Objective: To investigate the effect of phosphatase and ensinhomology deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN) on the human pancreatic cancer cell line without or low PTEN expression.
Methods: We selected the lowest PTEN gene expressive pancreatic cancer cell line among the four pancreatic cancer cell lines (Miapaca I, Miapaca II, JF305 and ASPC-1) through RT-PCR assay method, and transfected plasmid (Peak8) inserting PTEN or not in vitro into it by lipofectin. The effect of PTEN transfection on the lowest PTEN gene expressive pancreatic cancer cell line was carried out by flow cytometry, immunohistochemical staining, cloning survival assay, as well as tumorigenicity in nude mice.

Objective: To explore the effects of body posture on upper airway shapes in OSAHS patients.
Method: Thirty-one male OSAHS patients were included in the study. The fibre endoscopic photos were taken on palate and lingua region upper airway at normal breath at supine with 30 degree neck flexion, supine and right lateral recumbent position, respectively.

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic significance of CT scan in the localization of the stricture in the upper airway in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS).
Methods: Fifty-four patients with OSAS were included in this study. CT scan evaluated the upper airway from the roof of nasopharynx to the glottis using a Phlips Tomoscan AV Expander E1 spiral scanner.

Objective: To examine the effect of streptomycin on the calcium influx in spiral ganglion cells (SGCs) during depolarization and the differences among different concentrations of streptomycin and SGCs sources with the aim of exploring the mechanism of acute streptomycin ototoxicity.
Methods: The SGCs of guinea pig cochlea were isolated using an enzyme-machine method and loaded with 10 mumol/L Fluo-3/AM for 30 min at 37 degrees C. Dissociated SGCs loaded with Fluo-3 were examined with a confocal microscope (ACAS Ultima, USA) using a 20 x objective lens and linear scan mean.

Objective: To observe the relationship between lingual base and uvula, the relationship between lingua and jaw dentition in normal adults, snorers and patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and to study the difference of the relationships among them.
Method: 21 patients with OSAS, 25 snorer and 30 normal adults were included in the study. The relationship between lingua and uvula and the relationship between lingual base and jaw dentition were observed.

Objective: To compare the lingual region upper airway CT scan results of OSAS patients and normal adults to explore if there are upper airway stricture in OSAS patients and the reason of stricture.
Methods: 59 patients with OSAS and 57 normal adults were included in the study. CT evaluated the lingual region upper airway with the use of a Philips Tomoscan AV Expander E1 spiral scanner.

Objective: To compare the CT scan results in OSAS patients and normal adults so as to explore its value in measuring upper airway structure.
Method: 53 patients with OSAS and 53 normal adults were included in the study. The upper airway from roof of nasopharynx to glottis was evaluated with the use of a Phlips Tomoscan AV Expander E1 spiral scanner.

Objective: To investigate the major factors associated with the development of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) by logistic step regression analysis.
Method: Fifty-nine patients with OSAS and 57 normal adults were included in the study. The dependent was whether the subject had OSAS, and the independents included age, sex, body mass index (BMI), as well as the measured data of palate, uvula, lingua and epiglottis by CT scan.

Objective: In order to reduce the complication of the transposition of superficial cervical artery skin flap for the repair of neck defect, the method of pre-expanded skin flap was designed, and its clinical result was observed.
Methods: From March 1995 to October 1997, 12 cases with cicatricial contracture of the neck were treated by the following methods, preexpanded superficial cervical artery skin flap, and then transposed it for the reconstruction the cervical scar after burns. There were 8 males and 4 females and the age ranged from 6 to 32 years.

It is traditionally considered that angiotensin--converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) and spironolactone could not be used simultaneously because of the assumed risk of hyperkalemia. However, despite ACEI therapy edema and congestive status remain in some of the patients with severe congestive heart failure (CHF). In order to seek an effective therapy for these patients, we observed the efficacy and safety of captopil plus spironolactone in patients with refractory CHF, with strict monitoring of renal function, serum and urine electrolytes and blood pressure (BP).
