Background: Premature infants requiring mechanical ventilation and supplemental oxygen for respiratory support are at increased risk for bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), wherein inflammation have been proposed as a driver of hyperoxia-induced injuries, including persistent loss of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), impaired vascularization and eventual alveolar simplification in BPD lungs. However, the underlying mechanisms linking these phenomena remain poorly defined.
Methods: We used clodronate liposomes to deplete macrophages in a mouse model of neonatal hyperoxia-induced lung injury to evaluate if EPC loss in BPD lungs could be an effect of macrophage infiltration.
Objectives: To observe the therapeutic efficacy of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) combined with different pharmacological treatments for adenomyosis.
Materials And Methods: A total of 126 patients with adenomyosis who underwent HIFU combined with pharmacological treatment were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were treated with either dienogest (DNG) (Group A, = 38) or GnRH-a (Group B, = 88) for three months after HIFU, and received levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine systems (LNG-IUS) at the end of the third month.

Background: Prolonged orthodontic treatment duration has long been a concern for orthodontists and patients, leading to a surge in publications on accelerated orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). This study aims to investigate the knowledge landscape, hotspots, and research trends in acceleration of OTM using bibliometric and visual analyses.
Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection to identify relevant publications related to acceleration of OTM.
Key Clinical Message: With no family history, and an atypical phenotype, the clinical diagnosing of Noonan syndrome (NS) can be very difficult. The present case emphasized that generalized edema in neonates may be the potential first symptom of NS.
Abstract: Severe generalized edema is a rare pathological condition with high mortality in newborns, in particular the premature infants.

Liraglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analog, is approved for obesity treatment, but the specific neuronal sites that contribute to its therapeutic effects remain elusive. Here, we show that GLP-1 receptor-positive (GLP-1R-positive) neurons in the lateral septum (LSGLP-1R) play a critical role in mediating the anorectic and weight-loss effects of liraglutide. LSGLP-1R neurons were robustly activated by liraglutide, and chemogenetic activation of these neurons dramatically suppressed feeding.

Benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) or benzo (a) pyrene 7,8-dihydrodiol-9,10-epoxide (BPDE) exposure causes trophoblast cell dysfunctions and induces miscarriage, which is generally epigenetically regulated. Homologous recombination (HR) repair of DNA double strand break (DSB) plays a crucial role in maintenance of genetic stability and cell normal functions. However, whether BaP/BPDE might suppress HR repair in human trophoblast cells to induce miscarriage, as well as its epigenetic regulatory mechanism, is largely unclear.

Background: CircRNA-encoded proteins (CEPs) are emerging as new players in health and disease, and function as baits for the common partners of their cognate linear-spliced RNA encoded proteins (LEPs). However, their prevalence across human tissues and biological roles remain largely unexplored. The placenta is an ideal model for identifying CEPs due to its considerable protein diversity that is required to sustain fetal development during pregnancy.

Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecological cancer in the developed world. However, the accuracy of current diagnostic methods is still unsatisfactory and time-consuming. Here, we presented an alternate approach to monitoring the progression of endometrial cancer via multiphoton microscopy imaging and analysis of collagen, which is often overlooked in current endometrial cancer diagnosis protocols but can offer a crucial signature in cancer biology.

The potential long-term effects of anesthesia on cognitive development, especially in neonates and infants, have raised concerns. However, our understanding of its underlying mechanisms and effective treatments is still limited. In this study, we found that early exposure to isoflurane (ISO) impaired fear memory retrieval, which was reversed by dexmedetomidine (DEX) pre-treatment.

Early-onset preeclampsia, which occurrs before 34 weeks of gestation, is the most dangerous classification of preeclampsia, which is a pregnancy-specific disease that causes 1% of maternal deaths. G protein-coupled receptor 124 (GPR124) is significantly expressed at various stages of the human reproductive process, particularly during embryogenesis and angiogenesis. Our prior investigation demonstrated a notable decrease in GPR124 expression in the placentas of patients with early-onset preeclampsia compared to that in normal pregnancy placentas.

Introduction: Pre-eclampsia (PE) affects about 5% of Chinese pregnant women and is a major cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. The first trimester screening model developed by the Fetal Medicine Foundation, which uses the Bayes theorem to combine maternal characteristics and medical history together with measurements of biomarkers, has been proven to be effective and has superior screening performance to that of the traditional risk factor-based approach for the prediction of PE. Prophylactic use of low-dose aspirin in women at risk for PE has resulted in a lower incidence of preterm-PE.
