China's goal of ecological civilization construction simultaneously faces the dual strategic tasks of pollution control and carbon reduction (PCCR). In addition to carbon reduction, does the low-carbon city pilot (LCCP) further contribute to the blue sky defense? This study investigates the impact of the LCCP on air pollution by employing a multiperiod difference-in-differences (DID) model based on data from 276 Chinese cities. The results show the following: (1) Compared with nonpilot areas, the LCCP reduces PM levels in pilot areas by approximately 1.

Disability weights are crucial for quantifying health loss associated with non-fatal outcomes and were not well assessed in different countries, especially for specific cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to identify disability weights with a focus on specific cancer in a large Chinese population. Two types of web surveys were conducted, and 254 health states, including 30 new states for specific cancer, were investigated using paired comparison methods.

Unlike previous studies, this paper examines the risk spillover effects within the supply chain system rather than between financial and other specific industries. Based on the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis and using Chinese provincial panel data from 2002 to 2019, this study examines how different types of healthcare expenditure and levels of economic development and energy consumption contribute to carbon emissions regionally. Considering the wide regional differences in the development levels of China, this paper uses quantile regressions and draws the following robust conclusions: (1) The EKC hypothesis was validated by all methods in eastern China. (2) The carbon emission reduction of government, private, and social health expenditure is confirmed.

With the expansion of China's automobile market and the increase in the proportion of electric vehicles, the influence of the automobile industry on water resources has been increasingly, and as a result, water resources will become an important factor restricting the development of the electric vehicle industry in China. Until now, there are still no in-depth studies on the influences of the water footprint of electric vehicles. The paper establishes a life cycle assessment model by which to analyze the reduction potential of the water footprint of various types of passenger vehicles in their operation.

As a new economic form, the digital economy is not only empowering new impetus to economic growth, but also reshaping specific business forms of economical operation. Therefore, we conducted an empirical test to verify the impact and mechanism of pollution reduction in the digital economy, based on the panel data of 280 prefecture-level cities in China from 2011 to 2019. The results show that, first the development of the digital economy indeed has the positive effect of realizing pollution reduction.

It is of great significance to study the trends and internal differences of eco-efficiency in the Yellow River Basin for ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. According to the characteristics of the Yellow River Basin in China, the eco-efficiency evaluation system was constructed, and the super-efficiency slack-based measure (SBM) model and the super-efficiency SBM model of undesired output were used to calculate the eco-efficiency levels of provinces in the Yellow River Basin from 2005 to 2020, and the variation trend and internal differences were analyzed. The results show that when only the expected output was considered, the eco-efficiency of the Yellow River Basin as a whole and each province showed a fluctuating upward trend, but there were obvious differences.

Taking the reproduction law of vermin into consideration, we formulate a hierarchical age-structured model to describe the optimal management of vermin by contraception control. It is shown that the model is well-posed, and the solution has a separable form. The existence of optimal management policy is established via a minimizing sequence and the use of compactness, while the structure of optimal strategy is obtained by using an adjoint system and normal cones.

This paper constructs the Remote Sensing Ecological Index (RSEI) based on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform to analyze the spatial and temporal evolution of ecological quality in the Dongjiangyuan region from 2000 to 2020. An ecological quality trend analysis was conducted through the Theil-Sen median and Mann-Kendall tests, and the influencing factors were analyzed by using a geographically weighted regression (GWR) model.

To study the dynamic evolution law of the oxidation heating process of coal spontaneous combustion in the goaf during the advancing process of the working face, a dynamic model of oxidation heating of coal spontaneous combustion in the goaf was established on the basis of deformed geometry. Through numerical simulation research, the evolution and migration laws of seepage field, oxygen concentration field, temperature field, and high-temperature area of coal spontaneous combustion in the goaf during the advancement of the working face was obtained. The results indicate that the distribution of the bulking coefficient, porosity, and permeability of the falling coal and rock mass in the goaf is nonuniform.

Musicians' body motion plays a fundamental role in ensemble playing, by supporting sound production, communication, and expressivity. This research investigates how Western classical musicians' head motion during ensemble performances relates to a piece's phrase structure and musicians' empathic perspective taking (EPT) profile. Twenty-four advanced piano and singing students took part in the study, and their EPT score was pre-assessed using the Interpersonal Reactivity Index.
