Althoughchronic hepatitis C (CHC) therapies based on direct-acting antiviral (DAA) agents safely improved treatment effectiveness, some cases do not obtain sustained virological response (SVR) and, thus, evaluating factors that may be related to treatment failure is very important. We aimed to evaluate the association of baseline serum collagen IV with DAA treatment failure in Egyptian patients with CHC. A total of 175 CHC patients (100 responders and 75non-responders tosofosbuvir/daclatasvir) were included.

Background: COVID-19 is an abnormal host response to the SARS-CoV-2 infection, which is associated with endothelial dysfunction and multi-organ failure. Atorvastatin has been proposed to reduce COVID-19 severity and mortality in chronic and de-novo users.
Methods: This randomized double-blind trial included 220 COVID-19 patients admitted to Mansoura University's isolation hospital in Egypt.

Background And Aim: Daugirdas suggested a 2-pool phosphate kinetic model based on his previously established urea kinetic model. The current study aims to assess the level of agreement between the modeled daily ingested phosphorus (DIP) values and the routine method of dietary recall calculations in hemodialysis patients.
Method: The study was conducted on 100 hemodialysis patients; 50 were anuric, and the others had residual kidney function (RKF).

Background: Although mass vaccination has reduced the severity of COVID-19, mortality is still high among hospitalized patients. Being a sepsis-like disease, an anti-inflammatory drug as atorvastatin would reduce mortality and severity in COVID-19.
Methods: We designed a randomized clinical trial that recruited 220 COVID-19 patients admitted in the COVID-19 isolation hospital at Mansoura University, Egypt.

Introduction: Diabetic foot infection (DFI) is one of the common diabetic complications. Pathogens causing DFI and their antibiotic susceptibility vary with location. Therefore, empirical antibiotic therapy should be based on the pathogens that are most likely to be present.

Avian influenza (AI) has become a disease of great importance for human and animal health. Beside adverse side effects, there is resistance mutation for about all the conventional drugs that target viral proteins. This study aimed to evaluate antiviral activity of silver nanoparticles combined with epigallocatechingallate (EGCG-AgNPs) and co-administered with zinc sulphate (Zn+2) as alternative treatment strategy to control AI H9N2.
