optimization problem with ICS, based on the idea of individual hybrid encoding, the cuckoo search over a continuous space is transformed into the synchronous evolution search over discrete space.

Background: The early history of the Lepidoptera is poorly known, a feature attributable to an inadequate preservational potential and an exceptionally low occurrence of moth fossils in relevant mid-Mesozoic deposits. In this study, we examine a particularly rich assemblage of morphologically basal moths that contribute significantly toward the understanding of early lepidopteran biodiversity.

Methodology/principal Findings: Our documentation of early fossil moths involved light- and scanning electron microscopic examination of specimens, supported by various illumination and specimen contrast techniques.

A group test gives a positive (negative) outcome if it contains at least u (at most l) positive items, and an arbitrary outcome if the number of positive items is between thresholds l and u. This problem introduced by Damaschke is called threshold group testing. It is a generalization of classical group testing.

High-order virial coefficients and equation of state for hard sphere and hard disk systems.

Phys Chem Chem Phys

November 2009

College of Resources, Shijiazhuang University of Economics, Shijiazhuang 050031, Hebei, P. R. China.

A very simple and accurate approach is proposed to predict the high-order virial coefficients of hard spheres and hard disks. In the approach, the nth virial coefficient B(n) is expressed as the sum of n(D-1) and a remainder, where D is the spatial dimension of the system. When n > or = 3, the remainders of the virials can be accurately expressed with Padé-type functions of n.
