There are several factors that can directly or indirectly influence wool quality and quantity in sheep, the main elements being genetic and environmental factors. An experiment was conducted to assess the effect of different management/housing interventions during winter on wool quality and yield in Corriedale ewes. Forty healthy pregnant ewes were selected and divided into four groups (G, G, G, G) based on their body weight and parity.

Objective: Ginger ( Roscoe) is considered to be one of the most commonly consumed dietary condiments of the world. The present study was designed to explicate the protective role of zingerone; an active ingredient of ginger in complete Freund's adjuvant (FCA)-immunized arthritic rats.
Methods: 24 Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups with 6 rats each.

Cellulose nanofibers, which are troublesome to spin into fibers, can be easily fabricated by post-regeneration of its acetate-derived threads. Cellulose is a natural polymer; it enjoys better biocompatibility, cellular mimicking, and hydrophilic properties than its proportionate analog. Herein, we regenerated acetate-free nanofibers by alkaline de-acetylation of as-spun nanofibers.

Growth hormones (GH) have diverse functions like growth promotion, metabolism, appetite, reproduction and social behavior in vertebrates, which is mediated through the growth hormone receptor (GHR). This work was aimed to analyze structural features, homology modeling and molecular docking of GHR protein. A physicochemical characteristic, like molecular weight was 67.

This study investigated physicochemical, glycemic index, pasting and microstructural properties of low glycemic index rice flour (LGIRF) stored in two different packaging materials (low density polyethylene-LDPE and metalized polyester-Met-PE) under accelerated storage conditions (38 ± 2 °C and 90-92% RH) for three months. The different properties were evaluated after every one month. Protein, fat, fibre and carbohydrate content decreased slightly while, water activity, moisture and ash of both control and LGIRF increased significantly with storage (P < 0.

The objective of study was to select and characterize different food ingredients of plant origin and to optimize different levels of their formulations to develop nutrient bars; stable on storage and specific to women at risk of osteoporosis. After intensive literature review, ingredients selected include-cereal-mix of brown rice, oats and corn flakes, defatted soy flour, dried fruit mix of figs, dates and golden raisins, flaxseeds, two herbs namely dandelion leaves () and basil (), honey and rice bran oil. Out of the 6 trials, total of 24 formulations were prepared to develop the bars.

Background: Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (Salmonella Typhimurium) is a zoonotic pathogen responsible for severe intestinal pathology in young chickens. Natural resistance-associated macrophage protein (NRAMP) family has been shown to be associated with resistance to intracellular pathogens, including Salmonella Typhimurium. The role of NRAMP proteins in macrophage defence against microbial infection has been ascribed to changes in the metal-ion concentrations inside the bacteria-containing phagosomes.

The microRNAs (miRNAs) are small (20-24 nt) sized, non-coding, single stranded riboregulator RNAs abundant in higher organisms. Recent findings have established that plants assign miRNAs as critical post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression in sequence-specific manner to respond to numerous abiotic stresses they face during their growth cycle. These small RNAs regulate gene expression via translational inhibition.

Despite numerous studies on the taxonomy of a highly complex group of schizothoracine (snow trouts), with over five recognized species from Kashmir, India (Schizothorax niger, Schizothorax esocinus, Schizothorax plagiostomus, Schizothorax curvifrons and Schizothorax labiatus) based on traditional morphological data, the relationships between these species is poorly understood and the taxonomic validity is still under debate. To resolve the evolutionary relationships among these species, we sequenced mitochondrial fragments, including 16Sr RNA, Cytb and the D-loop. Separate analyses of 16S and Cytb showed intermixing of the species and 16S was found more conserved than Cytb.

Schizothoracine fish commonly called snow trouts inhibit the entire network of snow and spring fed cool waters of Kashmir, India. Over 10 species reported earlier, only five species have been found, these include Schizothorax niger, Schizothorax esocinus, Schizothorax plagiostomus, Schizothorax curvifrons and Schizothorax labiatus. The relationship between these species is contradicting.

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of organic acids on the performance, intestinal histomorphology, and blood biochemistry of broiler chicken. The birds in the control (T(1)) group were fed the basal diet whereas in other treatment groups basal diet was supplemented with 2% butyric acid (T(2)), 3% butyric acid (T(4)), 2% fumaric acid (T(4)), 3% fumaric acid (T(5)), 2% lactic acid (T(6)), and 3% lactic acid (T(7)). Broiler chicken fed diets supplemented with organic acids had significantly (P < .

Effect of Foot and Mouth disease (FMD) vaccination was studied on semen quality parameters of 19 Karan Fries (KF) and eight Murrah (MU) breeding bulls during the period 2002 to 2004 at Artificial Breeding Complex, NDRI, Karnal. A total of non-vaccinated 155 KF and 72 MU bulls' ejaculates were taken as control, while 169 KF and 51 MU bulls' ejaculates, collected after vaccination, were used to study the effect of vaccination stress. The results showed that FMD vaccination had no significant (P > 0.
