Introduction: Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) is an extremely rare, low-grade, malignant pancreatic tumour with an excellent prognosis. We describe a case of SPN causing obstructive jaundice in a young female, thus mimicking pancreatic adenocarcinoma clinically and radiologically.
Case Presentation: A 32-year-old female presented with abdominal pain for 12 h, icterus, and an epigastric mass measuring 3 × 3 cm.

Aims: Insights into the role of the urethra in maintaining continence and in normal voiding have been provided with advances in imaging techniques. Also, functional urethral testing is used to understand which treatments are optimal for women with functional bladder outlet obstruction (BOO), but which testing is better for which treatment? This review aims to describe our current understanding of female urethral function and dysfunction and to provide future research directions for treating functional female urethral disorders.
Materials And Methods: This is a consensus report of the proceedings of a research proposal discussed at the annual International Consultation on Incontinence-Research Society (ICI-RS), 6th-8th June 2024 (Bristol, UK): "Do we need to re-focus on functional female urethral disorders in lower urinary tract dysfunction? Background: Assembly factor for spindle microtubules (ASPM) has gained significant attention in cancer research due to its association with tumor growth and progression. Through the analysis of large-scale genomic datasets, ASPM has been identified as the top upregulated gene in breast cancer (BC), characterized by high proliferation. This multicohort study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological and prognostic significance of ASPM mRNA and protein expression in BC.

Hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is an autosomal dominant, multisystem disorder that manifests with a spectrum of disease including cardiopulmonary complications. HHT is characterised by aberrant signalling via the transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) pathway, with loss of vascular integrity, angiogenesis and vascular dysplasia. The disease has an estimated prevalence of 1 in 5000 persons and the penetrance increases with increasing age.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common solid malignancy in men in the UK. Pleomorphic giant cell carcinoma (PGCC) is a rare, aggressive variant of prostate adenocarcinoma. PGCC is associated with a poor prognosis and high Gleason-grade characteristics, often occurring in patients with a history of PCa treatment.

Introduction: Evidence-based Medicine (EBM) is fundamental to modern healthcare and its integration into postgraduate curricula is strongly advocated. Despite its relevance, incorporating EBM in postgraduate training, specifically in general surgery, is fraught with challenges. This study aims to explore the perceptions of general surgical trainees regarding EBM, focusing on the process of achieving competency, assessment and its associated challenges.

Background: Access to surgical care in low-to-middle-income countries (LMICs), especially in war-torn areas such as the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), is a global health priority. The plastic surgical capacity in the oPt has not been evaluated. This study provides the first systematic evaluation of plastic surgical capacity in the oPt.

Background: Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists have been shown to reduce mortality in patients after myocardial infarction with congestive heart failure. Whether routine use of spironolactone is beneficial after myocardial infarction is uncertain.
Methods: In this multicenter trial with a 2-by-2 factorial design, we randomly assigned patients with myocardial infarction who had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention to receive either spironolactone or placebo and either colchicine or placebo.

Introduction: Imaging appearances and clinical presentation of soft tissue sarcoma and soft tissue haematomas are similar. It is imperative that sarcoma is differentiated from benign soft tissue lesions due to the poor outcomes and high morbidity associated with sarcoma.
Topic Description: Part 1 of this pictorial review will summarise the paucity of guidance in management of suspected haematomas, the clinical features and ultrasound techniques used in the assessment of soft tissue masses.

Whilst SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines generate high neutralising antibodies (nAb) in most individuals, haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) recipients respond poorly. HSCT/CAR-T treatment ablates existing immune memory, with recipients requiring revaccination analogous to being vaccine naive. An optimal revaccination strategy for this cohort has not been defined.

Multiple respiratory viruses lead to high morbidity and mortality, yet global surveillance platforms focus primarily on seasonal influenza viruses. The COVID-19 pandemic and new RSV vaccines highlight the importance of a broader approach. Upper respiratory tract swabs from children aged 24-59 months presenting with influenza-like illness in The Gambia were collected during follow-up of a live-attenuated influenza vaccine randomised controlled trial in 2017-18.

Everyone should have the opportunity to participate in decisions about their health, including people living with dementia. People with dementia typically bring a companion to medical appointments, so most care decisions are made in interactions involving three parties. To make decisions about their care, patients with dementia must have the opportunity to take a turn-at-talk in conversations where decisions are made.

Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) characterised by endoscopic inflammation, progressive bowel damage and gastrointestinal lesions. Although treatment strategies for CD have traditionally focused on a stepwise pharmacological approach to achieve clinical remission or symptom resolution, these treatment goals correlate poorly with disease activity. Thus, achieving full clinical remission and full endoscopic healing alone may be insufficient, as patients may remain at risk of inflammatory complications.

Malignant pleural effusions (MPE) tend to recur and require definitive treatment with either chest drain and talc pleurodesis or indwelling pleural catheters (IPCs), which offer similar symptomatic benefits. In recent years, IPCs have become popular due to the presumed convenience of an outpatient procedure followed by home drainage leading to a misconception of IPCs being an ideal treatment for MPE. However, IPCs predispose the patient to multiple complications and have significant physical and psychological implications that are under-recognised.

Background: Technique survival, also reported with negative connotations as technique failure or transfer from peritoneal dialysis to haemodialysis, has been identified by patients, caregivers and health professionals as a critically important outcome to be reported in all trials. However, there is wide variation in how peritoneal dialysis technique survival is defined, measured and reported, leading to difficulty in comparing or consolidating results.
Methods: We conducted an online international consensus workshop to establish a core outcome measure of technique survival.
