Paragangliomas (PGLs) are rare neuroendocrine tumors. Sometimes, these tumors secrete excessive catecholamines, which results in the manifestations of various signs and symptoms, usually with a triad of hypertension, tachycardia, and headache. We report the case of a 42-year-old woman presenting with uncontrolled hypertension, right facial palsy, vomiting, and disturbed gait.

The influence of operation theatre environment on patients' perceptions during awake procedures: a cross-sectional study.

Objective: To determine the perceptions of patients regarding operation theatre conversation and environment during an awake procedure.

Methods: The descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted from February to August 2017 in postoperative wards of Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and comprised women undergoing gynaecological or obstetric procedures under regional anaesthesia. Closedended questionnaires were distributed via nonprobability convenient sampling.

Frequency of different lifestyle modification measures among patients with GERD based on monthly income.

A cross-sectional study was carried out at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad over a period of 6 months, to determine the frequency and compare the different lifestyle modifications among patients with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) of different monthly income groups. Two hundred patients of GERD were enrolled in the study and divided into two groups based on monthly income less than and more than Rs. 30,000 respectively.

A Quantitative Study of Empathy in Pakistani Medical Students: A Multicentered Approach.

Objective: To examine the empathy level of undergraduate medical students in Pakistan. Three hypotheses are developed based on the literature review. (1) Female medical students have a higher level of empathy than do male students.

Synergism between collagen-adenosine diphosphate and collagen-epinephrine in platelets' aggregation: different dose response relationships.

Objectives: To evaluate the possible synergistic interaction of collagen-adenosine diphosphate and collagen-epinephrine in aggregation of human platelets.

Methods: An experimental study was carried out at Armed Forces Instiute of Pathology, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, from June 2001 to December 2002. The platelet aggregation was determined by means of turbidometric method, which measures changes in optical density of platelet suspension.
