Amyloid-β protein (Aβ) is an important biomarker and plays a key role in the early stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Here, an ultrasensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor based on ZnO@polydopamine/Au nanocomposites was constructed for quantitative detection of Aβ. In this sensing system, the ZnO nanorod array decorated with PDA films and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) have excellent visible-light activity.

Diffusion-weighted imaging lesions in intracerebral hemorrhage are related to a higher risk of recurrent intracerebral hemorrhage, cognitive damage, and mortality. However, it has been reported that the relationship between the risk of diffusion-weighted imaging lesions and intracerebral hemorrhage subtype or the possible risk factors for diffusion-weighted imaging lesions is variable. This meta-analysis was performed to evaluate this relationship.

FGFR/RACK1 interacts with MDM2, promotes P53 degradation, and inhibits cell senescence in lung squamous cell carcinoma.

Cancer Biol Med

March 2021

State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease, National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Disease, Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou 510120, China.

Objective: FGFR is considered an important driver gene of lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). Thus, identification of the biological events downstream of FGFR is important for the treatment of this malignancy. Our previous study has shown that the FGFR/RACK1 complex interacts with PKM2 and consequently promotes glycolysis in LSCC cells.

Complete Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery for Rib Fractures: Series of 35 Cases.

Ann Thorac Surg

February 2022

Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Shenzhen Longgang Central Hospital, the Ninth People's Hospital of Shenzhen City, Shenzhen, China.

Background: Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for internal fixation of rib fractures is a promising approach for treating rib fractures and flail chest. Currently the standard practice is to make 1 or several incisions on the chest wall, which will inevitably aggravate the original trauma.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients with rib fractures who were treated with memory alloy for internal fixation by complete VATS using a thoracoscopic transthoracic memory alloy rib coaptation board and an implantation tool through the clip applier method or the puncture, traction, and suspension method at our hospital from October 2016 to June 2019.

The current research aimed to investigate the effect of miR-7 targeting matrix metalloproteinase 14 (MMP-14) on homocysteine (Hcy)-induced rat cerebral artery vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) proliferation, migration and inflammatory factor expression and its possible mechanism. The expression of miR-7 and MMP-14 in Hcy-induced VSMCs were detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and Western blot. Methyl Thiazolyl Tetrazolium (MTT) method, Transwell assays and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were performed to detect the effect of miR-7 and MMP-14 expression on the proliferation and migration, as well as interleukin 6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor É‘ (TNF-É‘) expression of Hcy-induced VSMCs.

We report the clinical and laboratory findings and successful management of seven patients with critical coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) requiring mechanical ventilation (MV). The patients were diagnosed based on epidemiological history, clinical manifestations, and nucleic acid testing. Upon diagnosis with COVID-19 of critical severity, the patients were admitted to the intensive care unit, where they received early noninvasive-invasive sequential ventilation, early prone positioning, and bundle pharmacotherapy regimen, which consists of antiviral, anti-inflammation, immune-enhancing, and complication-prophylaxis medicines.
