Background: Genetic and environmental factors contribute to psoriasis, but the impact of residential environments on this condition remains uncertain. We aimed to investigate the association of residential environments with psoriasis risk and explore its interaction with genes.
Methods: We retrieved data on the spatial distribution of residential environments at 300 and 1000 m buffer zones from the UK Biobank, including the proportions of natural environments, domestic gardens, green spaces, and blue spaces within these zones.

Straightforward, sensitive, and specific human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) assays are urgently needed. The creation of a point-of-care (POC) device for decentralized diagnostics has the potential to significantly reduce the time to treatment, especially for infectious diseases. Notably, however, many POC solutions proposed to date fall short of meeting the ASSURED guidelines, which are crucial for effective deployment in the field.

Biobanks, through the collection and storage of patient blood, tissue, genomic, and other biological samples, provide unique and rich resources for the research and management of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer. These samples contain valuable cellular and molecular level information that can be utilized to decipher the pathogenesis of diseases, guide the development of novel diagnostic technologies, treatment methods, and personalized medical strategies. This article first outlines the historical evolution of biobanks, their classification, and the impact of technological advancements.

Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of HLA-E are related to the occurrence of many diseases, but their functions remain unclear. In this study, the function of SNPs at HLA-E rs76971248 and rs1264457 on the myeloid leukemia cells was analyzed by a progressive procedure, included genotyping, mRNA transcription, regulatory element, protein expression, and anti-tumor effect. The frequencies of rs76971248 G and rs1264457 G were found higher in myeloid leukemia patients than those in healthy blood donors (p < 0.

Background: Rectal Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) infections among men who have sex with men (MSM) are escalating public health concerns. This study aimed to explore (1) the reliability of self-reported sexual positioning as an indicator for rectal CT and NG screening, and (2) factors associated with rectal CT and NG infections in Shenzhen, China.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2 settings in Shenzhen, China, from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022.

Laboratory testing is a vital chain in the prevention and control of genital chlamydia trachomatis infection. The prevalence of genital chlamydia trachomatis infection is high, but the detection rate of the infection is low in men who have sex with men (MSM) in China. Self-sampling for genital chlamydia trachomatis detection by MSM is a new option to address this problem, which would play a significant role in expanding genital chlamydia trachomatis infection screening in this population.

Purpose: Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is a heterogeneous disease characterised by the rapid clonal expansion of abnormally differentiated myeloid progenitor cells residing in a complex microenvironment. However, the immune cell types, status, and genome profile of the peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) microenvironment in AML patients after chemotherapy are poorly understood. In order to explore the immune microenvironment of AML patients after chemotherapy, we conducted this study for providing insights into precision medicine and immunotherapy of AML.

Information on the prevalence and incidence of sexually transmitted infections is important for developing prevention and control strategies and allocating human and financial resources. However, there are no available estimates of such information for many areas in China. In this study, we used the existing data to make a preliminary estimation of syphilis infections in Shenzhen city, in south-eastern China.
