Cyclin D3 (CCND3), a member of the cyclin D family, is known to promote cell cycle transition. In this study, we found that CCND3 was downregulated in cisplatin-resistant (-diamminedichloroplatinum, DDP) lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cells. The loss of CCND3 indeed impeded cell cycle transition.

Objective: This study aims to summarize the clinical characteristics of skull base osteoradionecrosis (ORN) with the internal carotid artery (ICA) involvement and to distill the key surgical techniques that can enhance the protective measures for ICA.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective, observational study over a six-year period from February 2017 to May 2023. We included patients who were diagnosed with osteoradionecrosis with invasion of the internal carotid artery and collected their demographic information, pathology results, complication rates, ect.

Objectives: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an aggressive malignancy with high rates of morbidity and mortality, largely because of its late diagnosis and metastatic potential. Lactate metabolism and protein lactylation are thought to play roles in NPC pathogenesis by modulating the tumor microenvironment and immune evasion. However, research specifically linking lactate-related mechanisms to NPC remains limited.

Many systemic diseases, including Alzheimer disease (AD), diabetes mellitus (DM) and cardiovascular disease, are associated with microbiota dysbiosis. The oral and intestinal microbiota are directly connected anatomically, and communicate with each other through the oral-gut microbiome axis to establish and maintain host microbial homeostasis. In addition to directly, periodontal bacteria may also be indirectly involved in the regulation of systemic health and disease through the disturbed gut.

Previous studies suggest that a high body mass index (BMI) may be a risk factor for keratoconus (KC), but the causal relationship remains unclear. This study used Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate this connection and explore the mediating role of circulating serum metabolites and inflammatory factors in this association. Two-sample MR analysis was conducted to assess the relationship between BMI and KC.

Background: We observed a rare anatomical variation of a persistent first intersegmental vertebral artery in the C1-C2 region in an elderly Chinese male cadaver at Changzhi Medical College. In this case, the vertebral artery, rather than passing through the transverse foramen of the atlas, exits the transverse foramen of C2 and enters the spinal canal at the lower portion of the C1 posterior arch. The original transverse foramen of C1 was filled with connective tissue.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to describe the maximum exposure of the infraorbital region via the orbital floor using the transnasal prelacrimal recess approach (PLRA), and to provide an anatomical basis for treating lesions in the infraorbital region.
Methods: Ten freshly injected frozen heads were dissected using the PLRA. The orbital floor was removed along the border of the medial infraorbital quadrangle, and the periorbita was opened to expose the infraorbital region.

Background: The role of periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) in repairing periodontal destruction is crucial, but their functions can be impaired by excessive oxidative stress (OS). Nocardamine (NOCA), a cyclic siderophore, has been shown to possess anti-cancer and anti-bacterial properties. This study aimed to investigate the protective mechanisms of NOCA against OS-induced cellular dysfunction in PDLSCs.

The prevalence rate of allergic diseases including asthma, atopic rhinitis (AR) and atopic dermatitis (AD) has been significantly increasing in recent decades due to environmental changes and social developments. With the study of innate lymphoid cells, the crucial role played by type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) have been progressively unveiled in allergic diseases. ILC2s, which are a subset of innate lymphocytes initiate allergic responses.

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is caused by immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated reactions to inhaled allergens, which leads to mucosal inflammation and barrier dysfunction. The transcription factor forkhead box C1 (FOXC1) has been identified to be associated with allergic inflammation. This study sought to uncover the role of FOXC1 in AR.

Six new sesquiterpene quinone/hydroquinone meroterpenoids, arenarialins A-F (-), were isolated from the marine sponge collected from the South China Sea. Their chemical structures and absolute configurations were determined by HRMS and NMR data analyses coupled with DP4+ and ECD calculations. Arenarialin A () features an unprecedented tetracyclic 6/6/5/6 carbon skeleton, whereas arenarialins B-D (-) possess two rare secomeroterpene scaffolds.

The myosin heavy chain 9 (MYH9) gene encodes the heavy chain of non-muscle myosin IIA (NMIIA), which belongs to the myosin II subfamily of actin-based molecular motors. Previous studies have demonstrated that abnormal expression and mutations of MYH9 were correlated with MYH9-related diseases and tumors. Furthermore, earlier investigations identified MYH9 as a tumor suppressor.
