First-line induction chemotherapy with high-dose methotrexate versus teniposide in patients with newly diagnosed primary central nervous system lymphoma: a retrospective, multicenter cohort study.

Background: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of high-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) versus teniposide (TEN) in patients with newly diagnosed immunocompetent primary central nervous system lymphomas (PCNSLs).

Methods: The study included immunocompetent, adult patients with newly diagnosed PCNSL at 22 centers in China from 2007 to 2016. The patients received HD-MTX or TEN as first-line induction therapy.

Total Arch Replacement Combined with Stented Elephant Trunk Implantation for Acute Type A Aortic Dissection in an Octogenarian Patient.

Background: The indications and outcome of surgery for Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) in elderly patients are still debated, especially when they were above 80 years old.  Case presentation: This report describes the case of an octogenarian patient with ATAAD who underwent total arch replacement (TAR) combined with stented elephant trunk (SET) implantation.

Conclusion: Emergent surgery should be performed on the ATAAD octogenarians without serious preoperative complications.

Heparin detection based on the fluorescent turn-on probe of amino carbon quantum dots.

Amino-rich carbon quantum dots (CDs) were synthesized by hydrothermal treatment of ethylene glycol, glucose and polyethyleneimine. CDs have green fluorescence (excitation/emission peaks 435 nm/515 nm) and can be enhanced by the addition of heparin (Hep). A linear relationship between fluorescence intensity and heparin concentration was observed.

Application of the Type, Entry Site, and Malperfusion Classification in Treatment of Aortic Dissection.

Background: Our goal is to investigate a new practical dissection classification system, including type of dissection, location of the tear of the primary entry, and malperfusion.

Methods: The outcome of 151 patients with aortic dissection between January 2019 and May 2020 retrospectively were analyzed. All cases were classified with the Stanford dissection classification (A and B) by adding type non-A non-B.

Analysis of the Clinical Efficacy of Dendritic Cell -cytokine Induced Killer Cell-based Adoptive Immunotherapy for Colorectal Cancer.

To analyze the efficacy and safety of dendritic cell - cytokine - induced killer (DC-CIK) immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy for colorectal cancer. A retrospective analysis was conducted in 116 patients from February 2012 to December 2017, who were divided into postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy group alone, combined DC-CIK immunotherapy group, advanced cancer palliative care group, and palliative care + DC-CIK immunotherapy group, to evaluate cellular immune function, disease-free survival(DFS) and overall survival(OS). In the adjuvant therapy and palliative care group, the percentages of CD3+, CD8+ and NK cells after treatment were significantly lower than before, whereas in the other two groups given DC-CIK immunotherapy, the percentages of CD3+, CD8+, NK and NKT cells after treatment were all higher than before, with a significant increase compared with the chemotherapy group ( < .

Background: Tangeretin, a flavonoid derived from citrus peel, showed anti-diabetic effects. However, the role of tangeretin on liver, the organ that act as target of insulin and play the central role in maintaining the blood glucose level control, is still largely unknown. The current study was designed to assess the effect of tangeretin on liver insulin sensitivity in vitro and in vivo.

Bicyclol Attenuates Acute Liver Injury by Activating Autophagy, Anti-Oxidative and Anti-Inflammatory Capabilities in Mice.

Bicyclol, a novel synthetic antihepatitis drug, has been shown to protect against liver injury various pharmacological activities. The purpose of the current study was to further investigate the protective effect of bicyclol against carbon tetrachloride (CCl)-induced acute liver injury (ALI) and its underlying molecular mechanism, particularly autophagic machinery, anti-oxidative, and anti-inflammatory potentials. Our results found that treatment with bicyclol significantly reduced CCl-induced hepatotoxicity by alleviating histopathological liver changes, decreasing the alanine transaminase levels, promoting autophagic flux, attenuating the expression of inflammatory cytokines, and modulating oxidative markers.

Quantitative evaluation of subclinical left ventricular dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus by three-dimensional echocardiography.

Left ventricular (LV) function undergoes subtle changes (subclinical left ventricular dysfunction) in a large proportion of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) who develop diabetic cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to quantify LV myocardial strain and synchrony in T2DM by real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT-3DE), and to evaluate subclinical LV dysfunction in T2DM at different glycemic control levels. Seventy-two patients with T2DM with an LV ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥ 55% and 45 healthy individuals as controls who underwent RT-3DE were studied.
