Background: Vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation is involved in many types of arterial diseases, including neointima hyperplasia, in which Ca has been recognized as a key player. However, the physiological role of Ca release via inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors (IPRs) from endoplasmic reticulum in regulating VSMC proliferation has not been well determined.
Methods And Results: Both in vitro cell culture models and in vivo mouse models were generated to investigate the role of IPRs in regulating VSMC proliferation.
A workflow that combined metagenomic sequencing with flow cytometry was developed. The absolute abundance of pathogens was accurately estimated in mock communities and real samples. Metagenome-assembled genomes binned from metagenomic data set is robust in phylogenetic analysis and virulence profiling.

Although the impacts of either lattice strain or oxygen defects on the OER performance of oxide catalysts have been extensively investigated, the effects of both factors are normally treated separately. In this work, the coupled effects of both strain and oxygen deficiency on the electrocatalytic activity of LaSrCoO (LSC) thin films grown on single crystal substrates (LaAlO3 (LAO) and SrTiO3 (STO)) are investigated.

Despite empirical evidence that limited availability of phosphorus (P) may limit the response of NPP to increasing atmospheric CO, none of the ESMs used in the previous Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment accounted for P limitation. We diagnosed from ESM simulations the amount of P need to support increases in carbon uptake by natural ecosystems using two approaches: the demand derived from (1) changes in C stocks and (2) changes in NPP.
