The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the most severe infectious diseases in recent decades, and has had a significant impact on the global economy, and the stock market. Most existing studies on stock market volatility during the pandemic have been conducted from a data science perspective, with statistical analysis and mathematical models often revealing the superficial relationship between Covid and the stock market at the data level. In contrast, few studies have explored the relationship between more specialised aspects of the pandemic.

DNase I hypersensitive sites (DHSs) are a specific genomic region, which is critical to detect or understand cis-regulatory elements. Although there are many methods developed to detect DHSs, there is a big gap in practice. We presented a deep learning-based language model for predicting DHSs, named LangMoDHS.

Background: Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most lethal malignancies and carries a dismal mortality and morbidity. Four types of RNA modification (namely m6A, m1A, APA and A-to-I) could be catalyzed by distinct enzymatic compounds ("writers"), mediating numerous epigenetic events in carcinogenesis and immunomodulation. We aim to investigate the interplay mechanism of these writers in immunogenomic features and molecular biological characteristics in PC.

Metabolome analysis reveals the toxic effects of cadmium exposure on the egg sac of spider Pardosa pseudoannulata.

Ecotoxicol Environ Saf

January 2023

Division of Plant Science and Technology, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO 65211, USA. Electronic address:

The investigation of the toxic effects of cadmium (Cd) on rice field invertebrates has attracted accumulating attention. Spider grants a novel insight into the impacts of Cd stress on invertebrates, but the effects of Cd-induced toxicity and molecular response mechanism of related metabolites in spider's egg sacs remain elusive. This investigation found that Cd stress distinctively decreased vitellogenin (Vg) content and hatched spiderlings numbers in the egg sac of Pardosa pseudoannulata.

Transcription factors (TFs) are typical regulators for gene expression and play versatile roles in cellular processes. Since it is time-consuming, costly, and labor-intensive to detect it by using physical methods, it is desired to develop a computational method to detect TFs. Here, we presented a capsule network-based method for identifying TFs.

Urinary extracellular vesicles (uEVs) are promising biomarkers for various diseases. However, many tools measuring uEVs rely on time-consuming uEV isolation methods, which could induce sample bias. This study demonstrates the detection of single uEVs without isolation using imaging flow cytometry (IFCM).

Compared with small-molecule synthetic drugs, bioactive peptides have desirable advantages in efficiency, selectivity, safety, tolerance, and side effects, which are accepted by attracting extensive attention from researchers in food, medicine, and other fields. However, unacceptable barriers, including mucus barrier, digestive enzyme barrier, and epithelial barrier, cause the weakening or the loss of bioavailability and biostability of bioactive peptides. The nanocarrier system for bioactive peptide delivery needs to be further probed.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers looked at a hospital in China with COVID-19 patients and found that surfaces and medical gear got dirtier starting August 18, 2021, which could put doctors and nurses at risk.
  • They collected samples before and after cleaning up the hospital to find out why things were so contaminated and if their cleaning helped.
  • They discovered that the rooms of critically ill patients had the highest levels of contamination, likely because medical staff were touching dirty surfaces and then their protective gear. *

High temperature and drought are abiotic stresses restricting many arthropods' survival and growth. Wolf spiders are poikilothermic arthropods that are vital in managing insects and pests. Nonetheless, investigating changes in spiders under temperature and drought stress are limited, especially at the molecular and gene expression levels.

Visualisation techniques have been one of the best data processing and analysis methods in recent decades, and they have assisted in data understanding efforts in various fields. Visualisation techniques for low-dimensional data are well developed and applied in multiple sectors; however, multidimensional data visualisation techniques still present some limitations, such as inaccurate data comparison and perception, exaggerated visual differences, label occlusion, and overlap. This study addresses the pros and cons and proposes a novel graphical drawing method, the multidimensional rose chart.

Visual Question Answering (VQA) is a method of answering questions in natural language based on the content of images and has been widely concerned by researchers. The existing research on the visual question answering model mainly focuses on the point of view of attention mechanism and multi-modal fusion. It only pays attention to the visual semantic features of the image in the process of image modeling, ignoring the importance of modeling the spatial relationship of visual objects.

With the increase in the number of cardiovascular patients in China, this paper must use better detection methods to examine these patients. Blood lipid testing is a quantitative method for the determination of lipids contained in blood (plasma). Blood lipids are the general term for neutral fats (triglycerides and cholesterol) and lipids (phospholipids, glycolipids, sterols, and steroids) in plasma, which are widely present in the human body.

In this work, novel MgCuNbO (MCN) ceramics were synthesized by the two-step sintering (TSS) technique, and the phase composition, crystal structures, and microwave dielectric properties were comprehensively studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman analysis demonstrated that MCN ceramics are multi-phase ceramics consisting of MgNbO and CuO phases. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was utilized to investigate the chemical composition and element valence of MgCuNbO ceramics.
