To date, no prospective study has been conducted to compare the safety and effectiveness of endoscopic snare resection with an elastic band (ESR-EB) and endoscopic snare resection with a transparent cap (ESR-C) for treating gastric muscularis propria lesions. We aimed to compare the safety and effectiveness of ESR-EB with those of ESR-C for gastric muscularis propria lesions less than 10 mm in diameter. A total of 64 patients were enrolled prospectively from May 2023 to November 2023 at Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University, and the People's Hospital of Zhongshan City.

Objective: Abnormal mechanical stress is intimately coupled with osteoarthritis (OA). Microtubules play a vital role in the regulation of mechanotransduction and intracellular transport. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the impact of stress-induced microtubule impairment on intracellular transport and lipid droplet (LD) accumulation in chondrocytes.

Objective: Some cells in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) cartilage undergo proliferation in response to negative pressure, which can be induced in vivo by creating bilateral anterior elevation (BAE). TMJ cartilage harbours CD90-expressing cells, and CD90 expression increases under certain controlled conditions. The parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) nuclear localization segment (NLS) promotes chondrocyte proliferation, and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signalling plays a regulatory role in promoting PTHrP transcription.

Background: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a surgical procedure for treating certain knee conditions. Proper execution of HTO can preserve joint function and delay or avoid the need for total knee replacement. This study compared different 3D printing techniques (fused deposition modeling, selective laser sintering, and direct metal laser sintering) and a navigation system for their suitability in assisting HTO surgeries.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) patients frequently experience sleep disturbances, significantly impacting their quality of life. Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is considered the first-line treatment but is often complex, costly, and requires highly trained therapists. Behavioral activation (BA), derived from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), offers a flexible, simple, and cost-effective alternative.

Objective: To explore the correlation between heart rate variability (HRV), peripheral cytokines, anxiety and pain scores in patients with breast cancer (BC).
Methods: We collected blood samples from 100 BC patients and measured the concentrations of Interleukin 6 (IL-6), Interleukin 4 (IL-4) and Interferon gamma (IFN-γ). We collected the patients' 5-minute dynamic electrocardiograms and evaluated their anxiety and pain levels through the Anxiety Self-Rating Scale and the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ) Scale.

Osteoarthritis (OA), a joint disease, burdens global healthcare due to aging and obesity. Recent studies show that extracellular vesicles (EVs) from bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) contribute to joint homeostasis and OA management. However, the impact of donor age on BMSC-derived EV efficacy remains underexplored.

Background: Exposure to metal could impact women's depression risk. However, the connection and mechanisms between metalloestrogens exposure and depression are still not fully understood. We aim to explore the associations between metalloestrogens and the risk of depression in women across reproductive lifespan.

Objective: To explore whether there are correlations between loneliness, disease uncertainty, and perceived social support among elderly patients with digestive tract tumors.
Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 149 patients with digestive tract tumors. A general information questionnaire, the Chinese version of the Cancer Patient Loneliness Scale, the Disease Uncertainty Scale, and the Perceived Social Support Assessment Scale were used.

Tank-binding kinase 1 (TBK1) is a critical signal transducer in the nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) and interferon regulatory factor (IRF) pathways, essential for innate immunity. However, its negative regulation mechanisms remain unclear. This study demonstrates that TBK1 succinylation, regulated by desuccinylase SIRT5, inhibits lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)-mediated NF-κB and IRF signaling activation.

Background: Small bowel bezoar obstruction (SBBO) is a rare clinical condition characterized by hard fecal masses in the small intestine, causing intestinal obstruction. It occurs more frequently in the elderly and bedridden patients, but can also affect those with specific gastrointestinal dysfunctions. Diagnosing SBBO is challenging due to its clinical presentation, which mimics other intestinal obstructions.

Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer stands as one of the most prevalent forms of cancer globally, presenting a substantial medical and economic burden on cancer treatment. Despite advancements in therapies, it continues to exhibit the second highest mortality rate, primarily attributed to drug resistance and post-treatment side effects. There is an urgent need for novel therapeutic approaches to tackle this persistent challenge.

Radiotherapy (RT) stands as a frontline treatment modality in clinical breast oncology, yet challenges like ROS reduction, high toxicity, non-selectivity, and hypoxia hinder efficacy. Additionally, RT administered at different doses can induce varying degrees of radioimmunotherapy. High doses of radiation (>10 Gy) may result in immune suppression, while moderate doses (4-10 Gy), although capable of mitigating the immune suppression caused by high-dose radiation, are often insufficient in effectively killing tumor cells.

Background: Depression weakens antitumor immunity, yet the underlying mechanisms linking depression and tumor growth remain unclear. This study examines the influence of depression on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, immunological function, and effectiveness of immunotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients.
Methods: A mouse model of comorbid TNBC and depression was established via chronic restraint stress (CRS) and 4T1 tumor transplantation.

Purpose: We investigated whether homoharringtonine (HHT) added to venetoclax (VEN) plus azacitidine (VA) could improve outcomes and counteract the negative effects of genetic patterns in patients with relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukemia (RR-AML).
Experimental Design: A multi-center, retrospective, cohort study of the response and genetic patterns of response to the VA plus HHT (VAH) versus the VA regimens as salvage treatment in patients with RR-AML was performed. The endpoints were the rates of composite complete remission (CRc), measurable residual disease (MRD), event-free survival (EFS), overall survival (OS), and relapse between VAH and VA groups.

Introduction: Successful reperfusion does not always lead to good neurological outcomes and impaired microcirculation can be one of the underlying causes. Intra-arterial alteplase after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) may improve microcirculation contributing to neurological recovery, but prospective randomised studies are still needed to validate its efficacy and safety. We aim to assess the efficacy and safety of intra-arterial alteplase after MT for acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) with large-vessel occlusion (LVO).

Results: A notable and statistically significant decrease in the expression levels of hsa_circ_0004194 was observed specifically within CRC tissues when compared to non-tumor colorectal mucosa tissues. Functional evaluations, such as CCK8 assays, plate clone formation analysis, and transwell migration assays, our study revealed hsa_circ_0004194 significantly reduced the activity behavior of CRC cells.
