Aims: To determine the long-term outcomes of ocular adnexal lesions in immunoglobulin G4-related ophthalmic disease (IgG4-ROD).

Methods: This retrospective, non-randomised exploratory study included 82 patients with ocular adnexal lesions. We evaluated the long-term outcomes in 71 patients during the median follow-up period of 30 months, who underwent either watchful waiting (n=20; range 12-90 months) or systemic corticosteroid treatment, delivered according to consensus guidelines (n=51; range 9- 115 months).

Chylothorax secondary to a pleuroperitoneal communication and chylous ascites after pancreatic resection.

To the best of our knowledge, there have been no previous reports of chylothorax developing after pancreatectomy, although chylous ascites can occur. In patients with a pleuroperitoneal communication, ascitic fluid can flow into the thoracic cavity through a small hole in the diaphragm. A 70-year-old woman underwent total pancreatectomy and was referred to our department for treatment of right chylothorax after removal of her abdominal drainage tubes.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop a Health Literacy Scale for women of reproductive age by creating an original scale based on a concept analysis of health literacy.

Methods: A 30-item scale was created through an examination of their content validity and face validity based on attributes derived from concept analysis conducted in previous research. The main survey consisted of a self-administered questionnaire distributed to 1,030 female workers between the ages of 20 and 39 residing in the Kinki and Tokai regions of Japan.

In this case report, the anaesthetic management for a removal of phaeochromocytoma undertaken immediately following Caesarean section is described. A 32-year-old female patients was given epidural anaesthesia for Caesarean section, and thereafter, general anaesthesia for a resection of phaeochromocytoma. During surgery, phentolamine, nitroglycerine and prostaglandin E1 were electively administered to decrease blood pressure and heart rate.

Increased alcohol consumption causes hypertension and leads to higher death rates by hemorrhagic strokes. About half of the Japanese population have inactive low Km aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH2), which metabolizes acetaldehyde to acetic acid at very low concentrations, leading to severe pharmacological effects of aldehyde when drinking alcohol. We determined persons with inactive ALDH2 using a ethanol patch test.
