Multiscale Modeling of Heat Conduction in a Hydroxyethyl Cellulose/Boron Nitride Composite Realizing Ultrahigh Thermal Conductivity via a "Moisture-Activated" Strategy.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

December 2024

School of Energy and Materials, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Engineering Materials Application and Evaluation, Shanghai Polytechnic University, Shanghai 201209, China.

Polymer-based thermally conductive composites are widely used in microelectronics for heat dissipation and packaging, for which the filler arrangement and the filler/matrix interfacial thermal resistance (ITR) are key factors limiting superior thermal conduction realization. This work reveals the effects of filler modification and orientation on thermal duction in the boron nitride (BN)/hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) through multiscale simulation approaches. Nonequilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) identifies that the thermal conductivity of the BN molecule is not size-dependent and proves that thermal resistance is dramatically reduced after hydroxylation modification (BN).

Novel Spectrophotometric Method for Robust Detection of Trace Copper and Cobalt in High-Concentration Zinc Solution.

Molecules

December 2024

Hunan Province Key Laboratory of Southwest, Hunan Academician Workstation, School of Information Science and Engineering, Shaoyang University, Shaoyang 422000, China.

In the purification process of zinc hydrometallurgy, the spectra of copper and cobalt seriously overlap in the whole band and are interfered with by the spectra of zinc and nickel, which seriously affects the detection results of copper and cobalt in zinc solutions. Aiming to address the problems of low resolution, serious overlap, and narrow characteristic wavelengths, a novel spectrophotometric method for the robust detection of trace copper and cobalt is proposed. First, the Haar, Db4, Coif3, and Sym3 wavelets are used to carry out the second-order continuous wavelet transform on the spectral signals of copper and cobalt, which improves the resolution of copper and cobalt and eliminates the background interference caused by matrix zinc signals and reagents.

Variations in H⁺ concentration significantly impact the redox potential of luteolin during electrochemical sensor detection, leading to indeterminate electrochemical signals and hindering accurate identification of luteolin. In this study, we developed a proton-capture strategy for electrochemical sensing by synthesizing a ZIF-67-modified SnO (SnO-ZIF-67) composite, enabling constant peak potential detection across a range of pH environments. We demonstrated through both experimental methods and density functional theory (DFT) that ZIF-67 induces a high density of oxygen vacancies within the SnO₂ crystal, which capture protons dissociated from luteolin, thereby preventing potential shifts during electrochemical detection.

Phosphorylation, a reversible and widespread post-translational modification of proteins, is essential for numerous cellular processes. However, due to technical limitations, large-scale detection of phosphorylation sites, especially those infected by SARS-CoV-2, remains a challenging task. To address this gap, we propose a method called GBMPhos, a novel method that combines convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for extracting local features, gating mechanisms to selectively focus on relevant information, and a bi-directional gated recurrent unit (Bi-GRU) to capture long-range dependencies within protein sequences.
