Resection of a schwannoma originating from vagus nerve in the right superior mediastinum.

Background: Schwannoma is the most common mediastinal neurogenic tumor, while schwannoma originating from mediastinal vagus nerve is rare.

Case Presentation: This article reported one case of schwannoma originating from vagus nerve in the right superior mediastinum. The mediastinal schwannoma was completely resected through a right-sided video-assisted thoracoscopic thoracotomy.

Prognostic Role of Serum Soluble Tim-3 in Severe Traumatic Brain Injury: A Prospective Observational Study.

Objective: T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-3 (Tim-3) may be implicated in neuroinflammation. Herein, we attempted to discern the role of serum soluble (s) Tim-3 as an inflammatory prognostic biomarker of severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI).

Methods: In this prospective observational study of 112 sTBI patients and 112 controls, serum sTim-3 levels were determined, Rotterdam computed tomography (CT) classification and Glasgow coma scale (GCS) were selected as the two severity indicators, serum C-reactive protein (CRP) was regarded as an inflammatory biomarker, and poor prognosis was referred to as extended Glasgow outcome scale (GOSE) scores 1-4 at 180 days after trauma.

This study compared the clinical efficacy of these two surgical methods through a meta-analysis based on relevant clinical randomized controlled trials (RCT) on ACST.

Background: Hemangiopericytoma (HPC), also known as solitary fibrous tumor (SFT), is a type of soft tissue sarcoma with a special aggressive behavior. The HPC/SFT is locally aggressive with possibility of late recurrence locally or distant extraneural metastasis. The most common location of this HPC/SFT is the lower extremities.

Purpose: This study was aimed to explore (1) location on AP pelvic X-ray that displayed bone stock in anterosuperior acetabulum; (2) whether X-ray could provide enough evidence to evaluate whether bone stock could provide support for acetabular cup; (3) criteria to determine whether anterosuperior bone stock could provide sufficient support for cup on X-ray.

Methods: Our study retrospectively collected 43 patients who underwent revision THA for cup loosening from 2014 to 2019. The position of anterosuperior acetabular bone stock was compared between X-ray and CT-based 3-D reconstruction.

Pelvic fractures with retroperitoneal hematoma are frequent injuries, and there are multiple treatment options for patients. In this case, a 35-year-old female patient suffered an unstable pelvic fracture due to a car crash, accompanied by the formation of a huge retroperitoneal hematoma. The vital signs of patient were not stable.

Gastritis cystica profunda: a case report and literature review.

Gastric cystica profunda (GCP) is a rare disease characterized by multiple cystic lesions in the mucosa and/or submucosal layer. Usually, GCP occurs in stomachs that have previously been operated on. If there is no postoperative pathological results, it is challenging to diagnose GCP based on nonspecific clinical symptoms and imaging findings.

LncRNA MEG3 expression in sepsis and its effect on LPS-induced macrophage function.

Sepsis is a dangerous disease that is caused by an overreaction of the body's immune system to infection and gradually spreads throughout the body. This experiment was carried out to explore the expression of LncRNA MEG3 in sepsis and its effect on LPS-induced macrophage function. Methods 60 sepsis patients admitted to our hospital from February 2017 to September 2018 were selected as the sepsis group, and 50 non-septic patients diagnosed and treated in our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group.
