Background: Bone mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC)-derived exosomes (B-exos) are attractive for applications in enabling alloantigen tolerance. An in-depth mechanistic understanding of the interaction between B-exos and dendritic cells (DCs) could lead to novel cell-based therapies for allogeneic transplantation.
Objectives: To examine whether B-exos exert immunomodulatory effects on DC function and maturation.

Objective: The value of multiphase contrast-enhanced CT in differentiating gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and gastric leiomyomas (GLMs) which were ≤3 cm was evaluated using machine learning.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 45 cases of small gastric wall submucosal tumors (including 22 GISTs and 23 GLMs) with pathologically confirmed diameter ≤3 cm and completed multiphase CT-enhanced scan images. The CT features including tumor location, maximum diameter, shape, margins, growth pattern, plain/enhanced CT value, cystic degeneration, calcification, ulcer, progressive reinforcement, perilesional lymph nodes, and the CT value ratio of the tumor to the aorta at the same level in the enhanced phase III scan of the two groups were evaluated.

Objectives: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in carcinogenesis, though their expression profile in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is uncharacterized. The tumor suppressor gene miR-145-5p is expressed in RCC tissues, but its relationship with circRNAs is unknown. Thus, we aimed to identify differentially expressed circRNAs in RCC tissues and to explore the interaction between these circRNAs and miR-145 in the development of RCC.

To evaluate the relationship between psychological distress and the efficacy of whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) in advanced brain metastasis patients. Brain metastasis patients (40 with psychological distress and 47 without psychological distress) completed distress thermometer tests before WBRT, and progression-free survival (PFS) was acquired during the follow-up period. Psychological distress was a risk factor for poorer PFS in patients treated with WBRT (p < 0.

The relationship among alcohol, acetaldehyde, and gastric cancer (GC) is a very interesting research direction. Although many studies have focused on the correlation between ALDH2 polymorphism and GC, ALDH2 expression in GC and its relationship with the prognosis of GC patients remain to be fully understood. To explore these, 455 GC cases were included in this study.

Objective: Tumor hypoxia is frequently observed in primary solid malignancies, but the hypoxic status of tumor cells floating in body cavity effusions is largely unknown, especially in patients. This study was to observe the hypoxia and proliferation status of cancer cells floating in effusions in mice and patients.
Methods: The distribution of hypoxia in cancer cells floating in ascites was first studied in nude mice.

During the perioperative period of pediatric surgery, it is extremely stressful for children and parents to enter the operating room and receive the anesthesia induction. This study was designed to evaluate the perioperative outcomes with parental presence at induction of anesthesia (PPIA), intranasal dexmedetomidine, and combined use of PPIA and intranasal dexmedetomidine. In this prospective study, 124 children were randomly divided into four groups: control (no parental presence or intranasal dexmedetomidine), PPIA (parental presence), DEX (intranasal dexmedetomidine (1.

Bone metastasis is a common complication of many types of advanced cancer, including breast cancer. Bone metastasis may cause severe pain, fractures, and hypercalcemia, rendering clinical management challenging and substantially reducing the quality of life and overall survival (OS) time of breast cancer patients. Studies have revealed that bone metastasis is related to interactions between tumor cells and the bone microenvironment, and involves complex molecular biological mechanisms, including colonization, osteolytic destruction, and an immunosuppressive bone microenvironment.

Objectives: Accurate endoscopic optical prediction of the depth of cancer invasion is critical for guiding an optimal treatment approach of large sessile colorectal polyps but was hindered by insufficient endoscopists expertise and inter-observer variability. We aimed to construct a clinically applicable artificial intelligence (AI) system for the identification of presence of cancer invasion in large sessile colorectal polyps.
Methods: A deep learning-based colorectal cancer invasion calculation (CCIC) system was constructed.

Ramucirumab, as a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 inhibitor, was first approved in 2014 for treated advanced or metastatic gastric/gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) adenocarcinoma. This study deeply analyzed the efficacy and safety of advanced or metastatic cancer treated with ramucirumab, which included 11 global, double-blind, phase 3 randomized controlled trials with a total of 7410 patients. Subgroup analysis based on different cancer types showed that standard regimens plus ramucirumab significantly increased progression-free survival and overall survival compared with placebo groups in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric cancer, or GEJ adenocarcinoma.

Primary liver cancer is the sixth most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of liver cancer, accounting for 75%-85% of cases. The occurrence and progression of HCC involve multiple events. Pyroptosis is a gasdermins mediated programmed cell death and is intricately associated with cancerogenesis, including HCC.
