β2m-/Thy1+ bone marrow-derived hepatocyte stem cells (BDHSCs) have a potential to be applied for cellular treatment in liver cirrhosis. However, the resultant tissue regeneration is restricted by transplanted cells' death. The accumulation of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) in liver fibrosis local microenvironment may play an essential role in the rapid cell death of implanted β2m-/Thy1+ BDHSCs.

Adenoma miss rate (AMR) has been calculated in several tandem colonoscopy studies, but it costs overmuch to carry out a clinical trial. We aimed to put forward AMR by taking advantage of retrospective data, and to judge the comparability between AMRs from prospective and retrospective data.Data of the patients accepting repeated colonoscopies during January to September 2016 was retrospectively collected and analyzed.

Specific immunotherapies, including vaccines with autologous tumor cells and tumor antigen-specific monoclonal antibodies, are important treatments for PC patients. To evaluate the clinical outcomes of PC-specific immunotherapy, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of the relevant published clinical trials. The effects of specific immunotherapy were compared with those of nonspecific immunotherapy and the meta-analysis was executed with results regarding the overall survival (OS), immune responses data, and serum cancer markers data.

Aim: To investigate the enhanced cytotoxic T lymphocyte responses against pancreatic cancer (PC) induced by dendritic cells (DCs) engineered to secrete anti-DcR3 monoclonal antibody (mAb).
Methods: DCs, T lymphocytes and primary PC cells were obtained from PC patients. DCs were transfected with a designed humanized anti-DcR3 monoclonal antibody heavy and light chain mRNA and/or total tumor RNA (DC-tumor-anti-DcR3 RNA or DC-total tumor RNA) by using electroporation technology.

Accumulation of amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) in the brain of Alzheimer disease (AD) patients is believed to be the main pathological feature of the disease. Meanwhile, miR-98-5p dysregulation was found in AD. However, whether miR-98-5p is involved in the accumulation of Aβ in AD, the underlying molecule mechanism remains unclear.

Radiation enteritis is one of the most common complications of cancer radiotherapy, and the development of new and effective measures for its prevention and treatment is of great importance. Adult bone marrow stromal stem cells (ABMSCs) are capable of self-renewal and exhibit low immunogenicity. In this study, we investigated ABMSC transplantation as a treatment for acute radiation enteritis.

The deregulation of HGF/c-Met signaling is implicated in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and progress of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the epigenetic mechanisms that HGF/c-Met regulates EMT and metastasis of HCC cells are less explored. In this study, we demonstrated that HCC cells express a high level of SUMO/sentrin-specific protease 1 (Senp1) which is induced by HGF/c-Met signals.

Endocrine gland‑derived vascular endothelial growth factor (EG‑VEGF) is a newly cloned factor that selectively acts on the endothelium of endocrine gland cells. EG‑VEGF was previously identified as an important cytokine, involved in the modulation of apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cell lines. The present study examined the effects of EG‑VEGF proliferation and migration, in pancreatic cancer cells.

Purpose: KAI1 closely correlates with pancreatic cancer metastasis. There might be some factors that protect the cells from a proliferation inhibition by KAI1 in the solid tumors' microenvironment. Hypoxia and ischemia are the main characteristics of the microenvironment within solid tumors.

Accidental or intended radiation exposure in mass casualty settings presents a serious and on-going threat. The development of mitigating and treating agents requires appropriate animal models. Unfortunately, the majority of research on radiation enteritis in animals has lacked specific assessments and targeted therapy.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most devastating human malignancies without effective therapies. Tumor vaccine based on RNA-transfected dendritic cells (DCs) has emerged as an alternative therapeutic approach for a variety of human cancers including advanced PC. In the present study we compared the cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses against PC cells in vitro, which were induced by DCs co-transfected with two mRNAs of tumor associated-antigens (TAA) MUC4 and survivin, versus DCs transfected with a single mRNA encoding either MUC4 or survivin.

Background: Beclin1 is a well-known key regulator of autophagy, which is also a haploinsufficient tumor suppressor. Current studies revealed that down-regulation or monoallelic deletions of Beclin1 were frequently found in various cancers. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Beclin1 inhibition on autophagy and Gemcitabine-induced apoptosis of pancreatic cancer cells.

Objective: To inquiry the variety difference of upper airway caliber OSAHS sufferer and normal person in quiet respiration.
Method: Twenty OSAHS sufferer who were viewed by PSG and 16 normal adults who hagve no chief complaint of sleeping disease were selected. The curves of the subjects in a respiratory cycle were recorded by respiratory monitoring system in PSG, while the morphological changes in the pharynx of all subjects were observed by fiberscope in a calm respiratory cycle, and then both of the two processes simultaneously were recorded on the same computer.

Objective: To evaluate the long-term therapeutic effects of atorvastatin via cytochrome P450 (CYP)3A4 pathway or a non-CYP 3A4 pathway statin, pravastatin, combined with clopidogrel for the patients undergoing coronary stenting.
Methods: Between February 2006 and March 2007, a total of 1275 patients undergoing successful coronary stenting were randomly assigned to receive atorvastatin 20 mg/d (n = 638) or pravastatin 20 mg/d (n = 637). All patients received standard clopidogrel therapy.

Background: Rapid recanalization of infarct-related artery (IRA) has become the major target during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (MI), but strategy for treatment of non-IRA lesions in this setting remains unclear. This study aimed to compare long-term effects between PCI for IRA only and that for both IRA and non-IRA in ST-elevation MI patients with multi-vessel disease.
Methods: A total of 242 eligible patients with ST-elevation MI and at least two diseased coronary arteries (luminal narrowing > or = 70%) undergoing primary PCI were included.
