Background: Acute myocardial injury (AMI), which is induced by renal ischemia-reperfusion (IR), is a significant cause of acute kidney injury (AKI)-related associated death. Obesity increases the severity and frequency of AMI and AKI. Tanshinone IIA (TIIA) combined with cyclosporine A (CsA) pretreatment was used to alleviate myocardial cell apoptosis induced by renal IR, and to determine whether TIIA combined with CsA would attenuate myocardial cell apoptosis by modulating mitochondrial function through the PI3K/Akt/Bad pathway in obese rats.

Objective: The aim of this study was to observe the spatial distribution and dynamic changes of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2, MMP-9, and collagen in in stent restenosis (ISR) and to explore their influence on ISR.
Methods: Sixty Z type stents were implanted into the common iliac arteries of minipigs, which were divided into 10 groups (six in each group) according to euthanasia time (6 hours, and 1, 3, 7, 14, 28, 56, 84, 168, and 336 days). After the samples were harvested, haematoxylin and eosin staining, immunohistochemical staining, Western blotting, and Picrosirius red staining were performed for all groups.

Purpose: The main objectives of this study were to assess the early changes in pulmonary function and intrarenal haemodynamics and to determine the correlation between pulmonary function and intrarenal haemodynamics in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: 96 patients with T2DM (diabetes group) without diabetes kidney disease (DKD) and 33 healthy subjects (control group) were enrolled in studies intended to assess the early changes in pulmonary function and intrarenal haemodynamics associated with diabetes, as well as to determine the correlation between pulmonary function and intrarenal haemodynamics.
Results: Pulmonary functional parameters were negatively correlated with HbA1c levels and diabetes duration (P< 0.

Objective: The primary aim of this study is to examine the hemodynamics of retrobulbar and intrarenal in the changes of early stage of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients from 2000 to 2015 and to assess incidence associated with diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and diabetic retinopathy (DR).
Method: Our study contained 60 subjects newly diagnosed of T2DM were divided into 2 groups base on the mean resistive index (RI) (≤0.7 and >0.

Background: Posterior Capsular Opacification (PCO) is one of the most common complications of cataract surgery which can result in severe visual damage. Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) of lens epithelium cells (LEC) is the pathological basis of PCO. Recent research showed that hypoxia acted as an inducer of EMT through a Notch1/Snail1/E-cadherin pathway.

The study was conducted for comparing the effects of 12 DNA damage response gene mutations (CHEK1, CHEK2, RAD51, BRCA1, BRCA2, MLH1, MSH2, ATM, ATR, MDC1, PARP1, and FANCF) on the overall survival (OS) of breast cancer (BC) patients. We searched the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database from inception to September 2016. Studies that investigated the association between 12 DNA damage responses related genes and BC consolidated into this Network meta-analysis, by comparing directly or indirectly to evaluate the hazard rate (HR) value and the surface under the cumulative sequence ranking curves (SUCRA).

Background: The primary goals of this study were to evaluate early changes in pulmonary function and retrobulbar hemodynamics and to examine the correlation between these parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes during the preclinical stages of diabetic retinopathy.
Methods: For the single-time point measurements, 63 subjects with type 2 diabetes without diabetic retinopathy (diabetes group) and 32 healthy subjects (control group) were selected to evaluate any early changes in pulmonary function and retrobulbar hemodynamics and to examine the correlation between these parameters. In the longitudinal follow-up study, 32 subjects who were newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes were divided into 2 groups according to their resistivity index (≤0.

Background: To observe the effect of alogliptin combined with metformin on pulmonary function in obese patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled by metformin monotherapy (500 mg, bid po, for at least 3 months), and evaluate its efficacy and safety.
Methods: After a 2-week screening period, adult patients (aged 36-72 years) entered a 4-week run-in/stabilization period. Then, patients were randomly assigned to either the intervention group (n = 55) or the control group (n = 50) for 26 weeks.

Background And Objectives: Chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) is regarded as a type of severe diffuse retinal pigment epitheliopathy. There is an atrophic tract at level of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) due to hyper-permeability of choroidal vessels, along with photoreceptor (PR) atrophy. Indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) is considered a gold standard for diagnosis.
