TdT combined with Cas14a for the electrochemical biosensing of NPC-derived exosomes.

In this work, the electrochemical biosensor based on the subtle combination of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT), CRISPR/Cas14a, and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) was developed for the detection of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC)-derived exosomes. Due to the synergistic effect of the following factors: the powerful elongation capacity of TdT for single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) with 3-hydroxy terminus, the outstanding trans-cleavage ability of CRISPR/Cas14a specifcally activated by the crRNA binding to target DNA, and the excellent separation ability of MNPs, the developed electrochemical biosensor exhibited high sensitivity for the detection of NPC-derived exosome, with a linear range from 6.0 × 10 ∼ 1.

Acceptance and the influencing factors towards intermittent self-catheterisation among patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction in China: a multicentre cross-sectional study.

Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have been described in various malignancies and viewed as a sign of anti-tumor immunity, so they are frequently thought to be implicated in the prognosis of cancers. However, little information is available on the association of the distribution pattern of TILs with clinical outcomes in gastric cancer (GC). TIL densities at different regions were assessed immunohistochemically in 59 GC patients to analyze their relationship with clinicopathological characteristics.

Circadian rhythm dysfunction and psychopathology in the offspring of parents with bipolar disorder: a high-risk study in the Chinese population.

Background: Understanding the evolution of circadian rhythm dysfunction and psychopathology in the high-risk population has important implications for the prevention of bipolar disorder. Nevertheless, some of the previous studies on the emergence of psychopathologies and circadian dysfunction among high-risk populations were inconsistent and limited.

Aims: To examine the prevalence rates of sleep and circadian dysfunctions, mental disorders and their symptoms in the offspring of parents with (O-BD) and without bipolar disorder (O-control).

Tongue feature recognition to monitor rehabilitation: deep neural network with visual attention mechanism.

Objective: We endeavor to develop a novel deep learning architecture tailored specifically for the analysis and classification of tongue features, including color, shape, and coating. Unlike conventional methods based on architectures like VGG or ResNet, our proposed method aims to address the challenges arising from their extensive size, thereby mitigating the overfitting problem. Through this research, we aim to contribute to the advancement of techniques in tongue feature recognition, ultimately leading to more precise diagnoses and better patient rehabilitation in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Predictors of medical staff's knowledge, attitudes and behavior of dysphagia assessment: A cross-sectional study.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the predictors of medical staff's Knowledge, Attitudes and Behavior of dysphagia assessment, to provide reference suggestions for constructing the training program and improving the rate of dysphagia assessment.

Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study. A total of 353 nurses and doctors from four provinces (Guangdong, Hunan, Guangxi, and Shaanxi) who were selected by convenience sampling and invited to complete the questionnaire through WeChat, DingTalk, and Tencent instant messenger from May 23 to 31, 2022.

Association between neck circumference and diabetes mellitus: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Despite that several original researchers have investigated the association between neck circumference (NC) and the risk of diabetes mellitus (DM), their results remain controversial. This review aimed to quantitatively determine the risk of DM in relation to the NC.

Methods: We conducted a literature search of PubMed, Embase, and the Web of Science from these databases' inception through September 2022 to identify observational studies that examined the association between NC and the risk of DM.

Fluorescent aptasensor based on the MNPs-CRISPR/Cas12a-TdT for the determination of nasopharyngeal carcinoma-derived exosomes.

A fluorescence aptasensor based on taking the advantage of the combination of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT), and CRISPR/Cas12a was developed for the determination of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC)-derived exosomes. The MNPs can eliminate background interference due to their magnetic separation capability. TdT can form an ultra-long polynucleotide tail which can bind with multiple crRNA, generating a signal amplification effect.

Gut microbiota composition reflects disease progression, severity and outcome, and dysfunctional immune responses in patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to explore the alterations in gut microbiota composition and cytokine responses related to disease progression, severity, and outcomes in patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Methods: Fecal microbiota communities of 64 patients with ICH, 46 coronary heart disease controls, and 23 healthy controls were measured by sequencing the V3-V4 region of the 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) gene. Serum concentrations of a broad spectrum of cytokines were examined by liquid chips and ELISA.

Research on Cognition and Training Needs of Sex Education during Pregnancy among Obstetricians and Obstetric Nurses in Guangdong Province Based on Mixed Research Perspective.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to understand the current status and existing responses of obstetricians and obstetric nurses in Guangdong Province regarding sex education during pregnancy and to understand their acceptance of sex education during pregnancy and the knowledge and information they would like to obtain in sex education courses.

Methods: A phenomenological research method was used to conduct in-depth interviews with 12 obstetricians and obstetric nurses in a tertiary hospital in Guangdong Province to understand their perceptions and attitudes toward providing sex education to pregnant women. A self-designed questionnaire was used to survey 462 obstetricians and obstetric nurses in Guangdong Province to understand their needs for sex education.

Timeliness of information disclosure during the low transmission period of COVID-19: resident-level observational study in China.

Background: Only when people feel they have received timely disclosure will they have sufficient incentive to implement community prevention and control measures. The timely and standardized information published by authorities as a response to the crisis can better inform the public and enable better preparations for the pandemic during the low transmission period of COVID-19; however, there is limited evidence of whether people consent that information is disclosed timely and influencing factors.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in China from 4 to 26 February 2021.

The global prevalence of sexual violence against pregnant women: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

When committed against pregnant women, sexual violence may have adverse health consequences for both the mother and the unborn child. To date, no studies have systematically summarized the global prevalence of sexual violence against pregnant women. We conducted a comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase and Web of Science from inception dates to January 2021 for studies reporting the prevalence of sexual violence against pregnant women.

As more and more countries enter the low-transmission phase, maintaining prevention awareness among the population is critical to prevent a secondary outbreak. With large-scale interpersonal communication, whether Chinese residents can maintain a high awareness of prevention and control and adhere to the use of masks during the Chinese New Year of 2021 is worth studying. A cross-sectional survey was conducted in China from February 4 to 26, 2021.

A highly sensitive electrochemical aptasensor for vascular endothelial growth factor detection based on toehold-mediated strand displacement reaction.

An electrochemical aptasensor with high sensitivity, specificity, and good intra-day reproducibility is reported to meet the detection needs of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The toehold-mediated strand displacement recycling amplification and VEGF aptamer are integrated in the biosensor. The probe A is hybridized with the VEGF aptamer to form the probe A-aptamer complex.

Baicalin improves podocyte injury in rats with diabetic nephropathy by inhibiting PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway.

Objective: To investigate the effect of baicalin on diabetic nephropathy (DN) rats and podocytes and its mechanism.

Methods: The rat models with DN were established by high-fat and high-sugar diet and intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin. The fasting blood glucose (FBG) and weight of rats in each group were measured at 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks.

Background: Traumatic coagulopathy (TC) arises primarily from coagulation system failure to maintain adequate hemostasis after serious blood loss or trauma. Circulatory homeostasis restoration is the mainstay of the therapeutic approach to TC, but the effects are significantly inhibited by coagulopathy.
