Background: Lower maternal insulin sensitivity during pregnancy is associated with greater fetal adiposity. Physical activity can improve insulin sensitivity, but it is not known if physical behaviours influence the known association of maternal insulin sensitivity with offspring adiposity. This study aimed to investigate the moderating impact of physical behaviours on this association.

Introduction: Children with problematic sexual behaviors (PSBs) can benefit, along with their parents or caregivers, from specialized therapeutic services to limit the manifestation of these behaviors. However, for some families, mobilization for therapy represents a significant challenge since a considerable proportion do not complete the therapy intended for them. The present study aims to identify the factors associated with therapy completion, thus allowing a deeper understanding of how to support children and more broadly families to complete their therapeutic process.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis is a progressive joint disease that causes pain and disability, impairing physical function. Moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) is recommended for knee osteoarthritis, while stationary time, independent of activity, may negatively impact health outcomes. We hypothesised that individuals with the highest MVPA and lowest stationary time would have better long-term function compared to those with the lowest MVPA and highest stationary time, as well as those with high levels of both MVPA and stationary time.

Article Synopsis
  • PEG consolidation treatment is a common method for preserving wooden cultural artifacts, but its underlying mechanisms are not fully understood, particularly in relation to interactions with cellulose.
  • A combination of molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations, alongside experimental analysis, revealed that PEG200 effectively reduces moisture absorption and swelling in wood, though high concentrations can lead to increased swelling at high humidity.
  • The study identifies two primary mechanisms for PEG's consolidation effect: it fills wood porosities to reduce moisture uptake and limits excessive swelling, providing insights for developing improved consolidant materials.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension affects females more frequently than males, and there are known sex-related differences in the lungs. However, normal sex-related differences in pulmonary vascular structure remain incompletely described. We aimed to contrast computed tomography-derived pulmonary vascular volume and its distribution within the lungs of healthy adult females and males.

Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is the primary hereditary cause of intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder. It is characterized by exacerbated neuronal excitability, and its correction is considered an objective measure of treatment response in animal models, a marker albeit rarely used in clinical trials. Here, we used an extensive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) battery to assess the neurophysiological effects of a therapy combining two disease-modifying drugs, lovastatin (40 mg) and minocycline (100 mg), administered alone for 8 weeks and in combination for 12 weeks, in 19 patients (mean age of 23.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated how the COVID-19 pandemic affected pregnancy outcomes in 443,101 patients who either conceived naturally or through assisted reproductive technology in Quebec, Canada, between December 2015 and July 2021.
  • It found that while assisted reproductive technology was linked to higher risks of preeclampsia, preterm birth, and low birth weight during the pandemic, similar risks were already present before the pandemic, indicating that COVID-19 itself may not have altered these outcomes significantly.
  • Overall, the research suggests that the pandemic did not have a major adverse effect on pregnancy outcomes for women using assisted reproductive technology, providing reassurance to patients concerned about fertility during this time.
