Jejunogastric Intussusception: A Rare Case Report Study.

Unlabelled: Jejunogastric intussusception (JGI) is a rare, potentially fatal complication of gastrojejunostomy following any gastric resection or gastric bypass surgery. Very less no of cases have been reported to date in the literature, with a very low incidence of <0.1%.

Validation of Urdu Version of the Low Anterior Resection Syndrome (LARS) Score.

Unlabelled: Patients subjected to low anterior resection for rectal cancers experience a constellation of symptoms of disordered bowel function which leads to a detriment in the quality of life. The LAR syndrome (LARS) score is a self-administered questionnaire to identify and assess disordered bowel function after resective surgery. The objective of this study was to validate the Urdu version of the LARS score.

Rapid detection of drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis by Modified MODS assay suitable for resource-poor settings.

Background: Cross contamination and biosafety are concerns with the microscopic observation drug susceptibility assay. To address these issues, we modified the MODS technique in the current study.

Methodology/principal Findings: Two hundred and seventy-five samples were processed on LJ media and drug susceptibility was performed by the Indirect agar proportion method.

Combination therapy of nitazoxanide with oseltamivir compared with oseltamivir in hospitalized patients with seasonal influenza.

Antiviral combinations have been proposed as treatment for influenza in order to increase the antiviral activity by action at different sites of action as well as obviate the emergence of drug resistance to the commonly used antiviral agents like oseltamivir. Nitazoxanide has been found to exhibit anti-influenza viral activity with clinical benefit in a previous study. We recruited 242 cases of SARI, among whon 67 were confirmed to have influenza viral infection.

Unraveling Down Syndrome: From Genetic Anomaly to Artificial Intelligence-Enhanced Diagnosis.

Down syndrome arises from chromosomal non-disjunction during gametogenesis, resulting in an additional chromosome. This anomaly presents with intellectual impairment, growth limitations, and distinct facial features. Positive correlation exists between maternal age, particularly in advanced cases, and the global annual incidence is over 200,000 cases.

Expert group recommendation on inhaled mucoactive drugs in pediatric respiratory diseases: an Indian perspective.

Background: Currently, there are no guidelines or consensus statements about the usage of inhaled mucoactive drugs in pediatric respiratory disease conditions from an Indian perspective.

Objective: To develop a practical consensus document to help pediatricians in clinical decision-making when choosing an appropriate mucoactive drug for the management of specific respiratory disease conditions.

Methods: A committee of nine experts with significant experience in pediatric respiratory disease conditions and a microbiological expert constituted the panel.

Sella Turcica Size in Women with Sheehan Syndrome-A Case-Control Study.

Introduction: Sheehan syndrome is a common cause of hypopituitarism in developing countries. Among risk factors, in addition to post-partum haemorrhage, a smaller sellar volume is also believed to predispose to pituitary necrosis. Some earlier studies have reported smaller sellar volume in these patients but involved a small number of patients and lacked matched controls.

Role of a Plastic Surgeon in the Management of Local Manifestations of Snakebite in a Tertiary Care Hospital: A Prospective Single-Center Case Series.

Background Supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary communication (TAPVC) constitutes a rare congenital cardiac anomaly. Most babies with supracardiac TAPVC are diagnosed in infancy and undergo complete surgical repair during infancy. Delayed presentation of supracardiac TAPVC is rare, and the surgical outcomes are not well known.

Thiamine deficiency-related neuropathy: A reversible entity from an endemic area.

Background And Purpose: Despite thiamine deficiency being a lesser-known entity in modern times, beriberi in various forms, including thiamine deficiency-related neuropathy, remains endemic in Kashmir due to the consumption of polished rice as a staple food. This observational study investigates cases of peripheral neuropathy of unknown etiology and their potential responsiveness to thiamine administration.

Methods: This prospective study enrolled adult patients presenting to the emergency department with weakness consistent with thiamine deficiency-related neuropathy and conducted a therapeutic challenge with thiamine on 41 patients.

ABO and Rhesus blood group markers as predictors in colorectal cancer: A prospective observational study.

Numerous research studies have investigated the relationship between ABO and Rhesus (Rh) blood groups and the risk of various cancers, yielding diverse findings. While these blood groups have been established as prognostic factors in some cancers, their relevance to colorectal cancer (CRC) remains uncertain. This research aims to determine the link between CRC and the ABO and Rh blood groups and explore any potential implications for disease survival.

Isolated small airways obstruction predicts future chronic airflow obstruction: a multinational longitudinal study.

Background: Chronic airflow obstruction is a key characteristic of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We investigated whether isolated small airways obstruction is associated with chronic airflow obstruction later in life.

Methods: We used longitudinal data from 3957 participants of the multinational Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease study.

VDR downregulation and promoter hypermethylation as one of the causes for triggering type 2 diabetes mellitus: Clinical and molecular studies.

Background: Our present study was to investigate the methylation and Gene expression of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene in the causing T2DM and to determine the inflammatory biomarkers in exaggerating T2DM in Kashmiri population.

Methods: In this study, T2DM cases ( = 100) and controls ( = 100) of Kashmiri population were designed. Blood samples were taken from both groups, and serum vitamin D levels, inflammatory biomarkers (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10, CRP, Leptin and adiponectin) were estimated by ELISA.

Effect of Comorbidity-free Neonatal Hypoglycemia on Neurodevelopment at 18 Months of Age: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Objective: To study the impact of neonatal hypoglycemia on neurodevelopment and neuro-developmental clusters at 18 months of age.

Methods: This prospective cohort study was conducted at the pediatric and neonatal wards of a tertiary care hospital. Study subjects were neonates with hypoglycemia (blood sugar <47 mg/dL at presentation).

Presence of fimH and iss type 1, 2 and 3 genes in uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolates recovered from an apex medical institute in North India.

Purpose: To detect the presence of fimH and iss type 1, 2 and 3 genes in uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) isolates recovered from patients coming to the out patient department (OPD) of our hospital.

Methods: E. coli isolates recovered from patients who had symptoms of urinary tract infection (UTI) were processed for the presence of fimH and iss genes.

Seroprevalence of disease: A population-based survey from kashmir valley, North India.

Background: Limited studies have been done regarding the prevalence of Rickettsial diseases in India and as far as UT of Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, only a few hospital-based studies are available.

Objectives: The present study was therefore planned to find the seroprevalence of Rickettsial diseases in Kashmir Valley.

Materials And Methods: A multistage sampling procedure was used for the collection of samples from 10 districts of Kashmir Valley and a total of 1740 samples were collected.
