Objective: To evaluate the effects of exercise therapy on patients with poststroke cognitive impairment and compare the differences in the effect of this method when compared with conventional measures, providing evidence for a more standardized and effective clinical application of exercise therapy.
Methods: A search was conducted using 7 electronic databases, including PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, CENTRAL, CNKI, Wanfang, SinoMed, and clinical trials registry platforms for randomized controlled trials concerning exercise therapy on patients with poststroke cognitive impairment. Two researchers independently screened the literature, evaluated the quality, and extracted information.

Objective: Some older adults with loneliness might have transient loneliness, followed by full remission, while others might have persistent loneliness. Such different courses might differ in predicting the risk of dementia, but most previous studies assessed short-term loneliness at a single time point, ignoring the long-term changes of loneliness. This study aimed to explore the association between 8-year trajectories of late-life loneliness and incident dementia.

Introduction: Emerging evidence showed that adipocytes are important regulators in controlling insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). So far, compounds isolated from natural plants have been widely studied for their roles in alleviating T2DM-associated complications. This work evaluated the actions of astragaloside IV (AS-IV) on insulin resistance and inflammatory biomarker expression in adipocytes and explored the potential mechanisms.

Medical metal implants are required to have excellent mechanical properties and high biocompatibility to handle the complex human environment, which is a challenge that has always existed for traditional medical metal materials. Compared to traditional medical alloys, high entropy alloys (HEAs) have a higher design freedom to allow them to carry more medical abilities to suit the human service environment, such as low elastic modulus, high biocompatible elements, potential shape memory capability. In recent years, many studies have pointed out that bio-HEAs, as an emerging medical alloy, has reached or even surpassed traditional medical alloys in various medical properties.

This study aims to compare the antimicrobial activity of omadacycline with tigecycline against clinical isolates of Enterococcus faecium and investigate their resistance mechanisms. Non-duplicate clinical E. faecium isolates (n = 224) were collected and the minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of omadacycline and tigecycline were determined by broth microdilution method.

The pore strategy is one of the important factors affecting the biomedical porous scaffold at the same porosity. In this work, porous scaffolds were designed based on the triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structure under the same porosity and different pore strategies (pore size and size continuous gradient distribution) and were successfully prepared using a novel NiTiNb alloy and selective laser melting (SLM) technology. After that, the effects of the pore strategies on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and permeability of porous scaffolds were systematically investigated.

Bioprinting is an emerging multidisciplinary technology for organ manufacturing, tissue repair, and drug screening. The manufacture of organs in a layer-by-layer manner is a characteristic of bioprinting technology, which can also determine the accuracy of constructs confined by the printing resolution. The lack of sufficient resolution will result in defect generation during the printing process and the inability to complete the manufacture of complex organs.

Tumor necrosis factor- is a common cytokine that increases in inflammatory processes, slows the differentiation of bone formation, and induces osteodystrophy in the long-term inflammatory microenvironment. Our previous study confirmed that the Elongation protein 2 (ELP2) plays a significant role in osteogenesis and osteogenic differentiation, which is considered a drug discovery target in diseases related to bone formation and differentiation. In this study, we applied an in silico virtual screening method to select molecules that bind to the ELP2 protein from a chemical drug molecule library and obtained 95 candidates.

Recent investigations revealed the relationship between (Fn) infection and colorectal cancer (CRC). However, how the host genes changes contribute to CRC in response to Fn infection remains largely unknown. In the present study, we aimed to comprehensively analyze microarray data obtained from a Caco-2 infection cell model using integrated bioinformatics analysis and further identify and validate potential candidate genes in Fn-infected Caco-2 cells and CRC specimens.

This paper explores the statistical distribution characteristics of coating film thickness, so as to present a new method for determining coating endpoint based on 3σ criterion and logic regression. Firstly, the spectrum and thickness of 4 batch samples were collected. Secondly, the spectral range of normal products was obtained by 3σ criterion, with the spectral feature NI as the number of test spectrum in the above range.

Retinal prostheses can restore the basic visual function of patients with retinal degeneration, which relies on effective electrical stimulation to evoke the physiological activities of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). Current electrical stimulation strategies have defects such as unstable effects and insufficient stimulation positions, therefore, it is crucial to determine the optimal pulse parameters for precise and safe electrical stimulation. Biphasic voltages (cathode-first) with a pulse width of 25 ms and different amplitudes were used to ex vivo stimulate RGCs of three wild-type (WT) mice using a commercial microelectrode array (MEA) recording system.

Introduction: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), as the activated fibroblasts in tumor stroma, are important modifiers of tumor progression. TGFβ1 has been the mostly accepted factor to fuel normal fibroblasts transformation into CAFs. Ca/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) is thought to play an important role in fibroblasts activation induced by TGFβ1.

Previous studies have revealed a diagnostic role of pathogen-specific IgA in respiratory infections. However, co-detection of serum specific IgA for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and common respiratory pathogens remains largely unexplored. This study utilizes a protein microarray technology for simultaneous and quantitative measurements of specific IgAs for eight different respiratory pathogens including adenovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, influenza virus type A, influenza virus type B, parainfluenza virus, mycoplasma pneumoniae, chlamydia pneumoniae, and SARS-CoV-2 in serum sample of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
