Purpose: This study for the first time delves into the intricate relationship between scientific literacy and the acceptance of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) by employing a multigroup path analysis based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. We adopted Scientific Epistemology Belief (SEB) as an indicator for measuring scientific literacy due to its comprehensive reflection of individuals' understanding of scientific knowledge and knowing. In assessing TCM acceptance, we focused on Chinese parents' receptivity towards pediatric TCM, as it offers a more genuine representation of actual inclinations.

Background: Existing studies have found that circular RNAs (circRNAs) act as sponges for micro RNAs (miRNAs) to control downstream genes. However, the specific functionalities and mechanisms of circRNAs in human clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) have yet to be thoroughly investigated.
Methods: Patient cohorts from online databases were used to screen candidate circRNAs, while another cohort from our hospital was obtained for validation.

Fatigue, an increasingly acknowledged symptom in various chronic diseases, has garnered heightened attention, during the medical era of bio-psycho-social model. Its persistence not only significantly compromises an individual's quality of life but also correlates with chronic organ damage. Surprisingly, the intricate relationship between fatigue and female reproductive health, specifically infertility, remains largely unexplored.

In women who are getting older, the quantity and quality of their follicles or oocytes and decline. This is characterized by decreased ovarian reserve function (DOR), fewer remaining oocytes, and lower quality oocytes. As more women choose to delay childbirth, the decline in fertility associated with age has become a significant concern for modern women.

Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) represent a heterogeneous cell population distributed throughout various tissues, demonstrating remarkable adaptability to microenvironmental cues and holding immense promise for disease treatment. However, the inherent diversity within MSCs often leads to variability in therapeutic outcomes, posing challenges for clinical applications. To address this heterogeneity, purification of MSC subpopulations through marker-based isolation has emerged as a promising approach to ensure consistent therapeutic efficacy.

Hypertensive cerebrovascular remodeling involves the enlargement of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), which activates volume-regulated Cl channels (VRCCs). The leucine-rich repeat-containing family 8 A (LRRC8A) has been shown to be the molecular identity of VRCCs. However, its role in vascular remodeling during hypertension is unclear.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine-metabolic disorder characterized by oligo-anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and polycystic ovaries, with hyperandrogenism being the most prominent feature of PCOS patients. However, whether excessive androgens also exist in the ovarian microenvironment of patients with PCOS, and their modulatory role on ovarian immune homeostasis and ovarian function, is not clear.
Methods: Follicular fluid samples from patients participating in their first in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) treatment were collected.

CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF), a ubiquitously expressed and highly conserved protein, is known to play a critical role in chromatin structure. Post-translational modifications (PTMs) diversify the functions of protein to regulate numerous cellular processes. However, the effects of PTMs on the genome-wide binding of CTCF and the organization of three-dimensional (3D) chromatin structure have not been fully understood.

Background: Previously, we have demonstrated that the batch variations of human platelet lysate (conventional MSC expansion medium) induce MSC heterogeneity and therapeutic inconsistency. On the other hand, the MSCs expanded with chemical defined medium have improved therapeutic consistency.
Methods: In the current study, we studied the MSC subpopulation composition and variation in different types and batches of MSC expansion medium with scRNA-seq analysis.

The immune responses during the initiation and invasion stages of human lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) development are largely unknown. Here, we generated a single-cell RNA sequencing map to decipher the immune dynamics during human LUAD development. We found that T follicular helper (Tfh)-like cells, germinal center B cells, and dysfunctional CD8 T cells increase during tumor initiation/invasion and form a tertiary lymphoid structure (TLS) inside the tumor.

Study Question: Is there a causal relationship between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) and miscarriage?
Summary Answer: In this study, little evidence of a causal relationship was found between low serum 25OHD concentration or vitamin D deficiency and the risk of miscarriages.
What Is Known Already: Associations between low vitamin D levels and increased risk of miscarriage have been reported, but causality is unclear.
Study Design Size Duration: The latest and largest genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for serum 25OHD concentration (n = 417 580), vitamin D deficiency (426 cases and 354 812 controls), miscarriage (16 906 cases and 149 622 controls), and the number of miscarriages (n = 78 700) were used to explore the causal association between serum vitamin D levels and miscarriage by two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis.

Aim: To analyze the associations between infertility or dietary selenium intake and depressive symptoms as well as the role of selenium intake on the association between infertility and depressive symptoms in women.
Methods: This study retrieved the data of 4949 women from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database. Univariable and multivariable weighted logistic regression analyses were applied to assess the associations of selenium intake or infertility with the risk of depressive symptoms as well as the regulation of selenium intake on the risk of depressive symptoms related to infertility.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are small membrane-bound particles secreted by various cell types that play a critical role in intercellular communication by packaging and delivering biomolecules. In recent years, EVs have emerged as essential messengers in mediating physiological and pathological processes in tumor biology. The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a pivotal role in tumor generation, progression, and metastasis.

Background: Macrophages phenotypic deviation and immune imbalance play vital roles in pregnancy-associated diseases such as spontaneous miscarriage. Trophoblasts regulate phenotypic changes in macrophages, however, their underlying mechanism during pregnancy remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to elucidate the potential function of trophoblast-derived miRNAs (miR-410-5p) in macrophage polarization during pregnancy.

Background: Although both preclinical and clinical studies have shown the great application potential of MSCs (mesenchymal stem/stromal cells) in treating many kinds of diseases, therapeutic inconsistency resulting from cell heterogeneity is the major stumbling block to their clinical applications. Cell population diversity and batch variation in the cell expansion medium are two major inducers of MSC heterogeneity.
Methods: Cell population diversity was investigated through single-cell RNA sequencing analysis of human MSCs derived from the umbilical cord and expanded with fully chemically defined medium in the current study.

A novel circRNA named circSQSTM1 (hsa_circRNA_075320) was screened out in atorvastatin (ATV) stimulated endothelial cells (ECs) by our group. Considering the anti-atherosclerotic function of ATV, we hypothesized the circSQSTM1 could protect ECs functions in AS progression. The effects of circSQSTM1 on ECs inflammation, oxidative stress and autophagy were measured by qRT-PCR, Western blotting, monocyte-endothelial adhesion assay, dichloro-dihydro-fluorescein diacetate and mCherry-GFP-LC3 labeling.
