In this study, the cotton fabrics/cuprous oxide-nanocellulose (CuO-NC) flexible and recyclable composite material (COCO) with highly efficient photocatalytic degradation of dyes and antibacterial properties was fabricated. Using flexible cotton fabrics as substrates, CuO were in-situ synthesized to make CuO uniformly grew on cotton fibers and were wrapped with NC. The photocatalytic degradation ability of COCO-5 was verified by use methylene blue (MB), the degradation rate was as high as 98.

A special flower-like chitosan (CS)/calcium phosphate (CaP) microparticle was fabricated as a novel pH-sensitive carrier for sustained release drug system via a rapid one-pot approach. The CS-tripolyphosphate (TPP) nanocomplexes were firstly prepared through ionotropic gelation. Then, the CS nanocomplexes network acted as the template and inducer for adsorbing the mineralized CaP nanosheets and directing its assembly into the flower-like microparticles.

In this study, a biocompatible chitosan/montmorillonite (CS/MMT) composite microsphere was developed as a carrier for loading and sustained-release of the hydrophobic drug of tanshinone IIA. Though the compatibility between hydrophobic drugs and hydrophilic matrix was fairly poor, tanshinone IIA was successfully loaded on the microsphere by the solvent exchange process during chitosan matrix dehydration. The microstructure of the resulting microspheres was characterized with several techniques, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscope (SEM).

Areas Covered: The bioactivity and pharmacological properties of α-MG are being actively investigated by various industrial and academic institutions. The bioactivities of α-MG have been summarized in several previous reviews, which were worthy of high compliment.
