Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene exon 19 in-frame deletion (19del) and exon 21 L858R point mutation (21L858R mutation) are prevalent mutations in lung adenocarcinoma. Lung adenocarcinoma patients with 19del presented with a better prognosis than the 21L858R mutation under the same epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor treatment. Our study aimed to uncover the expression of long non-coding RNA LOC105376794 between 19del and 21L858R mutation, and explore the mechanism that regulates cells' biological behavior and gefitinib sensitivity in lung adenocarcinoma cells with 19del.

RNA methylation modifications are widespread in eukaryotes and prokaryotes, with N-methyladenosine (mA) the most common among them. Demethylases, including Fat mass and obesity associated gene (FTO) and AlkB homolog 5 (ALKBH5), are important in maintaining the balance between RNA methylation and demethylation. Recent studies have clearly shown that demethylases affect the biological functions of tumors by regulating their mA levels.

Abnormal activation of microglia and the production of proinflammatory cytokines can lead to chronic neuroinflammation, which is an important pathological characteristic of Parkinson's disease (PD). Neferine is a chemical compound extracted from lotus seed which has previously been reported to exert protective effects on the development of several types of cancer, myocardial injury and hypoxic‑ischemic encephalopathy. However, its effect on microglial functions in neuroinflammation remains to be clarified.

Objective: We aimed to reveal the signaling network altered by butyrate in Gastric Cancer (GC) using small RNA sequencing (sRNA-seq).
Methods: The effects of butyrate on the biological behavior of NCI-N87 and KATO III cells in vitro were assessed by functional assays and half-maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC) of butyrate in KATO III cells were calculated.

Background: Huntingtin-interacting protein 1-related (HIP1R) is a multi-domain gene that exerts many cellular functions including altering T cell-mediated cytotoxicity and controlling intracellular trafficking. However, its clinical significance and function in gastric cancer (GC) have not been described.
Methods: The expression levels of HIP1R were tested by the transcriptional and translational expression analysis and immunohistochemistry (IHC) in matched adjacent non-tumorous vs tumor tissue specimens.

Previous studies have demonstrated that ENDOCAN is elevated in leukemia, and it has been reported to be associated with poor prognosis. However, the functional role of ENDOCAN in the development of leukemia remains to be fully elucidated. In the present study, the expression levels of ENDOCAN were detected in THP‑1, U937, HL‑60 and K562 cells, and it was found that ENDOCAN was increased in U937 and K562 cells, compared with the other two cell lines.

This meta-analysis aimed to assess the diagnostic efficiency of blood-based septin 9 (SEPT9) methylation assay for the detection of colorectal cancer (CRC). Studies were searched in the Springer, Wiley, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Ovid, Embase, Web of Science, China BioMedicine, Wanfang and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases until July 2017. Methodological quality assessment was performed based on the guidelines of the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies.
