Neurologists often face challenges in identifying epileptic activities within multichannel EEG recordings, requiring extensive hours of analysis. Computer-aided diagnosis systems have been proposed to reduce manual inspection of EEG signals by neurologists. However, direct analysis of EEG signals is difficult due to their complex and dynamic nature, with variation across multiple patients.

Isolated gastric Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) occurs extremely rarely in adults. We characterized the clinicopathological and molecular genetics of this rare entity. We retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathologic and prognostic features of 3 patients with isolated gastric LCH during the past 10 years, with a review of an additional 20 patients from the literature.

Raman spectroscopy enables label-free clinical diagnosis in a single step. However, identifying an individual carrying a specific disease from people with a multi-disease background is challenging. To address this, we developed a Raman spectral implicit feature augmentation with a Raman Intersection, Union, and Subtraction augmentation strategy (RIUS).

Background: Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is a common gynecological issue during reproductive years. Researches on how dietary diversity and patterns influence AUB in Chinese university students are limited, with some studies not clearly defining irregular menstruation. This research investigated the incidence of AUB according to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics criteria and sought to identify preventative factors via online questionnaires.

Background: Cells in the body reside in a dynamic microenvironment subjected to various physical stimuli, where mechanical stimulation plays a crucial role in regulating cellular physiological behaviors and functions.
Aim Of Review: Investigating the mechanisms and interactions of mechanical transmission is essential for understanding the physiological and functional interplay between cells and physical stimuli. Therefore, establishing an in vitro biomechanical stimulation cell culture system holds significant importance for research related to cellular biomechanics.

Background: Human platelet lysate (hPL) has emerged as a promising serum substitute to enhance the self-renewal and multipotency of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Despite its potential, the specific biological mechanisms by which hPL influences MSC phenotypes remain inadequately understood.
Methods: We investigated the biological signaling activated by hPL in two common types of human MSCs: bone marrow-derived MSCs (BMSCs) and adipose-derived MSCs (ASCs).

A 57-year-old man presented with a tibial shaft fracture treated with tibial intramedullary nail fixation and plate and screw fixation for fibular fracture. Two weeks postoperatively, the patient developed skin sloughing with exposed bone and metal at the fracture site. Three weeks postoperatively, a physical examination revealed swelling of the left lateral malleolus and lower leg, a skin defect of approximately 3 × 5 cm at the lower third of the left tibia with an exposed fracture site and hardware in between the fracture fragments.

Introduction: Castleman's disease (CD) represents a rare polyclonal lymphoproliferative disorder characterized by atypical lymph node hyperplasia, the precise etiology of which remains undefined. Pancreatic involvement of CD is particularly uncommon and often misdiagnosed due to its nonspecific clinical features, making it difficult to distinguish from tumors with abundant blood supply such as solid pseudopapillary tumors and neuroendocrine tumors. Multimodal imaging plays a crucial role in diagnosing pancreatic CD and determining the extent of lymph node involvement.

Background: Discovering an inhibitor for acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4), a protein that triggers cell injury via ferroptosis, presents potential to minimize cellular damage. This study investigates paeonol (PAE), a traditional Chinese herbal medicine, as an ACSL4 inhibitor to prevent chondrocyte ferroptosis and protect against osteoarthritis (OA).
Methods: We conducted experiments using mouse chondrocytes treated with PAE to mitigate ferroptosis induced by Interleukin-1 Beta (IL-1β) or ferric ammonium citrate (FAC), examining intracellular ferroptotic indicators, cartilage catabolic markers, and ferroptosis regulatory proteins.

Observational studies have reported an association between Vitamin D deficiency and an increased risk of bronchiectasis. This study aims to investigate the causal relationship between Vitamin D levels and bronchiectasis using a 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Data from 2 genome-wide association studies (GWAS) based on European ancestry were analyzed: serum vitamin D levels (sample size = 441,291 [UK Biobank]) and bronchiectasis (sample size = 187,830 [cases = 1107, controls = 186,723; FinnGen]).

In this study, we explore the cartilage defect repair mechanism by phosphocreatine-grafted chitosan hydrogels loaded with berberine-treated ATDC5 cells (CSMP@BBR@ATDC5). Under the optimal concentrations of LPS and BBR ideal conditions, ATDC5 cell toxicity and proliferation were detected with AM/PI and EdU staining. Additionally, qPCR and Western blot were employed to detect the expression of the SIRT1/BMP4 signaling pathway and chondrogenic-related factors in ATDC5 cells.

Drug package inserts are a crucial foundation for clinical medication practices and serve as the legal basis for guiding rational drug use and ensuring patient safety and efficacy. As rare disease treatments evolve, current package inserts often need to meet the clinical requirements for treating such conditions, frequently resulting in off-label drug use. This consensus is derived from discussions between Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association Hematologic Rare Diseases Group experts.

Background: Native cartilage has low capacity for regeneration because it has very few progenitor cells. Human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs) and human umbilical cord-derived MSCs (hUC-MSCs) have been employed as promising sources of stem cells for cartilage injury repair. Reproduction of hyaline cartilage from MSCs remains a challenging endeavor.

Melanoma, the most prevalent form of skin cancer, is primarily treated with surgical intervention. However, complete tumor cell removal is challenging, and surgical wounds are prone to infection, complicating treatment and increasing costs. The successful treatment of melanoma generally requires multifunctional agents that are coordinated in tumor therapy and wound healing.

Persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) is a syndrome of acute respiratory failure characterized by systemic hypoxemia and elevated pulmonary arterial pressure, which leads to pathological changes in pulmonary vascular remodeling and endothelial cell function. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) H19 has been shown to be involved in the regulation of arterial endothelial cell function, but its regulatory role in PPHN is not fully understood. In the present study, mouse pulmonary artery endothelial cells (MPAECs) were cultured in a hypoxic conditions.
