Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a severe neurological event lacking of effective therapy. Early brain injury (EBI) and delayed neurological dysfunction are important cause in the poor prognosis of patients with SAH. Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation has been implicated in many inflammatory lesion pathogeneses including SAH.

Demyelinating diseases are often caused by a variety of triggers, including immune responses, viral infections, malnutrition, hypoxia, or genetic factors, all of which result in the loss of myelin in the nervous system. The accumulation of myelin debris at the lesion site leads to neuroinflammation and inhibits remyelination; therefore, it is crucial to promptly remove the myelin debris. Initially, Fc and complement receptors on cellular surfaces were the primary clearance receptors responsible for removing myelin debris.

The research aims to study the therapeutic impact of HEK293-XPack-Olig2 cell-derived exosomes on remyelination of the corpus callosum in a cuprizone-induced demyelinating disease model. A lentiviral vector expressing Olig2 was constructed using XPack technology. The highly abundant Olig2 exosomes (ExoOs) were isolated by centrifugation for subsequent experiments.

Key Clinical Message: Leptospirosis is an important zoonosis worldwide. Due to nonspecific clinical manifestation and poor recognition in non-epidemic area, there is often a delay in diagnosis and treatment. Early diagnosis from Metagenomic next-generation sequencing test is crucial for timely intervention.

Demyelination is a proper syndrome in plenty of central nervous system (CNS) diseases, which is the main obstacle to recovery and still lacks an effective treatment. To overcome the limitations of the brain-blood barrier on drug permeability, we modified an exosome secreted by neural stem cells (NSCs), which had transfected with lentivirus armed with platelet-derived growth factors A (PDGFA)-ligand. Through the in vivo and in vitro exosomes targeting test, the migration ability to the lesion areas and OPCs significantly improved after ligand modification.

Demyelination is a pathological feature commonly observed in various central nervous system diseases. It is characterized by the aggregation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) in the lesion area, which face difficulties in differentiating into mature oligodendrocytes (OLGs). The differentiation of OPCs requires the presence of Sox10, but its expression decreases under pathological conditions.

Purpose: The prognosis following a hemorrhagic stroke is usually extremely poor. Rating scales have been developed to predict the outcomes of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). To date, however, the prognostic prediction models have not included the full range of relevant imaging features.

Accumulating evidence suggests that the bile acid regulates type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) through gut microbiota-host interactions. However, the mechanisms underlying such interactions have been unclear. Here, we found that glycoursodeoxycholic acid (GUDCA) positively regulates gut microbiota by altering bile acid metabolism.

Background: Percutaneous vertebroplasty was the most common strategy for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture. However, refracture after vertebroplasty also occurred and bone mineral density (BMD) was one of the main factors associated with refracture after percutaneous vertebroplasty.
Aims: To investigate the efficacy of a short-sequential treatment of teriparatide followed by alendronate on prevention of refracture after percutaneous vertebroplasty in osteoporotic patients, and compare it with the therapy of alendronate alone.

Objectives: Preventing the expansion of perihematomal edema (PHE) represents a novel strategy for the improvement of neurological outcomes in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) patients. Our goal was to predict early and delayed PHE expansion using a machine learning approach.
Methods: We enrolled 550 patients with spontaneous ICH to study early PHE expansion, and 389 patients to study delayed expansion.
Previous studies have shown that myristic acid (MA), a saturated fatty acid, could promote the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells . However, the effect of MA on hippocampal neurons aging has not been reported . Here we employed 22-month-old naturally aged C57BL/6 mice to evaluate the effect and mechanism of MA on hippocampal aging.

Background: Nicotine dependence is an addictive behavioral disease facilitated by habitually smoking cigarettes. In many countries, acupuncture and auricular acupressure have attracted growing attention as complementary or alternative treatments for smoking cessation; however, there is a lack of rigorous randomized, controlled studies evaluating the combination of these two interventions specifically for smoking cessation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of using acupuncture combined with auricular acupressure (A&AA) to increase the rates of smoking cessation and ultimately reduce the rates of relapse.

We attempt to generate a definition of delayed perihematomal edema expansion (DPE) and analyze its time course, risk factors, and clinical outcomes. A multi-cohort data was derived from the Chinese Intracranial Hemorrhage Image Database (CICHID). A non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) -based deep learning model was constructed for fully automated segmentation hematoma and perihematomal edema (PHE).

Objective: This study proposes to explore the protective effect of Zuo-Gui-Wan (ZGW) aqueous extract on spinal glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) and , and the underlying mechanisms of ZGW in GIOP and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were conducted.
Methods: , SD rats were randomly divided into three groups: control group (CON), dexamethasone (DEXM) group, and ZGW group, which were given vehicle, DEXM injection, and ZGW intragastric administration at the same time. Vertebral bone microarchitecture, biomechanics, histomorphology, serum AKP activity, and the autophagosome of osteoblasts were examined.

Hemorrhage expansion (HE) is a common and serious condition in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). In contrast to the volume changes, little is known about the morphological changes that occur during HE. We developed a novel method to explore the patterns of morphological change and investigate the clinical significance of this change in ICH patients.

Background: Pulsed dye laser (PDL) is the gold-standard therapy for port-wine stains (PWSs), but the therapeutic efficacies vary widely with each individual. Recent studies suggest that hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether-photodynamic therapy (HMME-PDT) is an effective alternative in the treatment of PWS. This retrospective study aimed to compare the effects of HMME-PDT and Cynergy dual-wavelength laser on red and purple color types of PWS METHODS: This retrospective study included 38 PWS patients who received Cynergy dual-wavelength laser treatment (PDL group) and 39 PWS patients who received HMME-PDT treatment (HMME-PDT group).

Cancer and cancer pain processes a major clinical challenge and the underlined mechanisms of pathogenesis remain elusive. We examined the specific changes in the transcriptomic profiles in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons of rats with bone cancer and bone cancer pain (BCP) using RNA sequencing technology. The bone cancer and BCP was induced by tumor cells implantation (TCI) into the tibia bone cavity in adult female rats.

In biofilm formation, a major role is played by the YycG/YycF two-component system, and previous findings have indicated that inhibitors targeting the cytoplasmic HATPase_c domain of YycG kinase in exhibit bactericidal and biofilm-killing activities.
